Chapter 1717

Mr. Kane Got Blacklisted

Stella's words were veiled with sarcasm. Referring to someone as second-hand was undeniably offensive.

It triggered a defensive response from Keegan, "Who do you think you are calling someone second-hand goods?"

Stella paused and said, "Not you, obviously."

As Keegan felt more at ease, Stella continued, "Second-hand goods are those that have been rejected once. Since you've been dumped twice, that categorizes you as third-hand goods."

Her response left Keegan at a loss for words.

"Stella, what's going on between Keegan and me is not what you think—"

"What is it then? Tell me."

Jaylene clenched her fingers and said, "I-I just want Keegan to recover quickly. That's all."

"Strange. Does he recover faster with you around? Are you a doctor? Do you have some miraculous potion that can help him?"

Jaylene did not know what to say, her face turning red. Having a somewhat somber appearance, she became even more pitiable when aggrieved.

Seeing this, Keegan frowned, "Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning? Why are you here attacking her?"

Stella turned to Keegan, "It's because she saved you that I've been showing some mercy." She leaned into Keegan's ear, lowering her voice to a volume only they could hear, and said slowly, "I don't care whether you remember me or not, but every time you stand up for Jaylene, I'll be there to push her down. If you dare be with her, I'll make sure you can never have children."

Her words were delivered gently, but the content sent a chill down Keegan's spine.

When Keegan returned to reality, he noticed that Stella and Baldwin had already walked far away.

"Keegan, do you want some water?" Jaylene called out, and the sound of wind chimes echoed. Keegan shook off his thoughts, reaching out to take the water Jaylene handed to him.

"What did Stella say to you just now?" She asked softly.

"Just some foul language," Keegan replied indifferently.

Jaylene observed his expression and said after a while, "Shall we take a stroll in the backyard?"

Cordelia was in the backyard. Jaylene knew Stella had come to visit her and wanted to see what she was up to.

Cordelia's complexion had improved since Keegan's return. She was tidying up in a wheelchair, directing the gardener in tidying up the neglected garden.

"Be careful! Don't crush the seedlings! Oh dear, why are you so clumsy? Can't you set up a simple vegetable patch? Youngsters these days are all so incompetent. Thankfully, my granddaughter-in-law is more agile than you."

Stella could not help but suppress a laugh and call out to Cordelia, "Grandma."

Cordelia paused upon hearing that. She immediately reverted to a serious expression and said in disdain, "You're here."

Stella lifted the box in her hand and mouthed, "I brought duck."

Cordelia quickly glanced at Baldwin. Seeing that he wasn't paying attention, she cleared her throat and said, "Baldwin, bring over a pot of tea and some pastries."

Baldwin acknowledged her request and left.

Cordelia waved her hand, and Stella immediately understood. She approached and started taking out the vacuum-sealed meat one by one.

Cordelia's eyes lit up, "Baldwin didn't notice, did he?"

"I added dried jasmine flowers on top. Unless Baldwin brings in a police dog, no one will know I brought you these," said Stella.

Cordelia chuckled, "What a clever little thing."

Stella handed her a pair of gloves and asked, "How's your health, grandma?"
