Chapter 12: A Story Of The Hyungs

"Haha Y/N stop!" Jungkook shouted as he laughed. He ran around in the water, trying to escape the splashes of Y/N, who was flicking water at him with her tail. Y/N giggled at watching him trying to get out of reach from her splashes, but she was a mermaid so she caught up to him easily. She continue to flick water at him with her tail. "Y/N! Come on~! I'm completely drenched! Haha!"

"Hehe, I win~," Y/N hummed with a victorious grin on her face as she stopped flicking water at him and lied back on her back, gazing up at the sky. Jungkook wiped away the water from his face before floating on his back beside her, gazing up at the sky as well. He let out a peaceful sigh and shut his eyes, letting himself enjoy this moment.

He had come to the beach in the morning, right after breakfast. Namjoon and Yoongi decided to come along, which he found convenient since Yoongi took a nap and Namjoon read, so he was able to slip away without either of them noticing, but he did still keep an eye out in case if they were looking for him.

He had told Y/N that since she beat him in the splash war yesterday that he would beat her this time, but she beat him once again. When she told him that she was 'the splash queen', she wasn't kidding. Still, he put up a good fight, but he was at a disadvantage since she had a tail, so she could move through water more easily and catch up to him. But despite losing, he still felt content to just be out here with her and have fun.

"Ah..., I wish the hyungs could be here to enjoy this," he voiced unknowingly as he breathed in a sigh. Y/N glanced at him out of the corner of her eyes and a somewhat gloomy expression clouded over her eyes. She felt guilty that Jungkook had to keep her existence a secret from his hyungs, but the less people knew about her existence would make it safe for both of them to meet like this.

"You haven't told them, right?" She asked worriedly and curiously. She sighed in relief when he shook his head. "I've never thanked you for that."

"What do you mean?" He asked in confusion as he glanced at her with a raised eyebrow.

"You could have told them any time that you wanted. You could have told them the first day we met, but you didn't, so... thank you," she thanked him with a gentle smile as she reached over and poked his cheek gently, earning a warm smile from him.

"I promised you, didn't I? I don't break promises," he stated with a confident look as he reached over and booped her nose with his finger, making her giggle. They floated in silence for a moment, getting lost in their own thoughts.

Even though he had told her that he wouldn't ask anymore questions regarding her, he still couldn't help but still be curious as to what was so bad that he would be in danger by knowing it. Though, despite his curiosity, he wasn't going to know what it was because Y/N had made it clear that she wasn't going to spill the beans about herself or her past.

He breathed in the salty air and moved his arms around a little, just feeling the touch of the sea water on his skin, making it all tingly. His hand brushed up against Y/N's hand as he moved them around. When his hand touched hers, he glanced at her in surprise and his eyes met her startled ones. They stared at each other for a moment before smiling shyly then pulling their hands away.

"Jungkook...," she murmured softly as she lifted her head to look at him. He lifted his head when she said his name and he looked at her with a questioning look.

"Hm?" He hummed in a questioning way.

"About your hyungs... can you tell me about them?" She asked with a look of wonder. Jungkook was surprised by this question, but he soon smiled and nodded vigorously.

"Hm... who should I start with?" He asked himself as he thought for a moment before shrugging, "I guess I'll start from the youngest to the oldest, so V hyung. Kim Taehyung, who I call V hyung is the next youngest member after me. He's a lot like me. We're both really weird, but like sometimes he's even weirder than I am. Rapmon hyung sometimes calls him 4D and Jimin hyung calls him an alien, hehe."

"What does he look like?" Y/N asked curiously as she listened to Jungkook.

"Appearance wise, he's really handsome. It's almost like he's computer animated. Oh! He also has a square smile. It's like the shape of a square," Jungkook shortly explained as he thought trying to put into words his hyung's appearance. Y/N nodded as she tried to picture Taehyung's appearance in her mind, but Jungkook hadn't given much of a description about his hyung, so it was rather difficult to picture him.

"Hm, hard to picture him, but anyways, tell me about your other friends," Y/N insisted with a shrug.

