Chapter 760
Bogus Billionaire
Soon, Gwen and Caroline arrived at Michaelâs clinic. Gwen had originally planned to wait for Caroline outside the treatment room, but Caroline persuaded her to leave.
âIâll just take a cab home. You should go home for now.â
âAre you sure youâll be fine?â
âDr. Caldwell wants to talk to me alone. I donât know how long it will take, and I donât know how long youâll have to wait if you stay.â
âOkay.â Gwen had no choice but to leave the clinic.
After watching Gwen leave, Caroline turned to Michael. âLetâs begin, Dr. Caldwell.â
Michael hesitated to say something.
Caroline smiled slightly. âIâve already prepared myself.â
âAll right. In that case, come with me.â Michael led Caroline to a special treatment room.
The outer walls of this room were covered in iron. It looked heavily guarded.
Michael opened the door. Caroline saw a chair with a bunch of threatening-looking equipment next to it.
âSit down over there.â
Michael kept close attention to the changes in Carolineâs expression. Seeing that the equipment didnât frighten her, he sighed in relief.
Caroline followed Michaelâs instructions and laid down on the chair, slowly closing her eyes.
Beside her, the nurse stepped forward and attached the equipment to various parts of Carolineâs body.
Although Caroline had mentally prepared herself, she still felt her heart skip at the bone-chilling feeling.
âMs. Evans, please let go of all your distracting thoughts and go to sleep. Imagine that youâre lying on the grassy plains. Youâll see a blue sky when you look upâ¦
Î As expected, Michael was a master in psychology. As soon as he looked at her, he found that Caroline had fallen into a deep sleep./
In her dreams, she seemed to be on the grass, as Michael has described. White clouds floated in the distance, and everything was quiet and beautiful.
She was breathing the fresh air, but at that moment, she heard the sound of lightning and thunder.
She was so frightened that she stood up and ran away.
However, the lightning and thunder were getting closer and closer, as if it were beside her.
Caroline wasnât hallucinating because, in reality, Michael had turned on the equipment-the sound of rumbling spread throughout the room.
The nurse glanced at Caroline worriedly. Sweat began to appear on Carolineâs face. She obviously sensed the danger.
âDr. Caldwell, does she really have to do this?â the nurse asked in distress. She looked at Caroline, who was about the same age as her.
Michael sighed helplessly. âI donât have much of a choice. This is what the patient requested.â
At this moment, Gwen realized she had been deceived. She arrived at the parking lot almost at the same time as Kirk and Sean.
When she got out of the car, she grabbed Kirkâs collar. âKirk, Iâm warning you. Even if youâre SY Groupâs president, I wonât have mercy on you.â
Kirk, who was about to shake Gwen off, narrowed his eyes. He exuded a dangerous vibe.
âWho told you Iâm SY Groupâs president?â
âSo youâre really Eddyâs second uncle! Kirk, you know how much Carol hates the Morrisons. She doesnât want anything to do with them, and yet, you still lied to her. Youâre so cruel!â
Kirk shook off Gwen and strode toward the treatment room. Gwen wanted to catch up to him, but Sean stopped her.
âSean!â Gwen said with gritted teeth, âGet the hell out of my way!â
âCalm down, Gwen! Kirk didnât mean to deceive Caroline!â
âDidnât mean to, you say all because of him that Carolâs going for shock therapy. Thereâs nothing to explain.
âSean, Iâm warning you. If you stop me again, we wonât have any ties with each other. We wonât contact each other again!â
