Chapter 384
Hiding the Twins from Their Billionaire Father
S3 127. As Sweet As Chocolate
Avaâs eyebrows rose high. Her blinking implied embarrassment. âWhy did you ask that? Isnât whatâs important now that weâre together?â
Jeremy shook his head slightly. âI already admitted when I started paying attention to you. Now itâs your turn. If you donât want to, then obviously, you were the one who noticed me first.â
Ava let out a small laugh. âYour confidence hasnât changed, hmm?â
âIt actually increased because you were willing to accept me. So, when? Was it the first time we passed each other in the hallway?â
âThe first time I saw you?â Ava took a quick breath. âOf course not.â
âBut you secretly glanced at me.â
âThatâs because I thought you were their bodyguard. I had to be wary of you. At that time, we were enemies, remember?â
Jeremy narrowed his eyes. âAnd then? Was it when I captured yo
Ava shook her head. âAt that time, I was annoyed to death with yo Even to the point where I had to stay at your house, I still thought yo were annoying.â
âOn New Yearâs?â
Ava pursed her lips. âIâm still annoyed with you too.â
âYou glanced at me in the gazebo.â
âThatâs because you were secretly looking at me cynically. I noticed it. Your eyes were hot.â
âBut that night, you held my hand.â
Avaâs eyes widened. âI did?â

âWhen your mother just woke up, you told her the holding my hand. Did you forget?â
good news while
Ava grimaced. âIt must be a reflex from being too happy. It doesnât mean anything.â
Jeremyâs lips moved forward. âSo when did you start paying attention to me?â His tone was heavy, as if weighed down by disappointment. Ava let out a laugh at that.
âI think I started to be interested in you when we took your
grandmother to the airport.â
Jeremyâs eyebrows pressed against his forehead, not expecting it. What happened at that time?â
Ava shrugged. Her lips curved gracefully. âI feel like I found myself in you. And to be honest, Iâm a little jealous and touched to see you
reconcile with your grandmother.â
Jeremy blinked stiffly. âAre you interested or feeling sorry?â
âMaybe both?â Ava joked.
Jeremy wore a disappointed look. Then, I have to thank Grand She made you feel sorry for me. Otherwise, I might have escaped yo
notice.â
âYes, do it. Who knows, your relationship might get even closer.â
After the waiter came with the dishes, Jeremy painstakingly took care of Ava. He spread a napkin across her lap, tell her which spoon to use, and make sure food stains didnât stain her lips.
Their laughter occasionally floated lightly. Jeremy and Ava kept their eyes wide, amazed by the information they were exchanging.
âAre you serious?â Ava covered her mouth as she chewed the last bite of the main course. âNo one would believe that your favorite food is
chocolate.â
âWhatâs the harm? Chocolate is delicious.â Jeremy raised his hands
with widened eyes. âAnd the ingredients in it make us relax.â
âYes, but it doesnât suit your physical appearance and character. Youâre too fierce to carry chocolate candy everywhere.â
Jeremy blinked stiffly. âI always have it ready in the car.â
âYes, I know. I saw it in the drawer. I thought it belonged to Louis or Emily.â Avaâs voice sounded lighter between laughs. She didnât realize that Jeremyâs expression was starting to become clouded with doubt.
âSo, you seriously donât like chocolate?â
Ava calmed her amusement. âYes, chocolate is too sweet for me. But if chocolate is bitter, maybe I like it.â
Hearing that, Jeremyâs shoulders regained strength. His eyes turned bright. âActually, our dessert is chocolate. I was afraid that tonight would be ruined because of the wrong menu choice. But it was dark chocolate. You donât mind, right?â
Avaâs cheerfulness instantly disappeared. She just realized that Jeremy was worried because of her joke.
âYou donât need to worry, Jeremy. I eat everything. Itâs not that I hate chocolate. Itâs just that itâs not at the top of my list of favorite foods.â
Jeremy nodded lightly. âYeah, I know. Apples are number one. But especially for tonight, I hope you can put chocolate on the top
top.â
Avaâs lips curved again. âIndeed, what chocolate did you order?â
Jeremy raised his right hand. Two waiters rushed to take away the empty plates then another came with a large chocolate ball that almost filled the whole plate. The sprinkle of strawberry slices around it looks like rose petals at first glance.

âWow, this is very beautiful! But why is there only one? Do we have to share?â Ava raised an eyebrow.
Jeremy lifted the corner of his lips. âThis is a special chocolate ball. There is only one in the world. Pour this hot chocolate on it. Later the ball will melt and show whatâs inside.â
Ava watched the brown ball, nodding. âIt must have been difficult to make. Itâs natural for you to call it special.â
âCome on,â Jeremy handed Ava the cup, âpour it now. Itâs going to get
cold.â
Ava nodded casually. âWhatâs in it? Is it ice cream?â
âJust do it then youâll know. Pout it right at the top, slowly, but donât let it spill onto the inside. Just melt the dome.â
Ava chuckled. âOkay. The twins should see this. I think theyâll be happy. Or have they already try it themselves?â
âThe one they poured on is different from this one,â Jeremy whispered. Then, he carefully watched the chocolate start to melt.
As the hole began to widen, Jeremyâs heartbeat crawled up his throat. He had to take a deep breath to maintain his expression. Ava didnât
realize his nervousness.
âLook! The chocolate ball is melting. Itâs so pretty and fun. Oh?â
Ava froze as her eyes accidentally crossed the inside of the ball. Not only was the ice cream there, but also a sparkling diamond reflecting the light.
âJeremy?â She gripped his arm, but her eyes remained fixed on the transparent stone.
âYou prepared this for me?â Ava turned around with teary eyes.
Witnessing her emotion, Jeremyâs smile became perfect. âYeah. Is it too cute?â
Ava let out a sigh of disbelief. Her lips trembled out of the turmoil in her heart. âYouâve bought a lot of things for me today, but you still give me a ring.â
Smiling faintly, Jeremy pulled the ring from the ice cream. He cleaned it with a special cloth then stood up. The waiter swiftly moved his chair away. Then, in front of Ava, he bent his knees.
âSorry that only now can I give you a real ring. With this, people wonât think youâre crazy anymore.â
Ava sighed heavily. As best she could, she controlled herself not to
cry.
âThen how about this one?â She showed Jeremy her ring finger. âI
donât want to throw this away.â
Jeremy snorted a laugh. âYou can move it to another finger or stack it
with this one.â
Tilting her head to one side, Ava put her hand into Jeremyâs begging palm. âThen just stack them. Let them blend together.â
Sighing in amusement, Jeremy squeezed her fingers. His head hung low, thinking about how lucky he was to hold that hand.
âWhen Kara said that a proposal was just a formality, it slapped me hard. I realized that every woman deserves an impressive proposal because they are very valuable, especially you.â
Jeremy looked up, letting Ava soak in the sincerity in his eyes.
âYouâve let me have you. Of course I have to give you the best. This ring is a witness to my promise to you, until I put another, stronger ring on you-our wedding ring.â

Jeremy took a deep breath and exhaled quickly. Avaâs shady gaze made his heart beat even wilder.
âAva Connor, finding you is the beginning of a new chapter in my life. Being with you is how I want to live the rest of my life. Therefore, would you be willing to be the main figure in my life?â
