His Secret Mermaid ✓3,285 words~17 min read

~ The Next Day ~

Today, the members of BTS had the day off. It had been a well deserved day off. They had been working their butts off the past few months. As much as they were overjoyed at the popularity that they were receiving, they were human after all and they needed a break once in a while.

The BTS members all slept in and slept in peacefully. Jungkook was sound asleep in his bed. His mind had been filled with what had happened yesterday. All through the night, his thoughts went to Y/N, the cute and clueless mermaid that he had met. He had swam with her, sung with her, and even kissed her in his dreams. He smiled in his sleep.

"Yo, Jungkook, you getting up any time soon?" A familiar voice asked waking him up from his sweet dreams. Jungkook groaned as he opened a single eye to see Namjoon peered down at him. He sighed as he pushed Namjoon's face away and placed his pillow over his face. "Come on man, it's 1:00 in the afternoon. I know you're tired from yesterday, but you've been sleeping all morning."

"So what? It's our day off. Let me sleep," Jungkook complained as he closed his eyes and tried to fall back to sleep. Namjoon sighed heavily as he gave up and left the room. Jungkook sighed in relief that his hyung was gone and focused on falling back to sleep, but he couldn't. He had been awoken and now he was wide awake. He sighed heavily as he sat up in his bed and yawned, stretching his arms out wide. It was true. He was beyond tired from yesterday. Everything ached. "It's 1:00 he said? What could I do at 1:00 in the afternoon?"

He sighed again as he stood up from bed and walked over to his window. His eyes met the shimmering sea in the bright afternoon sun. His thoughts were then brought to yesterday afternoon. That's right. He had met a real life mermaid. He had even felt her tail. He wondered if she would be there again today. His wonders were answered when he saw the outline of a girl with a fish tail swimming around in the water by the shore. His eyes lit up as he quickly got changed into his swim trunks and a shirt before rushing out of his room.

"Where are you off to Jk?" Seokjin asked curiously as he noticed the hurried maknae rush past him.

"Down to the beach for a bit," Jungkook said in response as he put on his shoes and his big floppy sunhat. He began spraying on sunscreen.

"Didn't we go to the beach yesterday?" Yoongi asked as he laid on the couch with a top hat over his face.

"Yeah, so what? Can't I go to the beach again?" Jungkook asked with a shrug.

"Sure, I'll come with you Jungkook," Jimin insisted as he went to go back to his room.

"No, I want to go alone," Jungkook voiced as he shook his head, "I won't be long. I promise. I'll be back before supper." Without waiting for a response from his hyungs, Jungkook walked out the door and down to the beach front. He walked along the shore, letting the crashing waves roll over his pale feet. He finally came to where he had seen Y/N. He could see the color of her bright tail as it moved along the ocean floor. From what he could see from above the water surface, she seemed to be collecting shells. He walked further into the water and sat down. He waited patiently for her to notice him. When she finally did, she resurfaced the water and looked at him in surprise.

"Oh, it's just you. What was your name again?" She asked curiously as she stared at him. He stared perplexed at her memory loss, but let out a small sigh.

"It's Jungkook," he introduced himself once again.

"Oh, right. You're that pervy hermit crab from yesterday," she mentioned as she got closer to him. He inhaled deeply and exhaled deeply. He was irritated at the fact that after he told her several times that he wasn't hermit crab, that she still didn't manage to process that in her brain, but he kept his composure.

"I'm not a hermit crab. I'm human," he corrected as he tried to keep himself from snapping at her.

"Human, hermit crab, what's the difference?" She asked with a shrug as she rolled her eyes and sat beside him.

"Well, a human is a species that has arms and legs and hands and feet. You have arms and hands, but since you're a mermaid you're half fish, so you have a tail instead of legs and feet," he explained to you shortly. She gave a small nod in response.

"Hm... well, alright if you say so," she responded with a shrug as she gave a cute smile at him. His eyes slightly widen at her cute smile before he looked away slightly flustered. "Anyways, it was nice seeing you again. I'm going to go now."

"Wait? What? Don't go yet!" He exclaimed as he scooched closer to her and grabbed her hand unknowingly. He held it in his gently. "Can't you stay a little longer?" He gave a soft smile at her, his eyes filled with hope. She stared at him weirdly for a second before clearing her throat.

"You're a very weird hermit crab Jeon Jungkook of the Naked Species...," she commented feeling a little shy after he grabbed her hand. Reluctantly, she held his hand back awkwardly. "But alright, I suppose I can stay a little bit longer."

"Thank you," he thanked her with a childish grin. They sat there on the sandy beach in silence for a moment before he glanced at her with a questioning look. "So, is it cool living in the ocean?" He was a curious. He had so many questions to ask her. Hopefully, he had enough time to ask her all of them.

"Yeah~, it's super cool~! So many fishies and other things! You land hermit crabs should come look for yourselves~!" She piped up happily as she talked about the sea. She smiled at him as her eyes traveled down to his swim trunks. She examined them carefully. "Huh, I missed part of your shell~!" Thinking that his swim trunks were part of his so-called shell, she began to pull on them.

