Chapter 147
The CEO's Amazing Ex-Wife Is Back!
Chapter 147 Zekeâs jaw tightened. âWhat bothers me is that youâre harassing Thalassa. Itâs obvious she doesnât want you around.â
âHarassing her?â Kris raised an eyebrow. âAnd what makes you think Iâm âharassingâ her?â
âWhen someone wants nothing to do with you and you keep trying to insert yourself into their life, thatâs called harassment.â Zeke took his time to explain like he was speaking to a child.
Kris smiled in amusement, but before he could respond, Zeke turned to Luisa, his voice rising slightly in frustration. âAnd you!
Why would you even think of bringing him here, Luisa? What were you thinking?â
Luisa let out a sigh. âZeke, have you forgotten that it was Kris who saved my life? Iâm just trying to do something in return. Heâs injured because of me, and Iâm helping him out until his wound heals a little.â
The cold look on Zekeâs face faltered for a moment, his shoulders dropping slightly as he turned back to Kris, clearing his throat.
âEr...I havenât properly thanked you for that. But I... I really do appreciate what you did, Kris.â He nodded sincerely. âThank you for saving my sisterâs life.â
âThereâs no need to thank me.â Kris nodded back, and the tension between them easeâjust for a secondâbefore Zekeâs eyes hardened once again.
âBut that doesnât mean you get to worm your way back into Thalassaâs life because of it,â Zeke added, shaking his head firmly.
âWhy canât you understand that youâve hurt her far too much, and you donât deserve her?â
Kris rolled his eyes. âAnd who deserves her? You?â
Zeke didnât hesitate, meeting Krisâs gaze headâon as he spoke. âYes, me. I deserve her because I would never hurt her like you did. I would believe her above anyone else. By my side, sheâll be happy.â
Kris forced a mocking smile despite his irritation. âThen why havenât you told her that youâre in love with her? If youâre so sure you can make her happy?â
Zekeâs jaw clenched tightly, but his voice remained controlled. âBecause, unlike you, Iâm not selfish. Iâm not trying to force myself into her life. Sheâs been through enough because of you. I want her to accomplish everything she came back for so that she can heal first.â
The two men stared at each other, the tension between them crackling in the air like electricity. The glaring match went on for a full minute because neither was willing to back down.
âCut it out, both of you!â Luisa snapped, stepping between them. âThalassa wouldnât like this. She wouldnât want either of you talking about her like this at all. She makes her own decisions.â
Zekeâs gaze softened slightly as he looked at his. âAre you supporting him now because he saved your life?â he asked in bewilderment. âIs he using it to guiltâtrip you into helping him?â
Luisa shook her head, her expression firm. âNo one has guiltâtripped me, Zeke. Iâm here to support Thalassa no matter the choice she makes as long as it makes her happy.
Zéke stared at her for a long moment, his face a mixture of disbelief and disappointment. Then, without another word, he shook his head and walked out of the kitchen, leaving Kris and Luisa alone.
Kris glanced at Luisa, opening his mouth to thank her, but she held up a hand to stop him.
âDonât thank me,â she said quietly, looking at him seriously. âIâm not going to lie to you. I think Zeke is a better man for Thalassa than you. Heâs always been there for her, and he knows how to appreciate and take care of the 1/2 +25 BONUS Chapter 147 people he loves.â
She paused for a moment. âSure, he can be controlling and little overbearing at times, but thatâs because he cares too much.â
Krisâs face tightened, but he stayed quiet as she continued.
âBut,â Luisa added, her voice softening just a little, âIâve also come to realize that maybe youâre not the bastard I thought you were.â
Kris smiled. âThat almost sounded like a compliment.â
Luisa gave him a small smile, then sighed. âIâm not the one who gets to decide who Thalassaâs heart chooses... Even though it seems it has already chosen.â
Kris arched an eyebrow, the faintest hint of hope in his voice. âAre you trying to tell me that her heart still chooses me?â
Luisaâs smile faded as she glared at him playfully. âStop fishing for information from me,â she warned. âNow get out of my kitchen.â
âSure.â Kris smirked as he turned to leave, feeling more hopeful than heâd felt in a long time.
Even though Luisa hadnât said the words, now he was sure; Thalassa still had feelings for him.
