Chapter 695

Kirk straightened. He filtered through all the minute details from earlier in his mind. Feeling certain that nothing had gone amiss, he enquired, “What is it?”

“Nothing, really. I just feel like it wasn’t him. It’s just a feeling.”

Kirk relaxed instantly. He smiled. “Then what do you think the president of the SY Group should look like?”

Caroline replied, “Well, I can’t say. I just think he doesn’t look like…” She trailed off, her gaze fell on Kirk. “I think the president of the SY Group should look like you.”

Kirk froze. After a moment, he caressed Caroline’s hair and said, “Darling, I think you’re biased.”

Caroline hugged Kirk’s waist. “Well, I do think you’re the best.”

In the driver’s seat, Jack couldn’t help but cough.

Caroline suddenly remembered there was someone else in the vehicle. Her face turned red.

After they arrived home, Caroline sent the pictures she’d snuck of “Kirk” into the group chat.

Everyone, including Sonia, thought he wasn’t as they had expected.

“Aw, and I thought he would be a great hottie. But it turns out he’s just rich.” Gwen lamented in the group chat.

Caroline laughed. “Don’t forget, he’s the richest person in the world.”

Gwen snickered. “Even with all that money, it’s not like he can make himself handsome. I think I prefer someone handsome!”

Everyone in the group laughed.

As they chatted, Cheryl sighed in the midst of scrolling through her phone.

Several people asked, immediately in concern, “What is it?”

“I just saw the news. Mr. Eddy publicly announced that he’ll sponsor Layla and help her acquire the Collins Group.

“What?” Gwen started cursing the second she heard this “Is he fucking stupid? How could he actually be crazy enough to invest in Layla?”

“It’s true.” Sonia had also seen this news. “He admitted it in an interview, too. It wasn’t just in some statement, but it was also a video. Come look. Mr. Eddy sure does love Layla.”

Gwen coughed loudly.

It was only then that Sonia realized she had misspoken. “Sorry, Caroline.”

Caroline chuckled. “I’m fine. Who Eddy wants to be with is none of my business.”

Seeing that Caroline really was fine, Gwen let loose and started bitching. “I wonder if Eddy’s under a spell or something. After the Evanson Corporation, hasn’t he learned his lesson? Is he only going to stop after he bankrupts the Morrison Corporation?”

Caroline said, “No, it’s not a spell. It’s because Layla once saved Eddy’s life. That’s why he helps her unconditionally.”

“She saved Eddy’s life?” All three of them were stunned.

“When was that? Why don’t I know about this?” Gwen was completely clueless.

Caroline recounted what Eddy had told her before. She still couldn’t remember the incident herself, so she could only tell them what Eddy had said.
