Chapter 9 He Already Has a Crush The call was from Cicely.
Claudia answered the phone call, âHello, mom.â
Cicely continued in a fret on the phone, âGet back now. I have something to talk to you.â
After a few seconds of silence, Claudia replied, âOK.â
Cicely was the one who took care of Claudia most in the Lamont family. After all, Cicely had paid the medical and other expenses for Eleanor.
Edmond had wished Claudia to keep their divorce from Cicely when Claudia had asked for it.
However, no one could keep anything from anyone forever. Someday Cicely would know about the divorce.
It was drizzling outside. And the rain was falling down Claudiaâs umbrella.
Claudia folded the umbrella and stopped at the entrance of a villa.
It was a detached villa, so large that it could be considered a small estate. Claudia used to be a misfit in the villa when she moved in. Nevertheless, Cicely hadnât looked down upon Claudia but helped her get accustomed to the new life in the villa.
However, everything was completely different...
Claudia knocked on the door, and Cindy opened the door.
0.009 11:15 Cindy smiled amiably. âHello, Claudia. And Mrs. Lamont is waiting for you.â
As soon as Claudia walked in, she noticed Cicely checking her cell phone on the sofa. Cicely frowned as if she was reading something unpleasant.
âThere you are.â Cicely raised her head and saw Claudia. Cicely patted the spot next to her and said, âCome here.
âIâve known what youâve been through, my girl. Iâm sorry about that.â Cicelyâs eye rims were slightly red, indicating that she had secretly cried. âItâs Edmondâs fault. He doesnât know how kind you are. Youâve helped him a lot. And Edmond shouldnât treat you so badly. Edmond will come back soon. Iâll let you two have a talk.â
After hearing Cicelyâs words, Claudia felt uneasy. âMom, Edmond and I...â
âI understand you donât crave money and fame. And your personality makes you vulnerable. I told myself not to meddle in your marriage before. But I canât let you two break up now.â Cicely held Claudiaâs hands tights with tears in her eyes. âClaudia, I cherish you so much. And Iâd choose you to be my kid, not even Edmond.â
Cicelyâs words made Claudia feel moved. It was Cicelyâs care to Claudia that Claudia could live a better life in the Lamont family over the past years.
Claudia sobbed. âEven if I donât want the divorce, Edmond will ask for it.â
In addition, Claudia didnât know whether she should tell Cicely what Edmond had told her on their wedding night.
On the wedding night, Edmond had told Claudia that she could have money and status from him, but not love.
Chapter Abeady as a viven Therefore, Claudia thought Edmond had already had a crush on someone else.
1401Vouchers Claudia had tried to be a good wife to Edmond over the years, wishing Edmond would fall in love with her someday. However, Claudia understood that she could not reach a settlement with Edmond unless Edmond stopped cherishing Rosalie, âI know Rosalie is a problem for you. But donât worry. I wonât let her marry Edmond.â Cicely narrowed her eyes, with a gleam of sternness flashing in her eyes. âI donât care about how rich her family is, and she wonât be my daughter-in-law.â
In Cicelyâs thought, Rosalie was a complete paramour, and such a shame for being a woman.
Looking at Claudia, Cicely decided to confess to Edmond that the blame should be on her, not Claudia, for what had happened that night.
In addition, Cicely would tell Edmond what Claudia had secretly sacrificed for him over the years and how much Claudia loved him. Cicely thought, âEdmond must be regretful if he betrays Claudia.â
âDonât worry. I know the dispute between you two. And Iâll settle all the misunderstandings for you two tonight,â said Cicely.
Cicelyâs words didnât cheer Claudia up.
Claudia pursed her lips, saying in her mind, âWe cannot make it up even if all the misunderstandings are resolved.â
Claudia opened her mouth slightly and was about to explain. Suddenly, someone broke in and interrupted Claudia.
The person was Edmond, Unexpectedly, Rosalie was following Edmond behind.
Seeing Rosalic, Cicely stood up abruptly. âWhy are you here?â
Rosalie felt wronged and timidly hid behind Edmond, saying in a low voice, âCicely.â
âGet out!â Cicely showed Rosalie the door without hesitation.
âI brought Rosalie here,â said Edmond.
Cicely shivered out of anger because of Edmondâs words. âDo you know what you are doing? How could you bring Rosalie here?
