"Hello?" Pt. 11,067 words~6 min read

As I wrote this, by the end I was like, 'Oh, these two have come so far since January 1st!' I personally love Danphie. Quite possibly my favourite of all my couples. (*whispers* maybe even more than Manah!)

"Oh, good you're up."

"Sophie, it's... four thirty three am."

"It is? Oh, I thought it was later. But, never mind, you're awake."

"Now I am, yes."

"I woke you?"

"No, I'm usually up at this ungodly hour."

"But you're an early bird."

"Not this early."

"Would you like me to phone you back later?"

"There's no point now. I'm already awake."

"Great. So, did you really get bitten by a jellyfish in Australia?"

"Yes."

"Did you also get a piece of coral stuck in your leg while learning to surf?"

"Yes."

"And did you scream like a girl when you saw a Huntsman spider?"

"Yes... no. No!"

"Ha, you so did!"

"Hey, you didn't see the size of the bloody thing! It was huge, the size of my hand, I swear."

"Baby."

"Um, wasn't it you that insisted I come and rescue you from a small common house spider? Are you really in a position to take the piss?"

"..."

"Thought not."

"Did you really work on a cattle ranch for three weeks?"

"In the middle of nowhere."

"And the banana farm?"

"For three months."

"Interesting. So, you weren't always a lawyer?"

"I did a gap year after my degree. When I came back, I worked at a law firm and soon after did the bar training. I was called to the bar and then I started working at the firm where I work now."

"I have another question for you."

"Ok. Ask away."

"How did you meet Elias?"

"How did he spin it?"

"He said that you met when you were at Eton and you both liked the same girl at some posh private school. You both dated the same girl but when you found out that the other was also dating her, you decided that you'd both finish with the girl. Then you became friends."

"Pretty accurate."

"Seriously? I thought he was kidding!"

"No, that happened. I mean, we were acquainted before that, but we weren't friends or anything. Seems funny now to think about it. If that girl- I forgot her name- hadn't played us both, I wouldn't have my best friend."

"Elias couldn't remember her name either."

"I think she was blonde."

"You have a thing for blondes."

"Look how well that turned out for me. Anyway, her name might have been... Eloise."

"French name."

"She definitely wasn't French, though."

"What's wrong with being French?"

"Rien."

"You're still picking up the French lingo, huh?"

"I haven't mastered it yet, so yes. I am still picking it up. Rien means 'nothing.' Right?"

"You're indeed right."

"Nailed it."

"So, there's nothing wrong with being French?"

"Nope. The coolest person I know is French."

"Oh, I'm flattered."

"Why would you be flattered? I was talking about Hugo."

"Hugo?"

"You're the coolest half-French person I know."

"Gee, thanks."

"It was a compliment."

"Was it?"

"Haha, you're adorable when you're sarcastic."

"Adorable? Well, that's a turn around. Back in January I was 'unbecoming' due to my sarcasm."

"You've grown on me since then."

"Wish I could say the same about you."

"Gee, thanks."

"You're welcome."

"Anything else you wanted to check with me? I'm sure Elias said a lot more about me than you're letting on."

"Oh, you know. There were other things. I'm meeting Evelyn today for lunch to verify some of those stories."

"Would you like to know what Evelyn's nickname is?"

"Not really, but I'm sure you're going to tell me anyway."

"Pinocchio.

"Why?"

"Because she likes to make up lies, especially about me."

"Lies? Or is it just the truth but you're too sacred to admit to that?"

"No, I'm pretty sure she makes most of it up."

"I'll be the judge of that."

"I'm sure you will be."

"What's that noise?"

"The shower."

"Oh... um, you're... getting in the shower?"

"I will be."

"You're not naked, are you?"

"Not entirely. I'm shirtless, but still wearing pj bottoms."

"Oh... right."

"You sound flustered."

"No, not flustered. At all. Honestly."

"What are you wearing?"

"Excuse me?"

"You know what I'm wearing, so what are you wearing?"

"Um... a pj shirt."

"For real?"

"I'm wearing underwear, too!"

"That's good to know, but I was... have you ever seen the movie The Holiday?"

"Does it have guns and cars in it?"

"No."

"Then, no, I haven't."

"Ok, well in the film there a character that's a screen writer and he talks about a meet cute."

"A what?"

"It's that point in a movie where the guy and the girl first meet in a way that's considered 'cute.' He gives an example of a meet cute- when a man and a woman go to the department store, both looking for sleepwear. The man only wants the bottoms and the woman only wants the top. See, they're perfect for each other."

"You're point being?"

"I'm a guy and I sleep in the pj bottoms and you're a woman that sleeps in the pj top."

"So, we're perfect for each other?"

"Absolutely."

"You know that was just a scene in a movie, right? It's not real life. If it was real life, they would have met on Tinder, or something."

"Well, aren't you romantic! Right, I'm getting in the shower. Are you staying on the line?"

"Ew, no. I'm going back to sleep."

"Bsck to sleep?"

"Yeah."

"Why the hell did you wake up in the first place?"

"Because I wanted to be the first person you spoke to today. Was I?"

"You were. And I totally take back that sarcastic comment about you being romantic."

"Why?"

"Just because."

"Alright, if you say so."

"I do say so."

"Enjoy you're shower."

"Haha, I will."

"Yeah... I'm going now."

"Ok."

"Ok."

"Bye?"

"Bye. Oh, remind Evelyn that the table is booked for one pm at Le Petit Cochon."

"Whoa, that's where you're going for lunch? That place is ultra exclusive."

"Luckily, I know the owner."

"An ex-boyfriend?"

"An uncle."

"Oh, my bad."

"Yeah, you're bad."

"I'm going to go and try to drown my embarrassment in the shower now."

"Uh huh. You do that. Later, Daniel."

"Enjoy you're day, Soph."

"You too, honey."

"Love you, bye."

"Love you, bye."
