Chapter 999
When Love Comes Late
Stella smiled to reassure her.
âItâs fine, Grandma.
I know.
And itâs not important anymore.
â
Lucia narrowed her eyes suspiciously, then relaxed, feeling relieved after she was certain Stella wasnât upset.
âBut now that things are cleared, Iâll ask Matthew to get remarried with you in his current name.
â
Stella felt like it would only be bothersome and was about to refuse but was cut off before she could say anything.
âThatâs exactly what I plan to do,â said Matthew.
As Stella turned around, she found herself looking into Matthewâs intense gaze.
Lucia, observing their interaction, said earnestly, âIâm glad youâre thinking this way.
Stella, as part of our family, deserves the best.
We must ensure she doesnât face any hardships.
â
âI know,â Matthew responded and approached Stella, enveloping her in a natural embrace.
Stella instinctively tried to push him away, unaccustomed to such public displays of affection, especially in front of Lucia.
But Matthewâs hold only tightened.
He gazed down at her with an affectionate intensity in his eyes.
Stella, feeling overwhelmed, averted her gaze and placed her hands against his chest, seeking some space.
After a moment, Matthew redirected his attention to Lucia, his expression softening to normal.
âGrandma, Stella and I are doing well.
You donât need to worry.
â
Lucia had been observing them keenly.
Despite Stell
aâs apparent resistance, Lucia sensed it was more out of shyness than anything else.
With a pleased smile, she took out her phone.
âLet me take some photos of you two for Waldo and Stellaâs grandpa.
â
She proceeded to capture dozens of images, happily commenting, âYou two are a perfect match.
â
Lucia felt a sense of pride in her choice of granddaughter-in-law.
The evident affection between Stella and Matthew filled her with satisfaction.
Stella, however, grew increasingly uncomfortable under the cameraâs gaze and lowered her head subtly.