"Well, then there's my hyung Jimin. He's considered a mochi by the fans because when he gains weight his cheeks get chubby and squishy... kind of like yours," Jungkook claimed as he reached over and poked at Y/N's cheek.

"Hey! Hands off Naked!" Y/N exclaimed with a playful glare as she swatted his hand away, earning a small pout from him when she called him 'Naked' again. She sent him a teasing grin at that.

"He's a really amazing dancer too and singer. He's also the shortest of the group. We always tease him about his height and his reactions are so funny," Jungkook continued to explain with a brief chuckle in remembrance of his hyung's reactions whenever he and his other hyungs tease him about his height, "I also really like talking to him. He listens to me a lot when I have doubts and worries and about other stuff. I mean, I tease him a lot, but he's really caring."

"He sounds like you consider him your brother," Y/N pointed out with a knowing look. Jungkook nodded in agreement to that.

"I do. I consider all of them my brothers. I mean, that's why I call them hyungs. We might not be sibings by blood, but I've been with them for so many years. I've really bonded with them more than I have with anybody else," he stated with a small smile. Y/N nodded in understanding.

"So who's the next oldest?" She asked in wonder.

"The next after Jimin hyung is Namjoon hyung. I love Namjoon hyung a lot. I would say that I'm his ultimate fanboy. He's the main reason that I joined the agency and BTS. When I first saw him, I thought he was so cool. He's also the leader of our group and he's fluent in English. He's a rapper along with the other members of the rap line. I sometimes call him Rapmon hyung too because his stage name is RM, which used to stand for Rap Monster, but he doesn't go by that anymore, but I still like to call him that sometimes," Jungkook rambled on and on about his hyung before glancing over at Y/N who watched him with what appeared to be a look of longing.

"He seems like someone really important to you," she voiced in a soft tone. Jungkook nodded in agreement to her statement. "Who's left to talk about?"

"There's Hobi hyung. His real name is Hoseok, but his stage name is Jhope. I like to call him Hobi hyung though. He's like the sun pretty much because he's always really cheerful and bright. Plus, he's always smiling. He's apart of the rap line too," he mentioned as he smiled slightly. Y/N gave a quick nod in response.

"And the last two?" She asked as she watched a pair of seagulls fly across the sky.

"Next is Suga hyung. His real name isn't Suga though, it's Yoongi and he also has another name that he goes by, which is Agust D. Agust D is like his alternate ego in a way. He swears a lot when he sings, but he's an amazing rapper. He's the last member of the rap line," Jungkook continued in as much detail as he could, "And finally, there's Jin hyung, who is the oldest of the group. He was I think the first one I met."

"What a lucky guy," Y/N murmured with a small sigh as she stared up at the clouds. Jungkook stole a glance at her and looked at her with a confused look.

"What do you mean?" He asked curiously. He didn't get an answer at first, but as he was about to continue she had begun to respond.

"I mean, that he's lucky because he was the first person to ever to meet you," she stated with a small pout, making Jungkook let out a small chuckle of amusement.

"Haha, he wasn't the very first person to meet me. My parents are the first to have met me. Jin hyung is the just the very one out of the band who met me first," he explained more precisely. Y/N nodded at that. Jungkook stifled a laugh when he noticed her begin to relax after that. It almost seemed as if she had been jealous and for some reason it made him happy. "Anyways, Jin hyung is really funny and he has this laugh that sounds like someone's washing windows. If you heard it, you would laugh because it's hilarious. He always cracks dad jokes too. Sometimes they're kind of lame, but other times they're funny."

"Hm... they all sound wonderful. You're lucky to have such amazing friends," she commented with an envious look on her face.

"I know. I'm really lucky, but I'm sure you have some really amazing friends too," Jungkook proclaimed with a knowing smile. Y/N glanced at him for a moment. She could sense that he was itching for her to tell him if there were more mermaids out in the world, but she wasn't ready to talk about it with him yet, so she simply let out a sad sigh and looked away from him.

