The shirt he gave her swallowed her whole, but Layla felt safe and comfy.
âI guess you donât need shorts.â Lucas looked her up and down. âThose panties still wet?â
âIâm not wearing any.â
Lucas grinned, turning away from her as his cock twitched. Sheâd no idea how sexy she was or what she did to him. He was doing everything in his power to calm his urgesâthe urges he didnât dare tell her about.
âAre you hungry?â
âIâm starving,â she said, following him into the kitchen. âDo you cook?â
âIâve been known to cook a decent meal every now and then.â
Lucasâs phone rang, and he excused himself. Layla began to peruse the cabinets and fridge, taking note of the literal distillery he had just in his kitchen alone. She could hear him get frustrated as he was on the phone.
âWell, Iâm not fighting tonight, and you can tell Shawna that Iâll see her next weekend,â Lucas said as Layla strained her ears to listen. Who was Shawna and why did she care?
âYes, I have other things to do, Tim,â Lucas said. âGive me someone better than the Blimp and Iâll make it.â
A long pause, and she thought heâd hung up, but then he chuckled.
âYeah, sheâs probably mad,â Lucas said. âI donât give a fuck. Sheâs not my priority, and youâre not my fucking father!â
Layla was becoming unsettled. She could hear him slamming things around in his room now and wanted desperately to check on him.
She tiptoed down the hall and peeked into the room, watching as he tossed some stuff around: books, clothes, shoes.
He was off the phone and fiddling with the top drawer of his dresser, where he kept his whiskey.
When the drawer didnât pull out right away, he cursed it and yanked harder until it released and he tossed it across the room, barely missing Laylaâs tiny body.
âAhh!â she yelped, immediately cowering into a ball on the floor.
âLayla!â Lucas was on her in a flash. âDid that hit you?â
Shaking, she shook her head. âN-no, but whatâs wrong?â
Lucasâs niceness waned. He grabbed her up in his arms, pushing her up against the wall.
âJust because weâre fucking doesnât mean everything is your business,â he snarled, his nose touching hers.
Lucas hadnât even realized that heâd picked her up and was holding her against the wall with his arm strength, her feet dangling off the floor.
She wrangled for a moment and suddenly composed herself. âAre you done?â she asked him, jutting her chin out in defiance.
He tilted his head to the side, not taking his eyes off of hers. âAm I done?â
âWith your tantrum?â
âYou call this a tantrum?â
âWhat else is it?â Layla asked as calm as a cucumber. âYou wonât tell me whatâs wrong, so Iâll assume itâs just you not getting your way.â
He lowered her to the floor and rested his forehead against hers. âYouâre so hot in my shirtâ¦â
âYouâre avoiding the issue.â
Lucas pushed away from the wall, taking the dresser drawer back with him to repair.
âA friend of mine is upset that I didnât meet her, and my other friend is pissed that I wonât make him money tonight.â
Layla nodded. âWhy are you mad?â
Lucas fixed the drawer, tidying anything else heâd left unkempt. âI hate being treated like aâ¦â
âChild?â
Lucas balled his fists together, hating that she was right.
âWere you obligated to them this evening?â
âNo.â
âThen letâs go eat.â Layla waved him on as she left the room. âI make a mean steak and eggs!â
Lucas stared at where the little hippie had been standing and couldnât bring himself to move. She wasnât afraid of him, and just her voice eased his rage.
And that nice little ass he watched sashay its way back into his kitchen was an added bonus.
Lucas was smitten as he watched her cook, rambling on about something that had happened when she was in school.
He tried to pay attentionâfrying up the eggs and keeping an eye on her at the same time was dangerous, but he didnât care.
âSo, yeah, I was in the Girl Scouts for a while, but then when I was adopted, I wanted to focus on my new home,â Layla said, smiling up at him.
âMy familyâs down in Galveston.â
âGalvestonâ¦â Layla nodded, flipping the steak. âHow do you like your meat?â
Lucas chuckled.
âLucasâ¦â
âMedium rare.â He looked over at the skillet. âPerfect.â
Layla liked hers the same way, so she flipped them both over one last time and placed them on separate plates as Lucas scooped the eggs out.
Lucas didnât mind that she was eating her dinner in nothing but his oversized night shirt. It was turning him on so much that he could barely register the food they were eating.
âWhenâs the last time you saw them?â Layla asked, still trying to figure Lucas out.
âOh, I see them, but Iâd rather not,â Lucas said. âI have a cousin who has it all,â he said sarcastically. âHouse, wife, kidsâ¦â
âAre you close to your cousin?â
âLiam. He lives close to the family, of course.â Lucas swallowed hard. âI donât want to mooch off of them like he will, so out of the goodness of their fucking hearts, they gave me this place. Iâve gutted it twice.â
âI like it.â
Lucas smiled. She wasnât a liar, not in the way that makes people bad liars. Layla was genuine and sincere.
They talked a little while longer, and Layla yawned.
âIâve got some extra toothbrushes underneath the sink if you want to use one.â
âOh, yes! Thank you.â
He waited for her to reemerge from his room, but when his impatience grew, Lucas made his way down the hallânot expecting to see Layla sprawled out on the bed, fast asleep.
