Aiden point of view

'Susan speak now'

'Sir, you need to understand I didn't mean for all this to occur'

'Susan from what I know so far you, are responsible for the pictures that were given to the magazines. You are also responsible for Ava being fired somehow, you caused Ava to get sick resulting to her needing immediate medical attention, you better start talking, or things seriously won't be looking good for you Susan. These are serious allegations against you'

'Sir please I can explain'

'Sit and start talking, we don't have all day'

'Mr. Morgan...I'm not the one that got Ava fired regarding accusing her of money laundering.... I was aware that it was going to happen but I'm not the one that did it' she explained while taking a seat beside Maxwell.

'Susan who was responsible?'

'I can't say... the person threatened me to not speak of their name' Susan exclaimed her voice cracking in fear.

'Susan I will do a lot worse than that said person. If I were you, I would start talking right now' I ordered instilling more fear into her.

'Miranda.. Miranda is the one that got Ava fired...She is also the one I gave the pictures to for the magazines. I put substances in the coffee I gave Ava to make her sick so you would think she is incompetent for the job as your PA. I wanted to be your personal assistant, that has always been my ambition and aspiration before I started working for you. When I applied and Ava got it, I was....'

'Jealous' I added

'Jealous... I've always wanted the PA job. Miranda helped me get the job I have currently. She was the one that gave you my cv and begged you to give me a chance. Miranda and I somewhat grew up together, my mother was Miranda's family's maid so I often spent most of my time at their place. When I had finally graduated from college, I didn't have the necessary experience and there was nowhere willing to hire me to get experience. Perhaps Miranda could foresee a situation that I could be useful to her, so she tried getting me a job here. You didn't want to employ me at first, but she was able to convince you to do so'

'I love working here, it gave me a chance of belonging something I've never truly felt. I wanted to become a PA so desperately that I let it cloud my mind. I started seeing Ava as an obstacle, I hated the praises that she got for a job that I felt I was more qualified for. I hated that people loved her and respected her so easily while it took me months to get. I wanted her name to be tarnished, I wanted her to be made a mockery of. I realize now that my actions were coming from a place of insecurity and desperation to be loved by others. I believed my actions were justified because she took what I ever so desperately wanted. Miranda also hated how close you two were and how you seemed to pick Ava's side over her own. She hated that Ava came first to you and she was always looked at as if she was the bad guy. We were able to find a common enemy, Ava, and that was enough for us to act on. I attempted to remove Ava multiple times, but Miranda was finally able to. I have no idea how she did it. All I know is she told me she was going to have it all sorted and the next thing I saw was Ava crying so at that moment I knew we had succeeded. I thought I could finally be in the position I have always wanted. I thought my dream was becoming a reality when you were requesting I do personal tasks for you and I knew that if you wanted to you could have a new personal assistant fill in for Ava immediately that it would appear as if nothing ever occurred. I thought the fact that I'm doing it means I'm one step closer to the PA position'

'Maxwell informed me of you being involved in taking pictures of Ava as well as him? He also stated that you employed him for that role and also the role as your boyfriend?'

'Yes sir, I did' she confesses while shamefully looking done.

'What substance did you put in Ava's coffee?'

'I was given it by the chemist, I don't know exactly what it is, I just know what it would do'

'Susan you do know, that alone could cause you to be in trouble. You basically attempted murder' I shouted; all I could see was rage.

'I didn't want to kill her, all I wanted was for her to feel so sick she couldn't work for a while and that would cause you to see she was incompetent for the job' Susan tried explaining as if it would better the situation at hand.

'Susan, your actions could have caused Ava to die. You don't even know what you stirred into her drink. You don't know what the dosages are. Do you realize how delusional you sound right now'

'Sir-'

'Susan enough no more excuses'

I picked up the phone to call Miranda.

'Sorry the number you are trying to call is unavailable at the moment, please call again later'

I tried calling her other cellphone, but I got the same result.