"Not everyone can have such amazing friends like you do," she whispered, her voice soft, but solemn. Her gaze was directed at the distance of the ocean. Jungkook stared at her with a confused and concerned expression. It was silent and seeming to notice his stare, Y/N cleared her throat. She turned to look at him with a gentle smile. "Tell me more?"

Jungkook nodded with a cute smile as he began to reminisce about his hyungs and their adventures. He talked about their debut days and their first impressions of each other. He laughed when he talked about their funny moments during their BTS Run Episodes and teared up when he talked about their hardships, but most of all, he smiled warmly when he talked about ARMY, his fans.

He had been so focused on talking and Y/N had simply listened the whole time without interrupting that he didn't even notice that she had fallen asleep next to him. It wasn't until he glanced over at her that he noticed her eyes were closed and her chest slowly rising up and down.

Seeing her sleeping face made him smile. She looked so peaceful and beautiful. Her hair was gently moving around her from the motion of the waves and her shimmering tail was glistening in the sunlight that was shining above them. It was hard not to admire her, especially since she was so calm.

"Y/N... are you ever going to tell me your secrets?" He asked in a hushed tone as he came closer to her and peered into her face. Not even fully realizing it, his hand reached out to her face. A strand of hair covered part of her face, so he used a few fingers to pull the strand of hair away from her face.

"Jungkook...," she spoke in her sleep in a gentle tone as she smiled gently. Jungkook's eyes widened when he heard her say his name and he quickly went to pull his hand back, but her hand had covered his own, keeping it in place on her cheek. Within seconds, her eyes fluttered opened and they met his panicked ones. She smiled softly at him and her eyes twinkled. They stared in each other's eyes for a brief moment before Y/N blinked and shook her head vigorously. "Sorry.."

"It's ok," Jungkook responded softly as he pulled his hand away while Y/N sat up and looked away.

"As for my secrets... I have many, but I can't share all of them with you," she voiced as she looked back at him with a serious look, but her voice apologetic. Jungkook nodded in understanding. "However, there is one that I can share with you." His ears perked up at this and he looked at her curiously. She smiled at him in response. "It may help with that movie you're making."

"It's a video Y/N," Jungkook replied sarcastically as he clicked his tongue. Y/N rolled her eyes at that before raising her eyebrow. "Sorry... what is it?"

"Grab your underwater camera," she instructed with a gleam in her eyes. Jungkook nodded as he grabbed his underwater camera before coming back over to her. "Now, close your eyes." This time, he was the one to raise an eyebrow at her. She sent him a wink making him shrug before closing his eyes. Nothing happened for a moment, but to his surprise, he soon felt a soft, warm pair of lips on his own. He stayed there, frozen in place at the sudden action for a few moments before he slowly began to relax. He felt himself melting into the kiss and not even realizing that he was kissing her back. But the moment he started kissing her back, she pulled away slightly panicked. "Hey! What are you doing?! I thought you promised that you wouldn't have those feelings for me!"

"Wha-?! Why are you yelling at me? You're the one that kissed me!" Jungkook exclaimed back in confusion as he touched his lips with his finger tips.

"I only kissed you because it would allow you to breathe underwater!" Y/N mentioned back loudly as she glanced to the side slightly embarrassed. Jungkook's eyes widened at this information earning a small sigh from Y/N. "One of my secrets is that when a human is kissed by a mermaid it will allow them to be able to breathe underwater for 24 hours. I kissed you, so that you would be able to breathe underwater since I'm going to show you the world below the surface."

"Does that mean I won't need my underwater gear?" He asked unsure. She nodded in response to that. "So, all I need is my underwater camera?" She nodded again. He nodded back with an excited, but also nervous smile.

"Don't be nervous. I promise you that it works and I'll be right beside you, so if it doesn't happen to work then I'll be able to bring you back up to the surface," she answered with a reassuring smile as she extended her hand out to him. He stared at her hand for a moment before taking a deep breath and placing his hand in hers. She gripped his hand gently, but firmly before diving under the water. This took him by surprise, but not too long he found himself staring at a scenery that he saw in all of those pictures and video clips that she had taken with his camera. This time though he was seeing the scenery up close.

