Chapter 238
Chasing My Pregnant Wife
Zane shook his head once more. âMadam Jarvis has already made it clear that she doesnât want to
see you. You had better not come
again during this period.â
Rosalie clenched her fists, and suddenly burst into tears. Zane was stunned to see tears trickling
down Rosalieâs cheeks.
âMadam, please donât cry. We can talk things through.â
âI do want to talk things through, butâ¦but Grandma doesnât want to see me, and I feel so upset!â
Rosalie hung her head low, and sobbed harder. She was broken- hearted and her tears were
genuine, and it made for a pitiful sight.
Zane started to panic.
Just then, a phone rang.
Zane pulled out his phone, and said, âHello, Madam Jarvis.â
From Zaneâs words, Rosalie knew that Grandma had called. She cried even harder, as if
deliberately trying to let Rebecca hear.
âAll right.â
Zane hung up, and said to Rosalie, âMadam Rosalie, Madam Jarvis. says you can go in. Sheâs
waiting for you in her room.â
Rosalie cried tears of joy as she turned to head upstairs.
Rebecca was lying on the lounge chair in the balcony when Rosalie approached her cautiously..
âGrandma, these are some snacks that I made especially for you. Try them.â
Rosalie wasnât an expert chef, and she learned how to make them by watching videos online.
Rebecca sighed. âPut them over there.â
Her tone was neither warm nor cold, worlds apart from how eager she always was with Rosalie.
Rosalieâs heart raced like a young student caught doing something. wrong, not daring to lift her
head before her parents.
She placed the plate of snacks on the table and stood by Rebeccaâs side, her head hung low and
not daring to utter a word.
âYou insisted on coming in, crying and kicking up a fuss. Now that youâre here with me, why are you
keeping mum?â
âGrandma, hear me out regarding what happened yesterday. Iâ¦â
Grandma was ready to hear her out, but for some reason, Rosalie froze, unsure of where to begin.
âWhy are you just standing there in a daze? Arenât you going to explain yourself? Go on,â Rebecca
said, looking all ready to hear Rosalie out.
Rosalie took a deep breath and said, âLast night, I did fight with Theodore, but there was a
misunderstanding between us.â
âWhat was the misunderstanding about? That you stayed the night at another manâs place? Was
that not true?â
âGrandma, that was true. I did stay the night at another manâs place.â
Rebecca gripped the armrest of her chair, and turned her face away.
Upon seeing the change in Rebeccaâs expression, Rosalie went on,â But itâs not what you think. His
name is Sebastian Carter, and weâre good friends. Heâs been helping me out over the past few
days.â
âOh, is that so?â Rebecca sneered. âSo thatâs why you stayed the night at his place?â
âGrandma, nothing happened between us. I was feeling very low at that time, and he helped me out
of the goodness of his heart. He didnât want me to be alone, for fear that I might do something
reckless.â
âIt sounds like he really cares for you. Why didnât you come to me instead?â Rebecca asked
morosely.
She doted so much on her granddaughter, yet she didnât come to her at her saddest moments. She
knew that Rose didnât want her to worry, but it still saddened her.
âIâm sorry, I was wrong.â
Rosalie had no explanation for that. No matter what she said, the fact remained that she went to
Sebastianâs. Although nothing happened between them, she was still a married woman at that
time.
âAre you already admitting your mistake? Donât you owe me an explanation? Didnât you say that
there was a misunderstanding?â Rebecca pressed further..
