Chapter 626
Bogus Billionaire
Eddy gritted his teeth. âI want Howard to pay for this with his blood.â
âThatâs easy. Iâve already sent people to capture him.â
âGood. You must hand him over to me when the time comes. Iâll make sure heâs in considerable agony.â
Kirk didnât agree to his request but asked, âDo you need help with the other things? For example, the arrangements for the funeral.â
âThank you, Uncle Kirk. But you donât have to worry about that. Caroline would probably come over to help.â
Kirk frowned. âCaroline wants to go there too? Why?â
Eddy didnât notice anything wrong with Kirkâs tone. âShe said she wanted to come over.â
âI donât think thatâs a good idea.â
If Caroline helped arrange Judeâs funeral, she and Kirk would definitely meet there. If that happened, he wouldnât be able to hide his identity anymore.
âI thought so too, but Caroline said she would feel more at ease this way⦠Although no one would blame her for Grandpaâs death, she⦠thought he died because of her â¦â
Speaking of this, both of them fell silent. In fact, it wasnât Carolineâs fault that this had happened.
Nevertheless, no one with a conscience wouldnât feel good about this.
âAlsoâ¦â Eddy raised his voice.
âIâve thought things through, and Grandpa was right. I plan to marry Caroline after things with Grandpa have been settled.â
Kirk narrowed his eyes at his words. Did Eddy know what he was saying?
âCaroline is already married!â Kirk coldly reminded Eddy.
âI know.â Eddy leaned against the cold glass cabinet. He had never been as sure as he was right now.
He had already fallen in love with Caroline. However, he had kept running away from his feelings.
Besides, Layla was his savior, so he had always felt obligated to care for her. His sense of responsibility had rendered him unable to admit that he liked Caroline.
If he had, he had felt like he would be betraying his saviorâs trust.
But Judeâs sudden passing had opened his eyes. In life, anything could happen at any time. After one completely lost something, it would be too late.
For example, Judeâs lifelong wish had been to see Eddy marry Caroline. However, because of his reluctance, Jude had left this world behind with regrets.
âBut I canât have any more regrets, Uncle Kirk,â Eddy declared.
Kirkâs voice turned cold, and he snapped, âWhat about Caroline? Even if youâre doing this not to leave any regrets, have you ever thought about how she feels?â
Eddy could feel Kirkâs anger even through the phone. He straightened up in confusion, feeling a little aggrieved.
He thought Kirk was really biased toward Caroline, even more so than Jude.
However, Jude was the only Morrison who had been kind to Caroline. Eddy had been worried about the cold reception Caroline would get after she married him.
So he felt relieved to see elder in the family have her back.
âI havenât asked for her opinion yet, and nowâs not the time for that. Iâll talk to her after we settle everything for Grandpaâs funeral. Uncle Kirk, you have to speak up for me when the time comes.â
Kirk immediately hung up the phone.
Eddy was speechless at Kirkâs attitude. What was wrong with him? Did Kirk really not want him to marry Caroline?
Eddy admitted that he had let Caroline down, but he swore that he would treat her better this time. Moreover, based on his understanding of Caroline, she would definitely marry him.
This had been her dream since she had been 16 years old. Although a lot had happened since then, Eddy still thought that many things had stayed the same.
As long as he took action, Caroline would definitely go along with his plans.
