On a bright afternoon, people saw a little girl walking cheerfully. She was wearing elementary school clothes with a bag at her waist. The little girl was Amaya when she was 9 years old.

“Amaya is home!!!”

She said enthusiastically after turning the doorknob and opening the door. Then she immediately entered, closed the door, took off her shoes, and put them on the rack. Amaya walked toward the kitchen without hesitation.

If when she came home from school her older sister wasn’t there to greet her, it was likely that she was busy in the kitchen.

“Alright, everything’s clean!”

Sure enough, there she found her older sister inspecting the kitchen from end to end. She seemed to have finished cleaning, with a satisfied expression on her face.

“Sister,” Amaya called out to her older sister. “Amaya’s home!”

Her older sister turned around and looked at Amaya. Liora, with a wide smile on her face, looked delighted to see her beloved younger sister had returned.

“Welcome home, Amaya.”

“Where are you going, sis?” Amaya asked curiously. As far as she remembered, her older sister would only clean the kitchen this quickly if she had plans for the evening.

“I’m not going anywhere,” Liora shook her head.

“It’s just that the game I’ve been waiting for finally opened its servers tonight.”

Amaya nodded in understanding; her older sister loved playing video games. Their parents didn’t forbid it much, partly because they were busy, but also because her older sister was very smart!

Amaya hadn’t met anyone her sister's age who was smarter than her older sister. Amaya’s older sister was a super genius person!

“I want to play too!” Amaya said with a pout. For some reason, she really didn't like video games taking away from her time with her older sister.

Liora chuckled as she watched Amaya puff out her cheeks, then gently patted her on the head.

“Amaya, you're still too young to play VR games.”

“Wait until you’re in sixth grade, then we’ll play together.”

“Okay…” Amaya said half-heartedly, still unhappy. But the pat on the head from her older sister was enough to improve her mood.

“Dinner is in the fridge; just heat it up in the microwave.” Liora pulled her hand away from Amaya’s head.

“It’s your favorite food, corn soup.”

“Yeah! Corn soup!!!”

Amaya joyfully raised both hands in the air and jumped up and down.

“Enough already…” Liora gently calmed Amaya down.

“Change your clothes first, then eat.”

“Okay, Big sis!!!” With a wide smile, Amaya quickly walked out of the kitchen toward her room on the second floor. Seeing this, Liora could only chuckle softly.

***

“Gotcha!!!”

Amaya exclaimed after seeing the card she drew from the top of her deck.

“No way!”

Lisa shouted in disbelief. A deck like Amaya’s rarely contained many unit cards. She had a better chance of drawing a Divine Instrument. But not a unit!

“Amaya…”

Liora fell to the ground like a puppet whose strings had snapped, but before her lower body hit the grass, a hand caught her and helped her stand.

“Thank you…”

Liora said, looking at Nicholas.

“No need. As a man, that’s what I should do.”

Nicholas shifted his gaze to one player in the fight. The Lantern Holder, or Amaya as Liora called her. He was sure he’d seen her face somewhere before. But Nicholas didn’t recall knowing anyone named Amaya.

“Is she someone important to you?” Nicholas asked. This was the first time he’d seen Liora act so emotionally.

“She’s my younger sister…”

“Ah…”

‘Damn!’ Nicholas cursed inwardly. ‘This is a family matter; it’s better if I don’t pry further.’

“I reveal the card I just drew!”

Amaya confidently showed the card she drew through Frontier Protocol Elana.

“Grace for you!”

“Healing Angel, Aveline!”

“With this, I heal as much as Aveline’s power!”

Amaya’s LP 0 => 800

“Then, since I healed this turn, Aveline’s Trigger Skill activates!”

Once again, Amaya revealed the card in her hand.

“I summon her to the arena and heal as much as I received this turn!”

Amaya’s LP 800 > 1,600

“Elana’s Frontier Protocol forcibly ends your turn!”

Lisa clicks her tongue; her victory was just a few steps away.

“You’re only delaying the inevitable, Amaya!”

“No!” Amaya protested. “The inevitable outcome has changed because of the miracle Elana granted me!”

“You don’t have enough power to defeat me!” Lisa stated the undeniable fact. Ashendoom’s power was 3,000, while in Amaya’s arena, Elana was the unit with the highest power at 2,500, which was still far from enough to breach Lisa’s defenses.

“Your miracle is completely useless!”

“It doesn’t matter,” Amaya replied calmly.

“If once isn’t enough, I’ll create a miracle over and over again,”

‘even if my sister keeps pushing me away,’

“until finally,”

‘until I can…’

“The miracle will be enough!”

‘to make you happy!’

“DRAW!!!”

“OP limit increase, I generate 6 OP.”

“Angel who watches over the divine instrument.”

“whoever sings prayers, no matter what she does,”

“Accompany me and let us calm the petals that bring destruction!”

“Guide Call!”

“Elana, help me once more!”

Elana walks over and stands beside Amaya.

“Elana’s skill is active.”

“I reveal the Divine Blessing card in my hand and activate one Divine Instrument without paying OP.”

“I activate Divine Instrument - Violence Violin!”

“I attach it to Elana. For each Divine Instrument in my rest zone, Violence Violin grants the attached unit 500 power.”

“Since there are 4 Divine Instruments in the rest zone, Elana gains an additional 2,000 power.”

“Battle!”

“For each card attached to her, Elana gains one additional opportunity to attack.”

“Elana attacks Ashendoom!”

Playing the violin in her hands, Elana plays the Divine Instrument gracefully. The sacred melody she makes manifests and moves around Ashendoom, binding him tightly.

“It’s not over yet!”

“Elana direct damage!!!”

Lisa screams in pain as the painful sound enters her ears.

The second match of the Desire Battle has ended.

Lantern Holder won and is worthy of advancing to the next round.