Are you embarrassing your wife? Let her out. I want to talk to you.â
Edmond turned to look at Claudia. Thinking how Waldron had ruined his reputation for Claudia, Edmond looked much colder.
Edmond had only doubted the relationship between Waldron and Claudia before. But Edmond thought his guess was right at that moment.
After all, Waldron had risked the gossip between Claudia and him.
Edmond pursed his lips and looked away.
âClaudia and I have divorced,â said Edmond.
After hearing Edmondâs words, Cicely became astonished. âWhat are you saying?â
âWe have already signed the agreement and got the divorce certificate,â Edmond answered, glancing at Claudia.
Claudia said nothing but smiled bitterly.
Claudia thought, âThereâs only an agreement but no divorce certificate.
Chapter 9 ite Already Has a Crush 40 Vouchers I know Edmond wants to put an end to Cicelyâs desire for us to remarry.â
Although Claudia had decided not to remarry Edmond, Edmondâs words inevitably hurt Claudiaâs feelings.
Rosalie stood by with a little wicked smile.
Cicely discerned Rosalieâs smile. âEven though you two got a divorce, I wonât allow Rosalie to marry into our family.â
âCicely, do you loathe me?â
Rosalie blurted her words as she didnât want to get bullied.
As a noble lady of the Clayton family, almost everyone tried to flatter Rosalie, and even Cicely used to like Rosalie.
However, Rosalie couldnât understand why Cicely hated her so much without a sign. And Rosalie couldnât accept the hatred from Cicely.
Cicely couldnât help sneering as she couldnât expect Rosalie to say those words.
Rosalieâs question seemed so stu pid that Cicely wanted to cast it aside.
Cicely made no effort to roll her eyes. âYes, I do.
âYouâve hurt Tristen. And now youâre trying to hurt Edmond. How could I like you?
âYou caused Tristenâs death. And now youâre breaking Edmondâs family. Please tell me why I should like you. Rosalie, youâre so shameless to ask me that stu pid question.â
Suddenly, tears welled up in Rosalieâs eyes.
Chapter 9 ite Already Has a Crush 40 Vouchers Claudia was astonished by Cicelyâs words.
It was not surprising that Claudia knew that Cicely had two sons. However, Claudia used to think Edmondâs elder brother Tristen Lamontâs death was an accident. Therefore, Claudia felt shocked that it had something to do with Rosalie.
Rosalie clenched her sleeves, looking pleadingly at Cicely. âCicely, please give me a chance to be your daughter-in-law.â
âStop! How shameless you are!â Cicely stood up. âIf it werenât for you, Tristen wouldnât have died. You brought disaster!â
Hearing Tristenâs death, Rosalie refuted with hatred gleaming in her eyes, âCicely, I told you his death had nothing to do with me.â
Claudia was standing aside, looking grim-faced.
Claudia thought, âDid Tristen die in a fire?
Cicelyâs words are a little elusive.
Is there another story about Tristenâs death?â
Rosalie wore an innocent smile. âCicely, if you do miss Tristen, you should let Edmond marry me. Tristen is a kind man, and he must hope Iâll be happy...â
Cicely couldnât stand Rosalieâs words and raised her hand to slap Rosalie fiercely.
A second later, Rosalieâs face became swollen.
Edmond instantly put Rosalie behind his back. âMom!â
âOut now!â Cicely pointed at the door with a cold face.
( Auready Mad & Gen âCicely, Iâm sure Claudia has a big surprise for you.â Rosalie wore an evil smile. Waldron had been to a hospital a couple of days ago secretly. Therefore, Rosalie guessed Claudia was pregnant with Waldronâs kid as she thought Claudia and Waldron had a tryst.
Rosalie thought, âCicely must lose her marbles if she knows Claudia is pregnant with Waldronâs kid.â
âItâs none of your business. Claudia will always be my daughter-in-law! As for you, youâre always a shameless home wrecker, trying to break Claudiaâs family!â Cicely turned to stare at Edmond with anger. âIf you still think I am your mother, let Rosalie out!â
âEdmond...â Rosalie got frightened and instantly hid behind Edmondâs back with timidity.
Since Edmond didnât do anything, Cicelyâs face was livid with anger. Suddenly, Cicely got so weak and fell backward.
âMom!â
âCicely!â
***
Cicely was carried into the emergency room of a hospital.
Looking at the familiar corridor, Claudia started to tremble slightly.
