Chapter 800
Bogus Billionaire
Sean asked Kirk, âWhat about me? What can I do?â
Kirk looked at Sean with a frown, remaining silent.
When Sean impatiently asked his question for the second time, Kirk spoke up, âIf I ask you to return home to help me take care of Carrie, would you do it?â
Sean was silent for a moment. He looked at Gwen.
Gwen said, âDonât look at me. If you insist on getting my opinion, of ⦠of course, I hope you can go home and take care of Caroline.
âAfter all, Kirk canât be around her right now. He would feel more at ease if someone was there to take care of her.â
Sean stared at Gwen, a hint of pain swirling in his gaze, âThen ⦠will you go with me?â
Gwen looked at the floor uncertainly. âWhy should I go with you? Itâs your home, not mine.â
âSo youâre saying that you want me to go home and leave you here?â
âI ⦠Can we not talk about this right nowâ¦â
Sean looked at Gwen, displeased. âSo you donât want to leave with me, right?â
âPlease stop forcing me.â Gwen looked at Sean pleadingly.
âRight now, Carol needs you more than I doâ¦â
âIf you donât want to go, I wonât force you.â Kirk spoke up in the nick of time, interrupting them.
âIâll get someone else to take care of Carrie.â
âNo, Iâll do it,â Sean said with a hint of anger.
In the past, Kirk would have agreed with Sean immediately.
However, he had begun learning to think differently, probably because he had experienced the pain of being in a relationship.
âYou guys should properly discuss this. Donât act impulsively. Otherwise, youâll end up like me and Carrie.â
After saying that, Kirk went to his bedroom.
When Sean and Gwen saw how forlorn Kirk was, they both calmed down a great deal.
âIâm sorry. I shouldnât have snapped just now,â Sean took the initiative to apologize to Gwen.
Gwen also apologized, âMe too.â
Then, they fell silent. No one initiated a conversation.
After a moment, Gwen said tentatively, âI know itâs selfish of me to ask you to take care of Carol. But sheâs my best friend. Sheâll be in an unfamiliar place. Iâll feel more at ease if youâre there to take care of her.â
âBut after I leave, I wonât be able to see you again.â
âI understand what you want. You want me to follow you. But remember, Sean, weâve agreed that weâre just friends. Friends donât leave the country and return to their home together.â
âSo after all this time, Iâm still just a friend to you.â
Gwen couldnât say anything in response.
Sean took a deep breath and smiled gently. âForget it. I donât want to end our last conversation with a fight.â
When Gwen heard his words, she felt both happy and sad. âThank you.â
Sean glanced at Gwen, but he didnât say anything in response. âIâll go check up on Kirk.â
âOkay.â
Meanwhile, Cheryl and Jack were also silent in the car.
After a moment, Cheryl said, âJack, weâll never see each other again, right?â
Since Caroline was leaving Easton, Jack would definitely go with her. This may be the last time Cheryl and Jack got to spend time together.
Her words stunned Jack, and he almost hit the car in front of him.
âNot necessarily. After I leave, I can still come back to see⦠to see you.â
âReally?â Cheryl asked expectantly.
When Jack saw her large, tearful eyes, he felt his heart pounding in his chest.
Then, he heard himself say, âM-Maybe you can come with usâ¦â
