Chapter 146
The CEO's Amazing Ex-Wife Is Back!
Chapter 146 The ringing of his phone jolted Kris awake. Groaning, he shifted slightly and picked it up from the nightstand. He froze when he saw the caller IDâit was his mother.
Kris stared at the phone for several seconds before tossing onto the bed beside him, unanswered. It rang again, but he simply watched until it stopped.
Then he sank back into his pillow with a sigh. He knew he would have to speak to his mother sooner or later.
Remembering the day of the Fashion Awards show, when he accused her of being behind the sabotage, guilt twisted his stomach.
She had been telling the truth that she had nothing to do with it, and yet heâd refused to believe her and said all those horrible things to her.
He owed her a big apology for assuming the worst, but he would do it later. Right now, his focus was solely on winning Thalassa back.
Remembering their conversation last night, guilt consumed him. He had seen the pain mixed with anger in her eyes. The pain he had caused.
God, he had so much to make up to her for. He didnât know how long it was going to take him, but he wasnât going to stop until all those scars were healed and she finally trusted him with her heart again.
Getting out of bed, he took his sling and bandage off as he headed to the bathroom to freshen up. His arm hurt less than it had yesterday, but that had done nothing to help him sleep better when he couldnât stop thinking about Thalassa.
Once he finished freshening up and had changed into a shirt and shorts, Luisa came to check on him and helped him put on the bandage and sling before leaving to go prepare breakfast.
Preparing to go downstairs, his heart raced. How was he going to face Thalassa? What if she looked at him with the same disdain she had last night? Every time she did, it killed him a little.
Hesitating, it took him several minutes before he gathered enough courage to step out of his room and go downstairs.
Not finding Thalassa or Luisa in the living room, he made this way to the kitchen. Entering, he paused when he noticed Zeke leaning against the counter while talking to Luisa, who was standing by the stove.
When Zeke noticed him, his eyes widened slightly with shock as he straightened. The casual atmosphere immediately shifted into tension.
âKris?â He said incredulously, his brows furrowing. âWhat the hell are you doing here?â
Luisa glanced over her shoulder, sensing the tension. Turning off the gas sheâd just turned on, she turned to face her brother.
âThis is what I was trying to tell you, Zeke,â she said. âBut you didnât let me finish earlier. Kris is staying with us for a few days.
Zéke looked from Luisa to Kris, a look of disbelief crossing his face. âWhat? Heâs staying here with you and Thalassa? Why? And why didnât you tell me?â
Luisa raised a brow. âYouâve been a little preoccupied with your companyâs problems, remember?â
âBut why would you...â Zeke paused, narrowing his eyes at his sister. âWhat does your boyfriend think about this? Is he okay with it?â

âAnd...and what about Thalassa?â Zeke hesitated. âIs she okay with this?â
Kris snorted as he shoved his free hand into his pocket. âWhatâs really bothering you, Zeke? That your sisterâs helping me? Or that Iâm close to Thalassa now that Iâm staying here?â
