Chapter 1812
Burning Passion: Love Never Die
Blair thought about it carefully. She wasnât so confident about singing
âThe Fishâ tonight.
There was a part in the middle of the song that fell almost two octaves higher than normal. If she
couldnât hit those notes well, she would sound terrible and the entire song would be ruined!
Wesley noticed that she had been absent-minded the whole time and finally couldnât help it. He asked
in a low voice, âYou donât want to see the show?â
A N G E L A âs L I B R A R Y
His sudden voice snapped her back to reality. She shook her head.
âItâs not that. I was just⦠thinking about my uncleâs words.â
âWhat did he tell you?â Wesley knew Adalson had taken her to his office earlier.
Blair stole a glance at his side face.
âWellâ¦did you read the programs list?â
âNope. I wasnât the one who organized the program so itâs not my business.â
âOhâ¦â Blair decided not to tell him about her performance later. She had no idea how he would react.
She assured him she was okay and began to focus on the show on stage.
Most of the performers tonight had been hired from one or the other entertainment companies that
graced the city. The performances were colorful and interesting and of numerous types: cross-talk,
sketch, dancing, singing, magic show, everything was there. It was as wonderful as a New Year Gala.
Wesleyâs phone rang a few times during the program. He took it out and dismissed the call every time.
Finally, he began texting someone.
It was going to be Blairâs turn very soon. Nervous, she felt that her hands were sweating. Sheâd never
sung in front of so many people; most of it had been in bars and karaoke nights, and moreover, Wesley
was one of the audience tonight.
She took a deep breath and stood up from her seat. She whispered to him, still deciding not to tell him
the whole story, âI need to go out for a minute. Iâll be back in a minute.â
Wesley wanted to escort her out at first. But seeing her holding her phone in her hand, he assumed
that she was going to make a call. She loved talking to Joslyn. Besides, this was a military base and it
was completely safe there. So he merely nodded and watched her leave, oblivious of the upcoming
show he was about to witness.
As soon as she reached the door, Blair received Adalsonâs call.
âGet to the back stage and get yourself prepared. Iâve arranged for someone there to help you. Hurry
up.â
âOkay,â she said quickly and hung up. She was too nervous to talk.
Blair asked a soldier guarding the door to show her the way to the back stage. He merely pointed her
the right way and did not leave his post.
When she reached there, a worker was indeed waiting for her. The worker asked Blair if she needed to
get changed. In response, she looked at herself-she was dressed in a pink, long, and thin jacket.
âNo need.
Just a little bit of lipstick will be okay.â
She wasnât the heroine of the evening show, and she didnât want to attract too much attention. As long
as she didnât look terrible, she was fine by her appearance.
