Chapter 783
Bogus Billionaire
The phoneâs ring scared Eddy half to death. He took a furtive glance at the screen to see that the caller was none other than Avery.
He quickly answered the call and vented all his anger on her by lashing out at her.
âDidnât you say that Caroline will definitely marry me after she lost her memories? Why did she resist the idea of marrying me so much when I brought it up to her?â
Stunned by Eddyâs outburst, Avery took a moment to respond.
She laughed and said, âYouâre much too impatient. I told you that I have a plan, didnât I?
âIâm calling you this time to tell you that everythingâs prepared.â
She continued, âJust take Caroline out tomorrow.â
âAre you sure itâll work?â
Averyâs words extinguished Eddyâs flames of rage by a considerable degree, but he still couldnât stop himself from worrying.
âWorry not. My plan will surely work.â She sounded very certain of herself.
âNo woman can resist it.â
Despite that, Eddy didnât believe her.
âCaroline still misses Uncle Kirk even though sheâs forgotten all about him. She just doesnât know that heâs the one sheâs missing,â said Eddy.
âAre you sure that Iâll succeed in proposing to her under these circumstances?â
Annoyed, Avery snapped, âDo you want to marry her or not?â
Eddy didnât give it a second thought. âOf course, I want to!â
âIf thatâs the case, you should just do what I say and take her out tomorrow.â
Averyâs demanding tone made Eddyâs brows crease into a frown, but the thought that he was going marry Caroline soon made him swallow his annoyance. âOkay,â he said.
Now that she had gotten an answer, Avery smiled and hung up. She put her phone down.
Finn, who had been sitting in his armchair all this time, spun around to face her.
âHow did it go? Has Eddy agreed to marry Caroline?â
Avery twirled a lock of her hair in one hand and sneered. âHe planned to marry her since the very beginning. Iâm doing this so that itâs set in stone as soon as possible.â
âDo you think Kirk will give up for good when she marries Eddy?â
Avery raised her eyes to meet him, her gaze vicious. âI know what youâre trying to tell me.
âI donât care if Kirk gives up or not. All I want is for Caroline to marry Eddy so that Kirk becomes single again.â
âIt doesnât matter if she has a place in Kirkâs heart. It has got nothing to do with me.â
She continued, âIâll make him fall in love with me slowly when he returns later.â
âArenât you quite the confident one?â Finn said, his voice dripping with sarcasm, but Avery pretended as if she didnât hear him.
Watching her leave, Finn picked up a pen on the table and toyed with it.
Avery was still young, so she hadnât been through enough to know that love was the hardest thing to ever change.
Unfortunately for her, she might never ever get to marry Kirk.
Early the next morning, Eddy approached Caroline when she was having breakfast.
âLetâs head outside for a walk.â He seemed pretty pleased with himself when he spoke.
Caroline glanced out the window and saw that it was sunny outside. âSure. I also want to head outside and take a look.â
She had been staying here in the house since she had lost her memories and hadnât been out much.
âWeâll leave after breakfast then?â Eddy asked, glancing at Caroline. She nodded.
After filling their stomachs, they got into the car and left. Caroline sat in the backseat and asked, âWhere are we going?â
Eddy looked through the rearview mirror at the driver, who said, âWeâre going to Belrene Square, Ms.
Evans.â
âWhy?â Caroline turned to ask Eddy.
âTo grab something to eat,â said the driver.
Caroline stared at Eddy, confused as to why the person who answered her was the driver and not Eddy himself.
It was as if the driver was the one who had planned their schedule that day.
âYes, weâre going there to eat,â Eddy said, sensing that something was off.
âOkay,â said Caroline.
