Avery’s expression shifted slightly. “Where is she now?”

“She left by plane,” Eddy sneered, slumping on the couch. He felt like his heart had been torn to pieces.

He was in so much pain that it hurt to breathe.

“She must have gone abroad. Don’t worry. Since we’re working together, I’ll keep my word. Remember, I still want to marry Kirk.”

Eddy wasn’t optimistic. “Do we still have a chance?”

“Of course. As long as they’re still alive, we have a shot. You’re not going to give up so soon, are you?”

Hearing her words, Eddy slowly calmed down. “Yeah. As long as she’s still alive, I have a chance. So what should I do next?”

“You don’t have to do anything for now. Since she’s out of the country, I’ll deal with this. I’ll tell you if I need your help.”

Eddy hummed in assent. Then, he asked, “We’re more or less acquainted, right? Can you tell me who you are now?”

Eddy was stunned. “Are you the woman who has been pursuing Uncle Kirk?”

He knew who Avery was because she was well-known in Kirk’s circle. Almost everyone knew that she liked Kirk. He had come to know about Avery from Kirk as well.
