Chapter 684

Marietta’s daughter went missing when she was about five years old. The Hackett couple would know if their daughter was secretly replaced with another. It would be impossible otherwise.

The thought made Marietta panic. Aiden and his wife were certain that Yvonne was their biological daughter. If they weren’t her biological parents, they wouldn’t have gone through with the test Marietta questioned if her search efforts were in vain. Just then, the doctor exited the laboratory, with a grim expression.

“Sir..” he said “How is it?” Aiden smiled. “Let Ms. Weiss have a look at the results.”

The doctor wavered.

Aiden noticed his hesitance and immediately sensed something amiss. “What’s wrong?”

Eventually, the doctor told him, “Sir, the results showed that Ms. Hackett isn’t related to you by blood”

Everyone’s expression changed when he finished speaking.

“N–no way! I’m daddy’s daughter!” Yvonne sounded frantic. “There must be something wrong with the report!”

Aiden snatched the report from the doctor angrily. His face fell after he scanned through it. He turned to stare at his wife in disbelief.

Mis. Hackett’s clenched her hands. “What’s wrong, dear? Don’t look at me like that.”

“Yvonne’s not our daughter,” Aiden said. Shocked, she staggered to the point of almost falling completely.

“T–that’s impossible.”

Marietta took the report from Aiden. She confirmed that Yvonne was not related to the Hackett couple.

Looking at the three devastated people before her, Marietta found herself at a loss for words. All she could do was stare in silence.

“No!” Yvonne screamed, her voice full of despair and frustration. “You must’ve colluded with the doctor to give us a false report. Dad, Mom, this can’t fool you!”

Marietta furrowed her brows “Get lost, you lunatic! Don’t try to steal another’s child if you can’t find yours!” Yvonne hollered.

You’re no different than a human trafficker, Scram!”

These words made Marietta’s frown deepen. She understood that Yvonne was emotionally distraught from the sudden revelation. But, this didn’t mean that Yvonne could insult or accuse others.

“I’m sorry.” Marietta’s heart dropped. After so many years of searching for her daughter, she had lost hope once again.

She had imagined that her daughter might not want to admit their relationship. The time she spent with Caroline made her forget that the human mind and heart were complex things.

“I’ll take my leave. We’ll talk about this after everyone has calmed down.” She left the hospital immediately.

Yvonne couldn’t hold back her tears anymore. She threw herself into her mother’s arms and cried her lungs out.

Aiden and his wife locked gazes, their hearts long since shattered into pieces. They didn’t expect this to happen.

Just a moment ago, the three of them were a happy family. They couldn’t understand how they suddenly found themselves to be strangers.

They thought it was strange. Marietta’s daughter went missing when she was around five years old.

The time it happened wasn’t matching up.

Aiden and his wife felt that they couldn’t have mistaken their daughter for someone else at that time.

They all fell silent, each lost in their own thoughts.
