Chapter 814
Bogus Billionaire
Sean said, âBut she doesnât want to admit that Iâm her boyfriend.â
His words left Betty confused.
Sean continued, âStop asking about it. Itâs complicated between us. But Iâll do my best so you can be a grandmother soon.â
Betty asked, âWhat happened to Kirk and Caroline? Why didnât he take her home?â
Sean sighed as he looked at his nosy mother. He figured that she might cause trouble with that curiosity of hers if he didnât tell her about Caroline and Kirk. So he gave her a brief explanation about what had happened.
Betty was stunned after she heard the whole story. âSo this is why we mustnât bring Kirk up in front of Caroline?â
âYes,â answered Sean.
âSuch a pitiful child. I never expected that Kirk, who has always been so focused on his business, would become so obsessed with a woman,â Betty said.
âYeah, who wouldâve thought that Kirk, who stood his ground against Finn, would be reduced to such a pathetic state over a woman?â said Sean.
Betty said, âCaroline has it bad too. The Morrisons are really wicked. They shouldnât have forced her to marry someone who doesnât love her.â
As a woman, Betty could relate to Carolineâs emotional distress better, which made her more sympathetic and compassionate toward her.
The next day, Betty invited Caroline to go sightseeing in an attempt to make her feel more welcome.
Sean didnât object to that. Considering Carolineâs current situation, having someone to hang out with would do her some good.
Betty suggested, âWhy donât we go out to sea? Itâs been a while since I did that.â
âOkay,â Caroline obediently responded.
Betty looked at the well-behaved Caroline affectionately. She also felt bad for her. She couldnât help but glare at her son in disappointment. Sean was puzzled by the look Betty threw his way.
After breakfast, Caroline got into the car and headed to the beach with Betty.
She felt a sense of tranquility and delight at the moment she saw the azure sea and sky. There were several cruise ships near the shore.
Betty shared, âThis is a private area owned by several families. Can you see that cruise ship? It belongs to our family.â
Caroline looked in the direction Betty pointed. There was a luxurious and gigantic cruise ship. It was obviously more expensive than others.
âYes,â said Caroline.
âGo on without me. Iâll catch up with my friends and find you later.â
âOkay.â Caroline obediently got out of the car.
Betty looked at her tenderly and sighed inwardly. She knew she should stop having such thoughts.
Caroline was Kirkâs wife. No matter how capable Sean was, he wouldnât be able to measure up to Kirk.
Caroline didnât know what Betty was thinking. She walked slowly toward the Yatesâ cruise ship. There were already staff members waiting next to the cruise ship. Caroline quickened her pace. Just as she was about to greet the staff, a surprised voice sounded from behind her. âCaroline!â
