Chapter 520
Bogus Billionaire
Caroline wanted to break away from his grip, but Kirk pinned her hand down. She couldnât move an inch However, Kirk looked at her innocently. âRight, darling?â
Caroline blushed so much that she was about to sweat. âKirk!â
âDarlingâ¦â
âMr. Jack, stop the car!â Caroline ordered.
Jack did as he was told.
Caroline pointed outside the door. âHurry up and eat, and get back here when youâre done.â She really wanted to ask Dolly who had given her the order to deceive her.
Kirk objected, âCome with me, darling.â
Caroline frowned. âWhy are you so annoying today?â
He was being so clingy! She didnât remember him being this clingy.
âIâm afraid youâll leave me behind.â
Caroline was dumbstruck. Under Kirkâs pleading gaze, she relented and got out of the car.
They walked into a food store. It wasnât time for a meal, so there wasnât anyone in the store.
The female owner was delighted to see a handsome man and a beautiful woman in her store. She asked enthusiastically, âWhat would you like to have?â
Caroline usually made the decisions when ordering food. However, today, Kirk was acting differently. He immediately answered, âI want some spicy chicken stew.â
Both the female owner and Caroline were speechless at his actions.
As Kirk picked the ingredients for the stew, Caroline noticed him frowning, looking as if he were having a hard time.
She remembered the time when she and Kirk had a barbecue together. Sean had teased Kirk because he had a fancier taste in food. He couldnât eat regular food like this.
Caroline glanced across the road and noticed a shopping mall with several restaurants. She put down the plate and said, âLetâs go to one of the restaurants across the street.â
Kirk followed Carolineâs gaze, and he relaxed his frown. âSure.â
The two of them walked side by side to the restaurant. The normally decisive Kirk spent a full ten minutes deciding on a restaurant. It made Caroline suspect that he was stalling for time.
By the time Kirk was done with his meal, more than an hour had passed. âIâm going to the washroom,â
he informed. Then, he stood up and left.
Caroline remained seated and played with her phone while waiting for Kirk.
Five minutes later, Kirk walked out of the washroom in high spirits.
Caroline couldnât resist asking, âDid you win a lottery or something?â
Kirk smiled. âYeah.â
âWhat did you win?â
âSomething priceless.â
Caroline didnât understand what he meant, so she didnât ask any more questions and got up to pay the bill. However, the staff told her that someone had already paid the bill.
She glanced at Kirk, knowing he was the one who paid. So she went downstairs and got in the car without saying anything.
After Kirk got into the car, Caroline said, âLetâs go, Mr. Jack.â
Jack nodded and drove to the warehouse district in the western suburbs.
On the way, when Caroline looked at the time on the phone, she suddenly remembered a phrase she had seen on the Internet. âNo one can stay happy after seeing whatâs on their partnerâs phone.â
After pondering for a moment, she asked, âCan I look at your phone?â
Kirkâs breath hitched at her words.
When Caroline didnât get an answer, she looked at Kirk and questioned, âWhatâs wrong? Are you still hiding something from me?â
Kirk pursed his lips and remained silent.
He had sent Charles a message on his phone, telling him to prepare for Carolineâs arrival and ensure his identity as Eddyâs second uncle wasnât revealed.
Since he had been in a hurry just now, he had forgotten to delete that message. Once Caroline saw that message, his identity would be-
