"Main tum se muhabat karta hoon. Tumhari khaatir itna bara gunnah kar liya maine. Tum mujhe nahi chor sakti. Nahi chor sakti" My voice was high, as much high that I never thought it could be.

(I love you. I committed a sin in your love. You can't leave me now. You just can't leave me)

"Jo bhi tum ny kia khud ke lie kiya. Don't blame me for your wrongdoings" She spat at me with hatred in her eyes.

(Whatever you have done, you did it for yourself)

"Don't say that. Don't treat me like that. Please. I can't live without you. I love you. Please understand!" I begged.

"You can't have me now" She shook her head.

"No. Please. Don't say that" I was on the verge of crying.

"It's because of your greed you have lost me. Everything we do has consequences. This..our separation is a consequence of your wrong doings. You. Have. Lost. Me. Forever!!" She emphasized at her words and moved behind to leave me alone there.

"No. Please don't leave me" I begged.

As she ran from there, the lights turned on. When I came out of the trance, my surroundings were filled with noises.

My eyes fell at the rows filled with students. They cheered us for our performance. My lips curled into a small smile. I couldn't believe I have done it. I was so nervous at the beginning but I was glad it went well.

"Let's give a big hand applause for Ehan Haider and Kainat Ahmed for delivering such impactful performances" The announcer one again charged the audience.

I was the one of the lead in the play. I was never meant to be a part of it. I just joined the dramatics society to fill the column of my extracurricular activities because I hardly took part in anything. I was never a social kind of person. I don't know why the president was admant to choose me to play lead.

I wasn't a good choice I knew that.

"You were fabulous Ehan! Your voice had so much emotions. Your future wife would be lucky to have you. I can just picture how intensely you will confess your love to her" Azar, my friend wrapped his arm around my shoulder and blabbered.

I started laughing at his words. Marriage wasn't on my list in upcoming years. I wanted to remain single for a few years. Only then I will settle later.

But for once I thought how it would be to share your life with someone.

"Kiya hua bhabi ke khyaloon main kho gae" One of my other friend joked.

(Are you lost in thoughts about your future wife's)

"Konsi bhabi?" I asked taken aback.

(Whom you are talking about?)

"Rahma Ismail" He showed his teeth.

"Shut up. Be respectful" I growled.

"Why. I mean. She is beautiful" He countered.

"So what if she is beautiful" I shot back.

"It doesn't mean anything to you?" He asked as if I blurted something absurd.

"Yes. It doesn't" I shrugged my shoulders.

"She is interested in you Ehan! You guys can make a good pair" He suggested shamelessly.

"I am not in the position to get married right now. I can't tag her along me like that without marriage. I can't play with her feelings if I can't promise her a future together" I told them seriously as they are getting on my nerves now.

"Don't get serious man! We are just saying. You should give it a chance. She is a nice girl" Azar asked me softly.

"Look Azar that's not the point. I know she is nice and I respect her a lot but the thing is I can't get married for next few years. I am not stable right now. I have responsibilities on me" I tried to explain him.

"Do you love her?" He asked me seriously.

"Love" I muttered loudly and then smiled.

"Love isn't what you guys believe" I said to them.

"Oh really. But we are asking do you love her?"

"No. I have a different perspective about it and I believe...I can't love anyone" I didn't know how to help myself.

Those shameless men started laughing at what I said. Can you even share something with your boys. They always make fun of you. Idiots.

"Why can't you love" They joked.

"Not everything is a joke" I asked them seriously before leaving.

On my way outside I met Rahma. I think she was waiting outside for me. She smiled when our gaze met. I just wanted to run away from her.

"Hi" She mumbled.

"Hi" I nodded at her.

"You were superb Ehan! I loved your performance" She was smiling brightly.

"Thank you. It's so kind of you" I replied nicely without smiling at her. I didn't want to give her any wrong signals.

"I believe what it would be like to stand at the place where Kainat was, in reality" She muttered looking at me.

"It was a drama Rahma and reality is very different. I hope you understand that" I tried to clear her doubt.

It was our last semester of graduation. I had to do masters next. My father was already paying a lot for my studies. I couldn't make a good earning by just giving tuitions. We were not financially stable and I had to support my family first.

I wasn't in a hurry to get married. I don't know why Rahma started taking interest in me when I never talked to a girl if it's not related to studies.

When I reached back home, it had started raining. I was fully soaked till I entered my house.

"Oh God! I hate rain" I muttered loudly.

"Rain is so beautiful Ehan!" My mother shook her head at me as if I said something silly.

"Yet it makes you wet and ill" I mocked.

"Gadha kahi ka" She muttered before going to kitchen to give me lunch.

I looked outside the window. It was raining heavily and I simply hated rain. I don't know why. Maybe because in my childhood I got seriously ill after getting soaked in rain.

"Where is papa?" I asked her loudly so she could hear me.

"He went to see his friend. Talha bhai has fever" I told me.

"I don't like that guy" I told her about my dislike.

"Why?"

"I get creepy vibes from him" I asked.

"Because of his life choices. Well you are right at your place but he is an old friend of your father. Talha bhai had always helped your father in difficult times so he had an utmost respect and soft corner for him" She replied.

"Fair enough" I understood.

A few minutes later, mama received a call from papa. He asked for me to get him from his friends house. As it was still raining heavily and he wouldn't be able to get a transport.

I borrowed the car from our neighbors and reached at Talha uncle's house. I got out of the car after parking it on the porch.

My gaze fell at a young girl twirling in the garden under the rainy sky. She was enjoying the rain at it's maximum. I had never seen her before in this house.

"Hey!" I called her.

She stopped at her place and looked at my direction with questioning gaze. She then pointed at her chest. She meant if I was talking to her.

I nodded.

She was completely soaked in the rain. Her black shawl wrapped around her upper half maintained her modesty.

"You will get sick" I couldn't stop myself from asking her. I couldn't see anyone get sickened by the torturous rain.

I wanted to help her but she wasn't in the mood to accept it.

She just smiled at me like mama did today as if I said something silly. Her smile was very pretty. From afar I could see her eyes twinkling.

"Believe me. You will catch cold" I asked her as if she herself was unaware of hazards of rain.

She nodded her head at me and took steps behind. In the next few seconds, she disappeared from the scene.

That was the first time I ever saw her, Mehrbano.

My Mehr.

So we have finally reached Ehan's side of the story.

What are your thoughts after getting a glimpse of his past life.

I am so excited to write his part.