"H-Hey!" He exclaimed in shock as he jumped back a little ways from her, "D-Don't pull on my pants! I need those!" His cheeks held a slight blush worried that if she continued pulling then they would rip and then he would have a long story to tell his hyungs when he came home naked.

"Pants?" She asked intrigued as she got closer and stared into his face, "What's pants? Tell me what they are Jeon Jungkook of the Naked Species~." She smiled cutely at him earning a small sigh from him.

"Alright, well, this thing you think is a shell are called pants. They cover my legs and other areas for protection and to be fashionable. I'd get into trouble if I didn't wear them outside my home," he explained curtly as he removed her hands from his pants and held onto one of her hands awkwardly.

"Oh, ok," she replied with a nod as she stared at him, "Jeon Jungkook of the Naked Species, you don't look like any hermit crab I've ever seen. Are you sure you're a hermit crab?" She stared into his eyes in curiosity for a moment before before smiling cutely.

"I will say this again, even though I will probably say it only 100 more times, but I am not a hermit crab," he remarked as he reached up and pinched her nose gently, "I am from the human species."

"Lol, okie~, if you say so~," she responded with a giggle as she splashed her tail around in the water. Jungkook sighed in relief at that and smiled as he watched her splash her tail, seeing all the different shades of purple has the light came from different angles.

"So, what exactly do you eat down there?" He asked curiously, "Fish? Seaweed? Or something else?"

"No, I don't eat the fish! Fish are friends, not food~," she hummed with a smile.

"Haha, nice Nemo reference," he said with a stifle of a laugh. She cocked her eyebrow in confusion.

"Nemo reference?" She asked confused as she tilted her head slightly.

"You know, the movie Nemo?" He asked with a shrug. She shook her head in confusion. "Sigh... nevermind..." He gave out an awkward laugh as he grew silent. She seemed to know so little about the world. He wondered what else she wasn't aware of.

"Yeah, anyways, since I'm the only mermaid in the ocean I get lonely sometimes, so I make friends with the fishes. They're all super nice~," she went on with a small smile. He wondered if she spoke fish. Perhaps she did since she was half fish.

"Whoa~ okay!" He proclaimed with a nod of understanding, "Aren't you afraid of some fish though? Like squids, angler fish and even sharks?!" She thought for a moment before shaking her head.

"Well, there was a time when I almost got eaten by a shark, but I've come to terms with them and now we just stay away from each other," she explained with a shrug and a cute smile. Jungkook's eyes widened at the fact that Y/N had almost been eaten by a shark and managed to get away and unscathed. He had watched horror movies involving sharks and found himself shivering at the thought of those kinds of movies coming true in real life.

"O-Oh, wow, um..., but... don't you ever wish you could live on land?" He asked slightly worried, trying to not show his sudden fear of coming across a hungry shark.

"I guess, but the sea is my home. I don't think I'd want to be anywhere else," she voiced with a small smile as she looked out into the distance of the sea.

"Hm, I guess I'd say the same," he answered with an awkward smile as he thought of a different subject, "So, um... do you even go visit any ship wrecks?"

"Of course, I've explored about more than 1000~," she mentioned with a nod, "In fact, I just recently explored a ship wreck."

"Wow~!" He exclaimed in excitement as his eyes lit up and curiosity bubbled within him, "What are they like? Do you see cool skeletons? Gold? Artifacts?" She smiled slightly, content that she was able to share her ship wreck experiences with someone else besides her fish friends.

"It's mostly just cool artifacts and doodads~," she said with a nod, "Like this one~." She dug through her shell bag and pulled out a gold coin.

"Whoa~! Is that gold?!" He asked as his eyes went wide shock and amazement.

"Yep, I believe so," she replied with an uncertain nod as she placed it in his hand and smiled softly, "You can have it if you want to. I have plenty more at home."

"Really?! Wow~ thank you!" He thanked her with a huge bunny smile plastered across his face. He examined the gold coin intensely before bringing it up to his lips and biting into it. She raised an eyebrow at this.

"Um... I don't think you're supposed to eat it...," she observed with a confused expression. He looked at her before smiling awkwardly. He placed the gold coin in his pocket.

"Uh... right, yeah, sorry," he apologized awkwardly as he tried to think of something to say to make the awkwardness go away, "So... have you ever saved someone off a ship?"

"Not that I can remember," she responded with a shrug.

"So, you've never saved a prince before?" He asked in a joking tone. She could tell that he was joking, but she didn't understand the joke. She looked at him weirdly and confused. "It's another movie reference, but nevermind." He looked away awkwardly again as if not knowing what to say to make this less awkward.

"Oh ok. Well, anyways, I should get going," she voiced as she let go of his hand finally. She hadn't realized how long she was holding his hand for. It made her feel all tingly inside. "It was nice seeing you again." She smiled softly before slowly making her way back into the sea.

