Chapter 979
When Love Comes Late
Iâll help however I can.
â
Aileen looked lost, her eyes dull.
Suddenly remembering something, Aileen stopped, called Stella over, and pulled out a notebook from her bag.
Stella was puzzled.
âItâs Farrisâ diary,â Aileen said through tears.
âYour nameâs all over it.
I think you should have it.
â
Stella accepted the diary, its black leather cover smooth and sturdy.
She ran her fingers over it, trying not to cry, but her eyes reddened.
Clutching the notebook tight, she whispered, âThanks.
â
After Aileen left, Stella stood frozen, gazing at the diary.
Finally, she slowly opened it.
It was only half-filled, but her name was on every page, from start to finish.
Stella was leafing through the pages when memories of her encounter with Farris flooded back.
âJust a few days ago, someone approached me for a surgery on an elderly man from Bysea.
Turns
âI heard Stellaâs married to Matthew, the famous CEO of Seamarsh.
She really landed a great guy.
Guess I shouldnât have disturbed her life again.
â
Before she knew it, Stella reached the diaryâs final page, two hours having slipped by.
Standing alone in front of the gravestone, she lost track of time, only snapping back to reality when her phone buzzed.
It was Matthew, texting, âAll done? Do you need a ride?â
Stella shut the diary, gave a respectful nod to the gravestone, and walked away.
She texted back, declining Matthewâs offer as she descended the hill.
After Matthewâs reply, she pocketed her phone.
Looking up, Stella noticed a man in a wheelchair, pausing at a step.
After a brief hesitation, she approached and offered, âExcuse me, Sir, need a hand?â
The man turned around.
