The room was dark, except for the faint glow of a small lamp. Arvika sat on the bed, knees drawn to her chest, her arms wrapped around herself as if trying to hold the broken pieces of her heart together. The weight of the morning's conversation with Kartik was suffocating her. His silence, his shattered gaze-it kept playing in her mind, over and over again.

She wanted to stop thinking about it, but she couldn't.

Just then, the door burst open.

Vaishali (excitedly): "Didi!"

Her voice was bright, full of life, as she rushed inside. The clatter of her suitcase hitting the floor echoed in the silence of the room.

Vaishali: "I'm finally back! You have no idea how much I missed . Uff, Didi, i am exhausted from there! You should've come! It was-"

She stopped mid-sentence.

Because Arvika hadn't moved.

Vaishali's smile faded as she finally noticed the stillness in the room. Her elder sister, who usually scolded her for talking too much, hadn't even looked up.

A strange heaviness settled in her chest.

She stepped closer.

Vaishali (softly): "Didi?"

Arvika blinked, as if just realizing someone was in the room. Slowly, she lifted her gaze. Her eyes were hollow, red-rimmed, as if she hadn't slept in days.

A cold shiver ran down Vaishali's spine.

Vaishali (worriedly): "Didi... what happened?"

Silence. Vaishali sat beside her, now desperate for an answer.

Vaishali: "Talk to me. What happened here ?!"

Arvika hesitated, her throat tightening. She looked at her younger sister, her innocent face still untouched by the weight of cruel realities. Then, with a broken voice, she began.

Arvika (whispering): "I'm getting engaged."

Vaishali's eyes widened.

Vaishali: "What?! When? How? With whom?"

Arvika lowered her gaze. Arvika: "Vardhan Roy."

Vaishali's face fell.

Vaishali (shocked): "Didi... Vardhan? The same Vardhan who..."

Arvika nodded weakly. Vaishali sat frozen for a moment, processing the news. Then she gripped Arvika's hands tighter.

Vaishali: "Didi, why? Are you... happy with this?"

Arvika let out a small, bitter laugh.

Arvika: "Happiness? I don't even know what that means anymore, Vaishali."

Vaishali felt her heart sink.

Arvika let out a shaky breath and whispered, "I told Kartik today about this "

Vaishali (breathless): "Oh, God then How did he react?"

Arvika laughed bitterly. Arvika let out a broken whisper.

Arvika: "He was heartbroken. He didn't say much, but his silence... it killed me, Vaishali. It felt like I had destroyed something... something pure."

Vaishali felt a lump in her throat as she saw her elder sister breaking down.

Vaishali: "Didi... do you love him?"

Arvika shut her eyes tightly, as if trying to block out the truth she was too afraid to face.

Arvika (hoarse voice): "It doesn't matter anymore."

Vaishali placed a hand on Arvika's cheek, making her look at her.

Vaishali: "It matters. Your happiness matters, Didi."

Arvika shook her head.

Arvika: "I can't think about that. I just... I just feel so guilty. I hurt him. And I... I can't stop thinking about him. I want to meet him again, Vaishali. I want to apologize."

Vaishali's eyes softened. She was nor feeling good seeing Arvika like this.

Vaishali (angrily): "Then Why did you do it, Didi? Why are you hurting yourself like this?"

Tears spilled down Arvika's cheeks.

Arvika (choking out): "Because I had no choice."

Vaishali's throat tightened. Arvika squeezed her eyes shut, as if trying to erase the truth.

Arvika (whispering): "Loving someone isn't enough, Vaishali. Sometimes, love is just-" she paused, taking a shaky breath, "-just a beautiful curse. I don't deserveto be love may be ... that'severy person i love always go "

Silence filled the room, thick and suffocating.

Vaishali wanted to say something, wanted to scream at her, wanted to fix this- but how?

What could she do when the person she loved the most was breaking right in front of her, and she was helpless?

She grabbed Arvika's hands, squeezing them tightly.

Vaishali (voice trembling): "I wish I could take away your pain, Didi. I wish I could make things right for you."

Arvika smiled, but it didn't reach her eyes.

Arvika: "Some things can't be fixed, Vaishu. Some wounds don't heal."

Vaishali pulled her into a tight hug, her own tears slipping down her face.

Vaishali: "Then let me be there for you. you're not alone."

Arvika broke down in her arms, sobbing silently.

Next morning Naksh swirls the whiskey in his glass, watching the tv under the light. His voice is casual, but Rudra knows better.

Naksh: "So, last night you were acting all obedient for your wife... and today, you're suddenly ignoring me?" He raises an eyebrow. "I thought you were my loyal man Rudra."

Rudra: Smirking "Even dogs get a life after marriage, ."

Naksh chuckles, but his eyes darken. He leans forward, placing his glass on the table.

Naksh: "Fine. Let's talk about something more interesting. Who was she?"

Rudra leans back, stretching his arms, pretending to think.