"Wait!" He protested as he reached out and grabbed her hand gently. She turned back around in surprise and looked down at his hand. "Can I see you again? Like tomorrow? Please!" His tone was pleading and his eyes were hopeful. She stared into them curiously.

"Maybe~," she replied with a small wink and a cute smile as she squeezed his hand before letting go of it. She swam a little ways away from him before looking back over her shoulder. "Bye Jungkook~." She gave a small wave to him.

"Hehe, bye Y/N! See you soon!" He called back as he waved to her with a big, goofy grin on his face as he watched her dive down into the water and out of sight. Once she had gone, he sighed a bit in disappointment that she couldn't stay longer. Plus, he had wanted to touch her tail again, but he was still glad that he got to see her again. Somehow talking to her for an hour, seemed to brighten up his day and he no longer felt tired.

He wondered what he should do for the rest of the day. He wasn't quite ready to go back to the dorms yet. He had thought that he would have at least spent until 3:00 with her, but it was only 2:15. It was still too early to head back.

His thoughts were brought back to her. She had given him a gold coin. He took it out of his pocket and looked at it. He wondered if he should spend it or keep it as a souvenir. He was curious to how much it costed. Since it was gold, even if he did spend it he would probably still have plenty of money in return. He went back and forth on the subject, but soon came to a decision and decided that he would just keep it as a souvenir. He needed a safe place to keep it.

He found himself heading towards the nearest store. He looked around. His eyes spotted a small container. The coin would fit perfectly, plus he would be able to keep the coin safe. He took his wallet out and paid for it. He placed the coin inside then placed it in his pocket.

What else could he buy? He looked around. He tried to think of something that perhaps she might like. His eyes darted over to the bathing suit shop. He then remembered that she had been topless. His face flushed a bright pink at the thought. He quickly tried to remove any dirty thoughts out of his head, but if he knew that if he was going to see her tomorrow then it would help if she had something on top. He had tried to avoid looking down just so that she wouldn't call him a pervert, but he knew that at some point he would make the mistake of looking down again.

Reluctantly, he walked into the bathing suit shop and looked around at all the bikini tops. He felt awkward looking at them since he was a guy.

"Can I help you with something sir?" The shop clerk asked curiously as she walked over to Jungkook. He looked up at her in surprise at first. When she saw him, her eyes went wide. "Oh my god... you're Jeon Jungkook of BTS!!"

"Y-Yeah, um... could you please not tell that you saw me here? I'll give you front row tickets to the next BTS concert," he offered nervously. She nodded in agreement as he handed her a front row ticket. "Um... do you happen to have any in purple?" That was the first color that popped into his head. He remembered how your tail was a bright purple color and simply figured that it was your favourite color. The shop clerk thought for a moment before nodding.

"Yes, right over here," she insisted as she guided him over to a section of bikini tops. His eyes went wide at all the styles and shapes. "So, is this for a special girl?" His eyes went wide at her suggestion.

"No! Um..., it's for... my mom," he responded awkwardly as he lied profusely. The shop clerk seemed to believe him as she nodded in understanding.

"Ah~, well just tell me if you need help with anything," she voiced as she walked over to the cash register. He sighed in relief as he looked through the different tops until finally he spotted one that looked perfect. His thoughts were completely filled with dirty images, but in this case he kind of needed to imagine Y/N so that he could figure out what to get her. Once he picked, he went over to the cash register and quickly paid. He said goodbye to the shop clerk and headed out of the shop. He had spent more money today than he had thought and wanted to, but he knew that he would feel more comfortable the next time he saw her if she were wearing the new top that he bought for her.

His feet carried him back to the dorm. He tried his best to hide what he had bought by hiding the top in his towel and throwing away the bag before he had entered the dorms.

"Jungkookie, you're back!" Taehyung voiced with excitement as he approached Jungkook. Jungkook smiled at his hyungs softly.

"Hey, yeah, I'm back," he responded with a nod, "I told you that I wasn't going to be gone for that long. I just wanted to walk along the beach today and maybe tomorrow too."

"Tomorrow?! Jungkook, you know we have a concert right?" Namjoon asked in worry as he raised his eyebrow at the maknae.

"Yeah, I know. I'll just go to the beach after the concert," Jungkook claimed with a shrug as he started walking towards his room.

"Jungkook, why do you suddenly want to go to the beach again?" Seokjin asked curiously and suspiciously as he poured himself some water.

"Um... I don't know. I just do," Jungkook replied with a shrug as he tried to hide any suspicion, but it didn't work so well because now his hyungs were suspicious as to why their maknae suddenly had an interest in going to the beach three times in a row. Jungkook sighed in relief when he reached his room. He entered his room and closed his door before hiding away the bikini top that he bought for Y/N. He flopped on his bed and pulled out the small box that he bought. He opened up the lid and smiled when he saw the gold coin in it. He still had so many questions to ask her. He didn't get to ask her all of them because he always seemed to end in awkwardness, but he hoped to ask more questions and hopefully spend more time with her tomorrow after the concert.
