Chapter 140
The CEO's Amazing Ex-Wife Is Back!
Chapter 140 Thalassa wasnât the only one caught off guard by Luisaâs offer. Kris and Alden were equally shocked.
âWhat?â Kris asked, wanting to confirm what heâd just heard.
âYes. Since you donât live with your family anymore, Iâd like you to stay with us for a week until your wound heals a bit more.â
Luisa repeated, smiling broadly. âWhat do you say? Do you accept?â
Thalassa had gotten even more rigid now, her face expressionless but her disbelieving eyes were fixed on Luisa who seemed oblivious.
âUh... sure, Iâd like to stay with you,â Kris said, his voice still stunned as he glanced at Thalassa. âBut only if sheâs okay with it.â
Thalassa tensed even more, realizing all eyes were now on her, especially Krisâs. His gaze was hopeful and pleading.
Her lips curled into a hard smile. âWhy are you asking for my permission? The house belongs to Luisa too, so she can make any decision she wants. Excuse me, I have somewhere to be.â
With that, she turned and walked out of the room. Watching her leave, Krisâs expression fell, his hopes deflated. What had he expected? That she would jump for joy at the idea of him spending a week under the same roof?
âIâll be right back,â Luisa said, following Thalassa.
Once in the hallway, she spotted Thalassa storming away, her movements rigid.
âLassa!â she called, hurrying to catch up.
Thalassa paused but didnât turn to face her, forcing Luisa to walk around and stand in front of her.
âWhat is it, Luisa?â
Luisa scanned her friendâs expression and posture. âYouâre upset.â
Thalassa nearly choked on a ball of disbelief. âGood of you to notice, Luisa. You didnât seem to care about that when you offered Kris a place in âourâ house. You didnât even discuss it with me first.â
Luisa bit when lip guilty, knowing Thalassa was right. âIâm sorry. Youâre right, I shouldâve consulted you first. But you heard AldenâKris lives alone now, and in his condition, it wouldnât be good for his healing to do everything on his own.â
âAlden can take care of him,â Thalassa pointed out, trying to keep her voice low. âHe can live with Alden since theyâre friends.
You didnât have to offer to bring him into our house, not caring how it would make me feel.â
âI thought you said his presence doesnât bother you anymore?â Luisa questioned, then sighed, realizing she shouldnât have said that. âLook, I know he can stay with Alden, but I want to do this.â
She took a step closer, and tentatively took Thalassaâs hand in hers. âI know Kris hurt you a lot, but he saved my life, Lassa. If it werenât for him, Iâd be dead by now, and youâd be crying over my casket, blaming yourself for it. Letting him stay with us for a little while is nothing compared to the sacrifice he almost made for me. So please, let me do this.â
Thalassaâs jaw clenched and unclenched as conflicting emotions run through her eyes. Finally, she nodded even though her expression remained uncompromising.
âFine. You can bring him over, Luisa. But heâll be your guest, not mine. Make sure he knows that.â
1/2 +25 BONUS Chapter 140 Turning, she walked off. Luisa sighed before returning to Krisâs room.
âShe refused, didnât she?â Kris asked immediately.
âOf course not. She agreed because it doesnât bother her at all,â Luisa lied, forcing a smile.
Kris frowned. It couldnât be that easy, could it? A few minutes ago, Thalassa had spoken to him in the warmest way since her return, but sheâd still done it with an expressionless face. So how could she suddenly be fine with him staying in her house?
âLuisa, are you sure? If this bothers her, then...â
âNo, it doesnât bother her. She just left because she had something important to do at the fashion house, thatâs all. So, what do you say? Are you coming to stay with us?â.
Kris remembered how Thalassa had blocked all ways of him getting to her in the last few days. Despite his doubts, he knew he couldnât get a better opportunity than this to get close to her, and he wasnât going to let it slip by.
Nodding, he kept his expression neutral as he replied, âYes, I accept. Thank you.â