He was able to see everything clearly too. His eyes weren't stinging from the water and when he went to take a breath he found himself being able to breathe in the water and exhale it back out with no trouble. He let out a muffled chuckle of amazement. It seemed that Y/N's kiss only granted him the abilities to see and breathe in the water, but not talk in the water. That was alright for him. He didn't need to talk.

He glanced at Y/N who still held his hand firmly in hers and was swimming next to him, but slightly more ahead as she pulled him along. She glanced behind her at him and smiled sweetly. He smiled back at her as he raised his underwater camera to his face. He focused on his surroundings and at anything that he saw that fascinated him or looked cool and took a picture or took a video.

He had begun to take a video of a large crab that was crawling along the bottom of the ocean. He hadn't even noticed that Y/N wasn't beside him anymore and when he noticed he panicked, but soon sighed in relief when he saw her a few ways away. He smiled in amusement watching her swim around and play with the dolphins who chased her and swam beside her.

Y/N noticed him watching and gestured to the dolphins to follow her and swam towards him with a mischievous grin. Soon, all the dolphins were surrounding Jungkook and swimming around him, casually brushing up against him. He took pictures and videos and being careful that Y/N wasn't in any of them.

When he had taken enough pictures and videos, he gestured to Y/N to take him back up to the surface. She nodded as she took his hand and swam back up to the surface, pulling him along. Once they reached the surface, it felt strange to him to be breathing air instead of water.

"That was amazing Y/N! Just seeing it all up close was... ugh, I wish the hyungs could have seen it!" He declared loudly with a pleasant smile across his face. Y/N smiled at that, but as she was about to respond two voices beat her to it.

"Jungkook! Are you over here?!" A familiar voice asked curiously and worriedly. Jungkook and Y/N's eyes widened in alarm as they hid themselves as best they could behind the huge rock. He peeked his head out and bit his lip nervously when he saw that it was Yoongi and Namjoon standing there next to his stuff.

"Damn it...," he whispered as he looked at Y/N with worry, "I have to go now Y/N, but thank you so much for allowing me the chance to get some up close footage. I really appreciate it."

"No problem. We can do it again next time if you want to," she replied with a small smile. He nodded in agreement to that as he glanced back at his two hyungs who were looking around frantically for him.

"Ok, I should go now. Stay behind here," he murmured as he held both of her hands in his. She nodded back in understanding as she went to pull her hands away, but he held onto her hands, earning a confused look from her. He only stared at her with a look of awe before he brought her hands up closer to his face and placed a soft kiss on her hands. Her eyes widened at that and she pulled them away quickly.

"Hey..! What did I make you promise..?!" She asked in a hushed tone, but with a flustered look.

"Heh, it's just a kiss. It doesn't mean that I have feelings for you," he claimed with an amused chuckle as he reached up and patted her head gently. She sent him a flustered glare before splashing water at him. He chuckled in response. "See you next time Y/N."

After she nodded, he smiled at her one more time before slowly making his way towards the shore. Since he could still breathe underwater, he swam under the water until he got closer to the shore and once he was close enough to the shore, he popped his head back out.

"Jungkook! There you are! We've been looking all over for you!" Yoongi shouted in annoyance as he crossed his arms over his chest, "We even called the others to see if you had gone back to the dorms. We were getting so worried that we were close to calling the police to have a search out for you!"

"Sorry hyung. I lost track of time. I was taking some pictures and videos under the water," Jungkook explained shortly.

"Without goggles or a snorkel?" Namjoon asked with a suspicious look as he raised his eyebrow.

"The snorkel didn't fit and I forgot to bring goggles," Jungkook lied with a shrug, trying to play it off cool. His hyungs glanced at each other not really believing him, but decided not to pressure him into telling them the truth. "Anyways, I got some really good footage. I'll show you guys when we get back."

"Alright, but if you're going to head off then next time tell us that way we at least know where you are," Namjoon insisted with a warning look. The younger one nodded in understanding as he got out of the water and placed his camera into his bag before walking with his two hyungs down the beach and back to the dorm.
