Chapter 759

Michael was puzzled to see Caroline’s text. “Why?”

Caroline didn’t give him a reason but insisted on getting the treatment the next day itself.

When Michael saw her message, he couldn’t say anything else. After all, the one who was paying had the most say in this.

After deciding on a time for the appointment, Caroline finally found some peace within her panicked heart.

She sat limply in her chair. Now, she just had to wait for tomorrow to arrive.

Even after finishing the call with Caroline, Kirk still had a frown on his face. He did his work absentmindedly.

“Hang on, didn’t Caroline answer your call? Why are you still upset?” Sean asked in confusion.

Kirk said nothing in response. He simply looked at the ground gloomily.

Sean nudged him. Only then did Kirk look up at him.

Then, Sean noticed some emotions swirling in Kirk’s eyes, as if thoughts were brewing in his mind. “W–What’s wrong?”

Kirk pinched the bridge of his nose. “Nothing.”

“It doesn’t look like it.” Sean was worried.

“What happened?”

Kirk let out a nervous breath. “I hope I’m just overthinking things.”

Sean didn’t need much to know that it had something to do with Caroline. “Since you’re so worried, I’ll go with you to see her tomorrow. How about that?” He could also see Gwen in the process.

Kirk finally nodded. “Okay.”

In that case, you should rest soon.”

Judging from Kirk’s condition, he probably wouldn’t be able to keep working “Yeah.”

Tonight was bound to be a sleepless night for Kirk.

Early the next day, Kirk got out of bed and called Sean.

Sean was still asleep. He said grumpily, “Come on, we don’t have to go so early. It’s only 6:00 am.

Don’t worry. Caroline won’t go anywhere.”

Kirk frowned at Sean’s words. “Hurry up and get out of bed. I’m going there now.”

Having no other choice, Sean got up from his bed. After getting into Kirk’s car, he couldn’t help but complain.

“Kirk, I noticed you can never leave Caroline’s side. Tell me, will you go nuts if Caroline leaves you one day?”

Kirk’s expression darkened at his words, and Sean felt his sleepiness fade away from fear.

Realizing that he had said something wrong, Sean hurriedly slapped himself.

“Kirk, don’t take my words to heart. There’s no way Caroline would leave you.”

Kirk gripped the steering wheel. “I hope so.”

Sean wanted to say something to comfort him, but when he saw his friend’s tense expression, he couldn’t say anything.

Just then, a car drove past them. However, both of them were lost in their thoughts. So they didn’t notice it.

In the car, Gwen asked in confusion, “Carol, why are you leaving in such a hurry? Didn’t we say we’ll go sightseeing for two days?”

Caroline tightly gripped the hem of her clothes.

“I’m sorry, Gwen. Something came up on Dr. Caldwell’s end, and he asked me to come over, “Goodness. I can’t believe him. Why did he call you over all of a sudden?” Gwen frowned.

“Carol, there’s nothing wrong, right?”

“Of course.” Caroline smiled lightly.

“Maybe he called me over to discuss my treatment plans. It will be fine.”

“That’s good.” Gwen was finally relieved.