( guyss please rate the chapter by clicking on the star 🌟 i like to see comment and views but rating is low so please rate the chapter)

Rudra: Casually "Hmm... well, Kanpur is a big city. So many girls, so many stories... which one are you talking about?"

Naksh glares at him.

Naksh: "Don't play smart. You know exactly who I mean."

Rudra smirks but remains silent.

Naksh: Leaning closer "Why do I feel like you're hiding something?"

Rudra: Shrugging "Because I am."

Naksh clenches his jaw.

Naksh: Coldly "you know na i can kill you just don't irritate me "

Rudra: Chuckles "Neither do I, sir. But sometimes, answers aren't given. They're found." He picks up his coffee and takes a sip. "You'll remember when the time is right."

Naksh's grip on his glass tightens, his mind clouded with irritation.

Naksh: Muttering to himself "What the hell is that supposed to mean?"

Rudra flips through some files on the table. And then asked naksh

Rudra: Seriously "You remember when you first came to Kanpur? That college fest deal we handled?"

Naksh, who wasn't paying much attention, suddenly looks up.

Naksh: "College fest?"

Rudra nods, checking his notes.

Rudra: "Yeah, that one where I handled all the sponsorships. You refused at first, but then-"

Naksh's mind shifts, images flashing. The fest. The auto crash. A girl in white.

He frowns, his fingers tapping against the armrest.

Naksh: "What happened that day i can't remembered even about the fest ?"

Rudra glances at him but keeps his face unreadable.

Rudra: "I don't know... you tell me. You were there."

Naksh's jaw tightens. He hates his memory loss .

His mind rewinds to that moment-

A heated argument. A sharp, sarcastic voice. A pair of fierce eyes meeting his for the first time.

And then-.

Naksh mutters under his breath.

Naksh: "A...Arvi..."

Rudra smirks slightly but says nothing.

Naksh's breathing slows as realization creeps in.

Naksh: Whispering to himself "It was her who danced ?"

His grip on his glass tightens as something unexplainable stirs in his chest.

Rudra, watching him closely, finally speaks.

Rudra: Softly "Like I said, bro... sometimes, answers aren't given. They're found. Now just don'tguve pressure it'senoughfor now find answer slowly "

But deep down Naksh know what if it will be late upto when he will find out the full reason .

Other side it was the break The sky looms heavy with dark clouds, mirroring the turmoil inside Arvika. The scent of damp earth lingers in the air as the wind tousles her hair.

She tightens her grip around her bag, her feet hesitant but determined as she spots Kartik standing near his bike. He leans against it, arms crossed, eyes distant, as if he already knows she is there but refuses to acknowledge her.

Her heart aches seeing him like this.

This might be the last time she gets to talk to him.

And he doesn't even want to look at her.

Arvika: (softly) "Kartik..."

No response. She takes a step closer.

Arvika: (gently) "Can we talk?" Still nothing. His fingers tighten around the handle of his bike, jaw clenched.

Arvika: (swallowing) "I know you don't want to see me. But today... please talk to me ."

That gets his attention. His fingers twitch, but he still doesn't look at her.

Kartik: (coldly) "What do you want, Arvika?"

The way he says her name-like it doesn't mean anything anymore-makes her heart clench painfully.

She forces a smile.

Arvika: (whispers) "Just answer one question... after that, I won't bother you again."

Kartik scoffs, shaking his head.

Kartik: (mocking) "Oh, so now you need answers from me?"

Arvika flinches at his sarcasm but stays firm.

Arvika: "Don't you want to know who I am getting engaged to?" That shifts something in his expression.

For the first time, he looks at her properly. His dark eyes search hers-like he is bracing himself for something he doesn't want to hear.

Kartik: (serious) "Who is it?"

Arvika hesitates. Her hands tremble, but she has to tell him. She breathes in, forcing the words out.

Arvika: (barely audible) "Vardhan "

The world seems to stop. The street noises fade, the wind stills, and everything becomes eerily silent.

Kartik stares at her, his breath shallow, his face unreadable. Then, his fingers tighten into a fist.

Kartik: (softly, but deadly) "You're lying."

She shakes her head. His eyes darken, emotions swirling inside him-anger, pain, betrayal.

Kartik: (stepping closer) "Tell me this isn't forced. Tell me you didn't chose this man."

Arvika opens her mouth, but the words refuse to come out. She doesn't have to answer. Kartik sees the truth in her eyes.

A humorless chuckle escapes his lips, but it's filled with pain.

His shoulders tense. Then, after what feels like forever, he slowly turns back.

Aarvika held Kartik hands from behind for making him stop she what he was may be going to do .

Kartik: (voice shaking he removed her hands ) "Then say no, Arvika. Say no to your parents"

She remains frozen.

Kartik: (desperate) "Refuse the marriage! Don't do this. We'll run away. I don't care where-we'll figure it out. We both will marry now you love me "

Tears blur her vision.

Arvika: (whispers) "Kartik-"

Kartik: (cutting her off) "I'll talk to whoever I have to. I'll fight. Just... don't marry him."