The last time Claudia had been in the corridor, she had been saddened by the news of her grandmotherâs death.
âThe blame is on me...â Rosalie wore a sad face. âIf it werenât for me, Cicely wouldnât have fainted.â
Watching the familiar emergency room, Claudia recalled the day when her grandmother had passed away.
stop!â
Instantly, Rosalie stopped her tears.
A renewed sense of hatred surged within Claudia when she turned to look at Rosalie coldly.
âEdmond...â Rosalie hid behind Edmondâs back. At the same time, Edmond was keeping a straight face towards Claudia.
Claudia pursed her lips and kept the same straight face. âI think you should send her away before your mom wakes up.â
âNo!â Rosalie became flustered. âIâll stay here to look after Cicely. Edmond, please donât let me go. Iâll take good care of her to ask for forgiveness.â
âAsk for forgiveness?â Claudia sneered.
At the same time, Claudia thought, âRosalie didnât feel guilty for my grandmotherâs death. ·
How ridiculous that sheâs asking for forgiveness because of Cicelyâs faint!â
Chapter 10 Divorce âRosalie, if you really want to atone for your crime, go away and leave my mom alone. She doesnât want to see you.â
âEdmond.â Rosalie held Edmondâs hand. âIâm not leaving. You know how much Cicely used to like me. Someone mustâve badmouthed me in front of her.â
âGo away, Rosalie,â said Edmond.
Rosalie was stunned, seemingly unable to believe her ears.
âI am tired,â said Edmond.
Rosalie looked at Edmond who wore a tired face, feeling upset.
Rosalie didnât expect Edmond to drive her away.
Rosalieâs face was pale. She almost fell and said slowly, âThen I will wait for you outside.â
Rosalie glared at Claudia and ran away.
Then only Claudia and Edmond were left in the long corridor.
Claudia looked at the door of the emergency room, feeling distressed.
Claudia looked at Edmond and said, âWe should have a divorce as soon as possible.â
Since Claudia had had a showdown, it would be better to have a divorce as soon as possible.
Edmond wanted to ask about Waldron, but finally said, âOkay.â
Claudia looked at the man whom she liked for many years, feeling agonized.
They would have a divorce at last.
Claudia wanted to find out the truth about her grandmotherâs death, and she had to leave Edmond.
The door of the emergency room was opened. A doctor walked out and took out his mask, revealing his serious face. He said, âThe patientâs head was struck. A slight concussion.â
Claudia let out a sigh of relief.
âHowever...â the doctor paused for a while and said, âwe noticed that her org ans are diseased. Further check is advised to take.â
Her org ans were diseased!
Claudia almost fell.
Claudiaâs grandmother once had diseased org ans, and she was later diagnosed with terminal cancer.
During the three years of her marriage with Edmond, it was Edmondâs mother Cicely who had kept Claudia company. Cicely was more likely Claudiaâs friend, who warmed Claudia.
This time, it couldnât be a minor illness.
Claudia was sorrowful.
Looking at the doctorâs serious face, Edmond had a bad feeling for it.
âGive her a full work-up. Then what else can we do?â
âKeep her company and talk with her more. The sequel of concussion Chapter 10 Divorce canât be neglected.â
After the doctor left, Claudia looked at Edmond and found a sad face.
Edmondâs brother died. Then his father passed away. Now his mother was seriously ill. Claudia found that Edmond was also a poor guy.
Claudia said flatly, âThere is not the final result. Maybe the situation is not so bad.â
Edmond looked at Claudia for a while. He bit his lips and nodded.
The nurse sent Cicely who was sleeping to the ward. Just as Edmond and Claudia were about to walk to Cicely, Rosalie immediately ran over.
âYour mom is sent to an ordinary ward. She must be fine soon.â Rosalie smiled and said, âI know that your mom will be fine soon.â
Rosalieâs smile was weird in the quiet ward.
Finding no smiles on.Claudiaâs and Edmondâs faces, Rosalie didnât finish her word. âWhatâs wrong?â
âYou go home now,â Edmond finally said, âand we talk about it next time.â
Edmond didnât want to see Rosalie.
Rosalie was upset.
Finally, Rosalie had to nod and said, âOkay.â
If it was the past, Rosalie would ask why. Now Claudia was here, Rosalie was afraid that she would lose Edmondâs heart.
Rosalie had to nod and pretend that she knew nothing.
