"It's not true" I looked at her who had nothing but no trust in her eyes for me.
"They are just lies. It's not what it looks like" I kept looking at the screen unbelievably. I could see the background. It was familiar to me. I read her chat.
And finally realized what had happened with me.
"Stop lyinggg!!" She said furiously.
"Mehr! Look-" I was about to speak when she cut me off.
"You look Ehan! There is the door. You can leave" She pointed at the door sternly.
"I won't leave without defending myself" I raised my voice.
"I didn't cheat on you Mehr!. I could never do that. These photos are forged. It's not what happened. She took advantage of my situation only. I have never slept with her.
Believe me Mehr! You know me. I could never do such filth. I have never touched another woman in my life. I swear it's not true. I didn't touch her. Please believe me.
Main ny khabi tumari imanat main khayant nahi ki" I said to her helplessly at the end. My voice was coarse with emotions building up inside me.
(I have never given your rights to anyone else)
"Safai dene ka waqat guzar chuka hy Ehan!" Her lips pressed together firmly, she was controlling herself to not cry
(There is no time of justification now)
"You love me. You should trust me at least" My heart ached at her words. She wasn't believing me.
"Yes. I loved you once, but not anymore" She stated, looking into my eyes.
I looked into her eyes silently.
She loved me more than anything. How could she unlove me in a few days. I know how much I mattered to her then why wasn't she trusting me.
"Mohabat khabi nahi marti Mehr!" I tried to tell her.
(Love can't die Mehr!)
"Bilkul jese apki Rahma ke lie Mohabat khabi nahi mari" She smiled painfully.
(You are right. It can't die just like your love for Rahma)
"Wo mohabat nahi thi. Ek galti thi sirf" I voiced my inner thoughts for the first time in front of her.
(It wasn't love. It was just a mistake of mine)
"Aur mohabat kiya hy apke lie?" She kept staring at me.
(Then what is love for you?)
"Tum" I mumbled.
(You)
She started laughing but her voice wasn't normal. Her laugh wasn't like usual. It wasn't sweet rather it was hollow.
"You don't even know the meaning of love. You just know how to exploit people. You have exploited me for two long years without any shame.
You were asking me what you did to me. You killed my soul Ehan! You killed my hope of a happy future.
What have you given me in two years. Just silence and pain, nothing else. You just used me as your maid. Who looked after your house. Who cleaned and cook for you. Whom you used for your pleasure in the nights but have you ever thought what you gave me in return?" She took her heart out.
"It's not like that" I mumbled, understanding the depth of her words. I never had an idea what was she thinking about our relationship.
"It is like that. It was always like that. And now you-slept with another woman. Wasn't I not enough for your needs?" She started crying at the end.
"No. No. Mehr! Trust me it's not like that. I didn't sleep with her. Please trust me. You are everything to me!" I tried to cup her face in my hands.
I wanted to cry. She wasn't believing me. She had so much against me in her heart. I realized that one feeling in me that always made me aware that something was wrong in our relationship wasn't wrong itself. If only I had realized it before.
"I know what I am to you Ehan! I clearly know about it. I don't need to hear it from you. Just leave my place. I don't want to see you again" She pushed me away.
She didn't let me touch her.
"Please Mehrbano! We-we will go through this and trust me everything will be alright. Just come back to me" I stumbled at my place.
"There is no we left between us" She opened the door.
"Rahma is just trying to rift us apart. It's her planing to snatch me away from you" I stated anxiously.
"I am willingly giving you to her" She shut me up with her words.
"No, you can't. You love me. You can't disown me like that" I asked monotonously.
"Leave" She emphasized.
"I won't leave you alone here" I told her.
"I have lived my whole life like that and don't forget I was also alone at your home. So don't show me this fake care. I don't want it. At least not now!" Her words were full of pain.
"Mehr! Please!" I muttered.
And she just looked away.
"Trust me! I didn't cheat on you" I defended myself again.
"I don't care anymore" She was distant to me, so distant that I couldn't see her properly.
The wetness in my eyes blurred her.

"Apki tareef?" The man standing at the door asked me.
(Who are you?)
"Tumhari behen bayan kare gi" I snapped at him.
(Your sister will tell you)
I pushed him away and barged into the house like a mad man. He came after shouting at me but I didn't stop. I walked into the house where I found that witch. She was shocked to see me at her house.
"Ehan" She muttered in shock.
"What kind of behavior is this?" Her brother shouted at me, grabbing me by collar.
"I will tell you everything. Can't you see your sister recognize me" I pointed towards Rahma.
"Do you know him?" He asked her sister who was fumbling.
"What do you want?" Her father asked me seriously.
"I just wanted to show you the reality of your dear daughter!" I opened my cell phone and showed him the pictures and chats screenshots I took from Mehr's phone.
Rahma's eyes were dilated in horror. She wasn't expecting me to come to her home but she should have thought before messing with me.
"What the hell is this?" He screamed at Rahma.
"It's- it's fake bhai" She tried to defend her.
"I am the same man who once proposed to your daughter in university and fortunately you didn't agree for our marriage. Now, I am settled in my life with my wife and your daughter is trying to make my life hell" I stated to them.
"How dare you touch her" Her brother grabbed me once again but I pushed him away before he could make his next move.