Her breath catches. he means it. He would fight for her. But he doesn't know- Some battles can't be won. She lowers her gaze.

Arvika: (barely audible) "I can't .. you don't know what he is -" Before she could speak he said in between

Kartik flinches. Like her words physically hurt him. His Adam's apple bobs as he swallows thickly.

Then, his lips press into a thin line.

And suddenly- The pain disappears.

Replaced by something colder.

Kartik: (quietly) "Then I have nothing more to say. Pyaar sirf kehne se nhi hota ladhna bhi padhta hai or tum ? Tum ladh nhi sakti "

A humorless chuckle escapes his lips, but it's filled with pain.

Kartik: (whispers) "I should have known... people like us never win Mai haar gya aarvika ..."

His voice breaks at the end.

Arvika's eyes sting, her heart screaming "Kartik please -" she was stepping step closer .

Kartik ( moved back )" No don't aarvika please stay away now -Kyuki ab tum pass aayi tho mai door bhej nhi paunga or tum ruk nhi paogi - so please forget that any Kartik you know in your life forget everything!"

She was noding her head in deny she was badly sobbing now But she can't do anything. She has already lost.

Kartik lets out a shaky breath and takes a step back. He was seing this time aarvika cry but he said with wet eyes

Kartik: (quietly) "I will try to forget you have a new beginning Miss going to be Roy -Goodbye forever "

He turns away, walking off without looking back. This time, when he walks away- it was something he was going to do .

Arvika doesn't stop him. Because some goodbyes are inevitable.

_______..___________..___________..__________..__________..

The air in A.S corporation was thick with tension. Employees scurried away as Kartik Ahlawat stormed into the building, his rage radiating off him like wildfire. His breath was ragged, his fists clenched so tightly his nails dug into his palms.

He didn't knock. He didn't wait. He slammed open the door to Vardhan's office with a force that made the walls tremble.

Vardhan, sitting leisurely behind his desk, barely flinched. Instead, he smirked, leaning back in his chair as if Kartik's fury was nothing more than a mild inconvenience.

"Dekho tho kon aaya hai ," Vardhan drawled, adjusting his watch. ("See ! Who came today .")

Kartik didn't waste another second. With one swift move, he grabbed Vardhan by the collar and yanked him up from his chair. The smug expression on Vardhan's face didn't waver.

"You're forcing her into this marriage!" Kartik roared, his grip tightening. "Arvika is not yours, Vardhan! She never was, and she never will be!"

Vardhan chuckled-a low, mocking sound that made Kartik's blood boil. "Tu kyun itna tadap raha hai, Kartik?" he taunted, tilting his head. ("Why are you suffering so much, Kartik?") "Kahin tu bhi toh usse apna nahi samajh baitha?" ("Did you also start thinking of her as yours?")

That was it.

With a growl of pure fury, Kartik threw a punch-his knuckles colliding hard against Vardhan's jaw. The impact was brutal, sending Vardhan stumbling backward, knocking over a chair.

For a moment, there was silence-except for the heavy breathing of both men.

Vardhan wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, his smirk never faltering. Instead, he licked his lips, tasting the blood like it was a prize. His eyes darkened.

"Bohot gussa hai?" he asked, cracking his neck. ("Angry, are we?")

Before Kartik could react, Vardhan struck back-landing a sharp punch to Kartik's ribs. Kartik grunted, stumbling back, but he didn't let the pain stop him.

He launched himself at Vardhan, both men crashing against the desk, knocking files and glasses to the floor.

Another punch. Another hit. Another broken glass.

The room turned into a battlefield.

Kartik grabbed Vardhan by the collar again, slamming him against the bookshelf. "You will not ruin her life, you hear me?" he hissed. "If you have even a shred of decency, you will let her go!"

Vardhan laughed-a cold, sinister sound. "Decency?" He shoved Kartik off him and straightened his suit. " let me remind you-I always get what I want."

Kartik's eyes burned with pure hatred. "You think she's a trophy? A game you can win?"

Vardhan stepped closer, eyes glinting with amusement. "She's already mine." His smirk deepened. "And soon... she'll know it too."

Something inside Kartik snapped. With a furious roar, he grabbed Vardhan again and shoved him onto the desk, ready to throw another punch-

-when security barged in.

Two guards pulled Kartik back, holding his arms while he struggled against their grip. Vardhan dusted himself off and straightened his tie, looking completely unfazed.

"Throw him out." His voice was calm. Too calm.

Kartik glared at him, chest heaving. "This isn't over, Vardhan," he spat. "Mark my words-you will regret this you will not get aarvika ! I wish this happens."

Vardhan chuckled as the guards dragged Kartik toward the door.

"Arvika is already mine, Kartik," Vardhan called out, his voice laced with arrogance. "The sooner you accept it, the less it will hurt."

Kartik's fists clenched, his heart hammering in his chest. He was thrown out of the office, but as he stumbled to his feet, his resolve only grew stronger.

This wasn't over. It was just the beginning.
