Chapter 1079
Comeback Of The Adored Heiress
Chapter 1079:
Initially, Madisyn had taken a liking to Docie, but after their meal together, sheâd started to notice a few flaws. Docie had a tendency to think more about herself than others.
Susan, being Madisynâs close friend for over a decade, picked up on her subtle concerns immediately. âI get it, Madisyn. But young girls like herâtheyâve got their strengths and weaknesses. Give her some time; sheâll grow into it.â
Madisyn considered her words and nodded. âSince sheâs your student, Susan, Iâll help her if she needs it.â
âMadisyn, I knew I could count on you.â
Later, in the car, Susan and Docie sat together in the backseat, reviewing a contract.
After a quick skim, Susan nodded approvingly. âYouâve done well.â
Docieâs face lit up, and with newfound confidence, she tilted her chin up. âOf course, Miss Riggs! Iâm your student now. I have to be the best.â
Watching her, Susan couldnât help but smile. At Docieâs age, sheâd been far less confident, more self-conscious. She hoped Docie could hold onto her brightness and positivity as she grew.
Docie carefully tucked the contract away, then suddenly asked, âMiss Riggs, what does Miss Johns think of me?â
Susan hesitated, remembering Madisynâs earlier comments. Not wanting to risk any misunderstandings, she carefully chose her words.
âMadisynâs my best friend, and since youâre my student, she sees you as hers too. If you ever run into trouble, sheâll help you out.â
Before Docie could press further, Susan deftly changed the subject.
âBy the way, since youâre my student now, I need to think about your future. Iâm hosting a small banquet on Friday with some important connections. Youâll need to prepare. You might meet people who could really help you. The dress for the banquet is ready; weâll pick it up soon.â
âWow, really? Thatâs amazing!â Docieâs excitement was palpable. âIâll do my absolute best, Miss Riggs!â
âGood,â Susan said with a nod. âHow are you coming along with the fragrance experiment records I gave you? You havenât asked any questions about them.â
Docieâs mind immediately went to the thick compilation of fragrance knowledge Susan had given her. The book was quite extensive and covered a wide range of topics, but it was full of valuable insights.
âIâve been reading it, and so far, there hasnât been anything I couldnât understand.â
âThatâs good to hear.â
Susan nodded and instructed the driver to head to a store to pick up Docieâs dress.