"I would prefer dying before touching her. I never even laid a finger on her. They are forged pictures taken by your sister in my sleep just to manipulate my wife.
She sent this filth to my wife. Can you imagine your daughter's character who laid with a man in his bed without his consent and took his pictures just to portray this utter filth" I didn't stop saying.
"Are you a madman? You are accusing my sister in my own house" That man couldn't believe what was happening. It was fair enough.
"Is this the truth Rahma?" Her father asked her seriously, whose head was lowered in shame. He didn't cast a second look at those pictures.
"No. Papa he is lying-he said he would marry me that's why I went with him" She uttered lies.
"So you are saying you slept with him?" Her brother yelled at her.
"He-" She tried to lie again.
"Listen to me clearly man! I didn't slept with your filthy sister. She just took pictures with me in my sleep just to defame me" I said to him firmly.
"And I have CCTV footage. So if you don't want me to sue her for defamation. Ask her to accept it in front of everyone and ask my wife for forgiveness" I said to her brother.
Her brother moved to her quickly and slapped her hard across her cheeks. I was just watching the drama in front of my eyes. Her mother was standing silently, shocked at the character of her daughter.
Rahma finally accepted it in front of her family after getting the humiliation she deserved that these pictures were in fact taken in my sleep only without me being aware of her presence in my room.
It was my friend Faraz's business success party in a hotel owned by his brother-in-law. It was a few days after I came back from Dubai.
I was actually enjoying the party as some of my colleagues from university also attended the party. We were remembering our old memories together and as expected Rahma was also there in the party.
My mood turned sour as my eyes fell at her. I knew she was going to pull the same stunt she did at the previous party of Faraz.
I remember when she walked towards me and Mehr. I met her after months. The last time I saw her at Faraz's house and fortunately I had left the moment she arrived. Now I was looking at her after ages. She was the same as she was before. Cunning and smart.
She played with her words very well.
After dinner, I was standing under the tree, smoking a cigarette. I wasn't a smoker though. On such occasions only in my friends company I used to smoke a cigarette.
"Ehan!" I turned around to see the person and I could recognize the voice.
"What?" I shrugged my shoulders.
"Are you mad at me?" She asked nicely.
"Oh come on Rahma! Why would I be mad at you. We only get mad at the people who matters to us and you are simply nobody to me" I sarcastically laughed at her and threw my cigarette on the floor.
"Don't say that. We both know how badly you wanted to marry me" She smiled ear to ear.
"Oh please it was you who were dying for me. And you are forgetting how shamelessly you used to chase me" I taunted her happily. It was actually nice to see her mood turn low.
"I always loved you and I still do" She mumbled.
"Thank you but I don't need your love" I looked away.
"Can't everything go back to how it was. My parents won't be a trouble this time" She held my arm for my attention.
I started laughing again.
"You live in a fool's paradise. My goodness!" I pulled my arm back from her hold.
"You don't even know how many times I have thanked Allah for not getting me married to you. Alhamdulillah I have a gem of a wife who loves me a lot" I said to her proudly.
She was nothing in front of Mehr. My Mehrbano was a beautiful woman inside out unlike her. I can't explain in words how thankful I am for getting married to her.
"What does she even have? She is not an extraordinary woman" She burned in jealousy. Her face was a sight to see.
"She is extraordinary and she is everything to me. Don't you dare to mention her again in such a way!" I glared at her.
"Possessive han!" She chuckled, made a fool of herself more.
"Go away. Don't waste my time. I am not what you want. I am a married man who is faithful to his wife" I glared at her before leaving.
I looked for Mehr but I couldn't find her anyway. Someone told me she went to the washroom. I went there and waited for her outside.
When she walked out, she looked sad. I felt as if she was crying. I asked her if she was fine. She said it was headache.
She looked so sad and I just don't like when is sad so I tried to cheer her up. She loved ice cream. I remember how every time we went out she asked for ice cream and most of the time she ate mine too which I gladly gave her.
But she straight away refused for ice cream. When I tried to get intimate she moved away. She never did that before. Not that I was mad at her for doing so but I was worried what happened to her suddenly.
That night I couldn't sleep properly without her near me. I couldn't make myself pull her in my arms when she refused to be close to me. I respected her opinion and didn't make a move again.
Little did I know it was just the beginning of the restless nights I had to spend without her.
Ehan is a jerk but not a cheater. He has tons of flaws but at least he isn't morally corrupt.
Some of you guessed accurately that he didn't cheat. I had given many hints in the previous chapters about it. Smart readersð
In the next episode rest of the hotel scene will be revealed. You will get your answers.
If he is not a cheater, it doesn't mean he is a saint. He had committed a number of mistakes and he will pay for it. Definitely!!!
And the laughing scene of Rahma and Ehan is a perfect example of one's perception. We perceive what we have in our minds. Mehr believed Ehan was cheating on her so she perceived it like that. She had her reasons and that's what human psychology is.
Not everything we see is always true!!
What was your favorite scene in the chapter?ð«¶
Mine was that Mohabat conversation between Ehan and Mehr. Urdu just hit harder. I wish I can write something entirely in Urdu.
I am super excited for upcoming chaptersâ¨ð¥¹
p.s I love ranting these days lolð
