After explaining about my situation, Grave made a request to guildâs top two.
I was but an outsider who was suddenly brought in by one of the guildâs members. Not to mention, I had been banished by the kingdom.
Theyâd surely refuse.
Grave had assured me, but the expressions of the two were harsh.
Gokuri.
I held my breath.
âAlright, thatâs fine with me.â Said Rigard.
Eh?
That easily?
âItâs not a really a problem, isnât it? Donât you think so too, Teresia?â
âHmmâ¦â
Teresia stared at me.
Unlike Rigard, whom was laidback, Teresia seemed strict. For someone like her to allow a total stranger like me to stayâ¦
ââ¦Well, it canât be helped. You have nowhere else to go.â
Unexpectedly, both of them readily agreed.
I couldnât believe what I had just heard and glanced at Grave.
Our gazes met.
Upon realizing how shocked I was, he smiled.
âI said it, didnât I? Itâll be fine.â
âYesâ¦â
âGrave, since youâre the one who brought her here, you have to take care of her.â
âI know, big sis. Also, the talk about her real identity shanât leave this place.â
âOf course, like always.â
âLike alwaysâ?
I was confused.
Then, Teresia turned towards me and said.
âYour name is Liliana, isnât it?â
âC, correctâ¦â
âIâm not against the idea of you staying here, but have you thought about what youâre going to do from now on?â
âFrom now onâ¦â
Be it my home, or my jobâI had lost them all.
I no longer had anything.
It was as Teresia saidâI had to think about what to do from now onâ¦
Butâ¦
ââ¦I, I havenât.â
âI see.â Said Teresia.
âIt canât be helped. Youâve gone through a lot. You need to sort out your feelings first, only then will you be able to contemplate the future. Thatâs what you meant to say, right, big sis?â Said Grave.
ââ¦You took the words right out of my mouth. Now I feel awkward, geez.â Said Teresia.
ââ¦You shouldâve said it from the start, then.â Said Rigard.
Upon hearing that, Teresia smacked his head with her fist.
âThat hurts! Iâm being abused, moreover, in public!â
âHad you not said anything unnecessary, I wouldnât have hit you! Also, donât you have work to do?â
âUh, right⦠sorry, Grave, I leave the rest to you.â
âItâs alright. Boss, would you like me to help you?â
âYouâll help me!?â
âStop it, Grave. Donât spoil this guy.â
ââ¦Well, big sis has spoken. Please do your best.â
ââ¦Dammit.â
After the conversation was over, Grave and I left the room.
It seemed that the two would remain there and finish their work.
I was curious about what a guildâs duties entailed, but that was when my stomach decided to rumble.
âLetâs have dinner. It shouldâve been prepared at the cafeteria.â
I nodded and went downstairs with him.
When I was caught by the rain in the alley, I couldnât even walk on my own.
Now, I could for some reason.
Perhaps because I had taken a bath, changed my clothes, and regained some peace of mind?
Orâ¦
âWelcome! Weâve been expecting you both!â
âHow are you, Anna? Whereâs Yorn?â
âMom has retired to her room. She already cooked the food, so Iâll serve it now!â
âAlright, thank you very much.â
From the kitchen, Anna brought out the food.
The dishes were spread across on the table.
âTime to eat, câmon!â Said Anna.
âUmmâ¦â
Is it really alright?
I turned towards Grave.
With a gentle expression, he nodded.
âThanks for the food!â
Nom, nomâ¦
The taste spread throughout my mouth, and my entire body shook.
âItâs great!â
âRight?! Momâs cooking is the best in the world!â
Anna smiled proudly.
It was truly delicious.
Although a while had passed since I had last eaten, Iâd prefer that dish over the ones I had in my former kingdom.
I felt my mind and body warming up.
Because of the taste, I couldnât wait to savor every bite.
In the middle of it, I stopped eating.
âWhatâs wrong?â Said grave.
ââ¦Why did you let me stay here so easily?â
Before I noticed it, I had spoken out my thoughts.
Anna answered. âThatâs what we always do.â
ââ¦Always?â
Didnât Teresia mention something similar?
âThe boss is too kind, he canât overlook those whoâre in trouble. Most of those people here have also lost the place they could call home.â Said Anna.
ââ¦Rather than kind, your boss is too trusting.â I said.
âThe same goes with Grave!â Said Anna.
âI donât think I amâ¦â Said Grave.
âWhat are you talking about? Besides, thatâs the reason why the boss and Grave are our most beloved members!â
Grave laughed with a dismayed face. âWhatâs that?â
Anna went on to explain.
âDid you know? Most of the people who work here were picked up by the boss!â
âIs that so?â
âIndeed! I donât know what their pasts are, but everyone is on good terms!â
Is that even possible?
I was genuinely surprised and in disbelief.
I didnât think it was possible for people who didnât know anything of each otherâs backgrounds to live together. It didnât sound normal.
Anna said that Grave and Rigard were both nice people.
Perhaps⦠many of the people at that guild were friendly?
***T/N: Iâm loving all the casts so far.