His large shirt had ridden up, and her nice, plump ass was exposed to his lusting eyes, her pink little pussy beckoning to him.
âCalm down, boy,â Lucas said to his erect cock. âWeâre just gonna have to sit this one out.â
He turned off the lights, got himself ready for bed, and crawled in next to her, gathering Layla into his arms as they spooned underneath the covers.
âWhat am I going to do about you?â he breathed into her ear, but she was in such a deep slumber that she barely stirred.
âGood night, Little Hippie.â

The next morning, Lucas found a pair of leggings and asked if she wanted to wear them out.
âIâll just wear my dress,â she told him, eyeing the leggings. âWeâll stop at Gretchenâs first and I can change. Whose leggings are these, Lucas? Certainly not yours.â
He felt himself surge with panic. They belonged to Shawna. He rarely brought women home, and it had been months since she left them there. Lucas wanted to kick himself in the ass for even suggesting them to her.
âThank you though.â
âMy shirt looks better on you,â he said as she got into her dress from the night before.
âWell, Iâll put it back on once I get into my own pants,â she told him. Layla watched him dress and wondered how the hell a man his size could even shop at regular stores.
âI have to get a lot custom fit,â he said, reading her mind.
âI see. Good thing because youâre a big guy.â
âBig in more ways than one, yeah?â He winked at her, sending her reeling with lust.
She needed to get out of his house and back to her normal routineâwhich would now still consist of Lucas Foster.
They first stopped at Gretchenâs, who already had her stuff waiting.
âI was actually called into work today, so I wanted to make sure you had everything!â She hugged her friend, eyeing Lucas as he stood quietly behind them. âAll is well?â
Layla nodded. âYes, and thanks for letting me crash here. Wish me luck at Paulâs.â
Lucas took note that she not only got into her own leggings, but threw his shirt back on. Damn, she was hot.
âCall me if you need me!â Gretchen waved as they headed to Paulâs.
Layla was happy that he wasnât there. Lucas loaded up the back of his truck with the boxes sheâd packed, enjoying every last minute of her getting the hell away from the pipsqueak.
âKnock, knock!â
A voice came at the door as Lucas placed another box in the bed of his truck. He looked at Layla, who appeared mortified at the woman standing before herâsome blonde who looked to be trouble.
âMoving out already?â
âWhy would I stay?â
âHe could have given you the world, Layla, but you choseââ
âI chose not to be abused by him anymore, and he cheated on me with you, Lauren. Why are you even here?â She looked past her to Laurenâs car parked a few spaces down from Lucasâs truck. âAre you moving in?â
âItâs not permanent. Weâre not an item, contrary to what Paul wants to believe. You just couldnât give him what I can, and now youâre hanging out with the certifiable psychopath ofââ
âNo.â Layla put her hand up. âYou donât get to talk about my friends like that. I donât know what type of trauma youâve gone through, but you will keep Lucasâs name out of your mouth.â
Lauren scoffed. âGrowing some balls there, are we? And donât patronize me with your pity. Iâm not dealing with trauma. My life is fabulousâcontrary to the poor, little country girl who canât even breed for her man.â
âThatâs enough, you bitch.â Lucas was standing behind Lauren now and he was monstrous, looming over her and snarling. âGet the fuck out of here before I show you how goddamned certifiable I really am.â
Lauren wasted no time. She scurried off, jumping into her car and driving away.
Layla had retreated back inside, placing her six monthsâ share of the rent in Paulâs desk and texting him a picture of it. He didnât reply.
âThanks,â she told Lucas as he helped her into the truck. âIâm sorry aboutâ¦â
âSheâs the asshole, Layla, not you.â
The next stop was Rosieâs, and she seemed fine with Layla being Lucasâs sponsor as long as there wasnât a conflict of interest. Both agreed to the terms, even though sleeping together was probably a ~huge~ conflict.
âI donât want anyone else,â Lucas told her as they drove away from Rosieâs home. âIn fact, Iâd fuck the shit out of you right now if youâd let me.â
âLucas, youâre insatiable,â Layla said, shaking her head. It wasnât like she hadnât been thinking about it all day though.
âIâll drop you off at your parentsâ,â he said, looking at the dark sky. âI have to work the club tonight, so donât get into any trouble.â
âMe?â Layla giggled. âNot sure you need to worry about me.â
All Lucas worried about these days was her though.
âThank you for helping me with the rent and getting my stuff,â she told him as he sat in his truck, ready to head out.
âYou owe me,â Lucas told her. âWhat do you think I want out of this?â
âYoga classes? Self-help guides? Tibetan singing bowls?â
The look on Lucasâs face was priceless.
âI donât do that shit.â
âItâs relaxing.â
âSo is fucking.â
âThen go fuck Shawna.â
The look on her face must have been priceless then. Lucas pursed his lips together.
âJealous?â
âOf course not.â Layla scrunched up her face. âWeâre not an item, Lucas.â
Lucas shrugged. âPeople can still be jealous.â
âGoodbye, Lucas,â she said, waving to him as she walked away. âNo trouble tonight.â
Lucas nodded, satisfied that his little hippie had a bit of a jealous sideâespecially when it came to him.
âGirlâs got my balls in a vice,â he mumbled, peeling out of the driveway. âThis canât be good.â
