Chapter 786
Bogus Billionaire
âCome here.â Eddy didnât care if Caroline agreed to it or not anymore.
He simply took out his phone and took a shot of her wearing the ring and uploaded it on social media.
Even after uploading the photo, he still thought it wasnât enough. He contacted some reporters in the entertainment industry so that the photo made the headlines.
In just a few hours, the news of them getting married became a hot topic. It came as quite a shock to the many gossipers in the entertainment section.
âWhatâs going on? Doesnât Eddy like Layla? Why is he marrying Caroline?â
âIâm flabbergasted. Everyone says that the entertainment industry is a hellhole. Why does it seem like the filthy rich are even more chaotic?â
âIsnât Caroline married already?â
âBreaking news: Laylaâs in a coma now.â
âWhat? What just happened? Wasnât she just fine a few days ago? How did she become like this?â
âIâm not sure, but I heard that she got into an accident. Nobody knows for sure what happened to her.â
âFuck. The social circle of the rich is truly a horrible mess.â
Despite the comments stating that the whole thing was messed up, there were still lots of people who gave Caroline and Eddy their blessings.
âSheâs a princess, and heâs a knight in shining armor. I think theyâre a match made in heaven.â
âYeah! Mr. Morrison Senior had wanted Caroline and Eddy to get engaged back then. Everything just got back on track.â
âCarolineâs a much better match for Eddy compared to that scheming Layla.â
The news stirred up such a commotion that Gwen and Cheryl heard of it without even needing to go online.
Cheryl couldnât stand it anymore, so she sent a message in the group chat. âKirk sees all of this, right?â
Gwen had filled Cheryl and Sonia in about how Caroline had lost her memories, so all of them had learned of Kirkâs true identity.
Sonia replied, âOf course, he does. He watches her every move. How could he not know about this?â
âThenâ¦â Cheryl was at a loss for words, and Sonia fell silent too.
Eventually, it was Gwen who broke the silence. âIâm not worried about Kirk. Itâs Carol Iâm worried about.ââ
âIâm sure she didnât do it on her own accord. Itâs just that she has lost her memories.â
Gwen continued, âShe must have agreed to marry Eddy in a daze.â
âWhat can we do to help her then?â Cheryl asked.
âNothing will work unless we tell Caroline the truth,â stated Sonia.
âBut Dr. Caldwell said that we canât tell her what happened in the past. If we tell her about the past, itâll only trigger her.â
She carried on, âAll we can do is wait for her to regain her memories and become her former self.â
âThatâs right. I know that youâre anxious and that you want to help Carol and Kirk.â Gwen was typing now.
âBut donât forget that it will only make Carol suffer if we tell her about the past.
Gwen had witnessed firsthand how Caroline reacted when that had happened.
âOkay,â replied a helpless Cheryl.
Later, the group chat gradually returned to its former tranquility.
Picking up her phone again, Gwenâs finger hovered above Seanâs profile picture.
She hadnât spoken to him since their fight at the clinic. Even now, she still felt conflicted.
She understood why Kirk had lied to Caroline, but she couldnât forgive him for doing so.
Caroline was her best friend, after all. The issue here was that Sean had taken part in this too.
It reminded her of her father, and it sent a shiver down her spine. Her parentsâ relationship had started falling into ruin after her father had lied to her mom.
He had told her that he had to work overtime when in truth, he had been having affairs with other women.
Gwen lowered her eyes to look at Seanâs profile picture on the screen. She hesitated, failing to find the courage to tap their chat.