'Susan, Maxwell leave my office. Both of you will not be working here any longer. Your time in this establishment is over. Pack your things so that the security can escort the both of you out. If you are not gone before the end of the day yourself and your belongings will be thrown out' I ordered

'I don't want to hear anymore from either one of you. You're done here. Get out'

'Sir please this is all I have; I don't have any other place or any other source of income' Susan started begging as tears was falling from her eyes.

'You should have thought of that when you destroyed someone else's source of income' I barked back my patience wearing extremely thin.

'I said get out of my office the two of you. You are just as bad as each other. Desperate to ruin someone else for your own benefit and you seriously think you can truly be happy or get what you desire knowing you destroyed another. The both of you... the three of you are pathetic. miserable and evil. Get out of my office this stance' I mocked them as they stood there trying to blame each other for the actions they both contributed in.

Hearing my voice through the door the security guards opened the door to escort both Susan and Maxwell out of my office.

Once they were gone, I tried calling Susan's two mobile numbers again, but I got nothing.

I called another number that would help me find out what was going on once and for all.

'Mr. Jones, I would like you to do a job for me' I asked once he had picked the call.

'Mr. Morgan I wasn't expecting your call, what would you like for me to do' said the voice of a man I had not heard in a while.

'I want you to find the where abouts of Miranda I'm sure you know who I'm talking about. I need you to find out where she is and the activities, she has been involved in for the past six months. Is that clear?'

'Yes sir. I will have all the necessary information ready for you once I've gathered them'

'I will pay you abundantly for this Mr. Jones'

'Thank you, sir, I will definitely look deep into her'

'Talk to you then'

'Talk to you soon' Mr. Jones exclaimed before I hung up the phone.

Third person narrative

Aiden appeared in front of Ava's door after a long day at work. He knocked on the door and waited patiently for Ava to open it.

After a few moments the door swung open and revealed an exhausted looking Ava. She resembled someone that hadn't had a wink of sleep in days.

Aiden was about to speak but was cut by Ava.

'Aiden come in' she said moving away from the door to let Aiden into her apartment.

Ava's heart was beating faster than it usually did. By the look on Aiden's face she could tell he had plenty to say and not about good things.

She had a feeling he was about to unravel secrets she wasn't prepared to hear but had to, nonetheless.

Closing the door after Aiden, she made her way to where he sat on her couch. She first of all asked him if he would like anything to eat or drink.

He refused saying what he is about to tell her could not wait.

Aiden took a deep breath in an attempt to collect his thoughts, he did not know where to start with all the information he had managed to obtain from Susan and Maxwell's confessions.

He knew she would find it difficult to believe she was the sole reason to all that has been happening since she started working at Morgan Enterprise.

'Susan and Maxwell confessed to being involved in the unfortunate events that have been happening' Aiden exclaimed breaking the news suddenly to her.

'I had a feeling Susan was involved in some way but Maxwell? What does he have to gain?' Ava said in complete disbelief and confusion. She simply could not fathom the reason to Maxwell's actions although she hadn't heard it yet she knew that it wouldn't be good.

'He had a lot to gain according to him. He was hired to take pictures of you and pose as Susan's boyfriend. I found out he had an involvement when I saw a picture of you entangled in the pile of pictures he had recently printed out'

'I was shocked to say the least. I knew there was something, but I didn't expect for him to be that deep into it or this involved with Susan and Miranda'

Upon hearing this Ava became more alarmed of the sudden name drop 'Miranda is involved in this too?'

'She is, she was responsible for the pictures being distributed and possibly for you getting fired. I don't believe this is the end. I know there is more to this. I can't help but feel there is still a huge piece missing'

'Why would she even go as far as to do all that?' Ava voiced out her thoughts.

'She has this idea that it's your fault for what happened between me and her. She thinks you came between us and broke us up. Which is far from the truth. We broke up because I realized I wanted better'

'Was Susan the one that poisoned me?' Ava asked a sudden sense of realization dawned on her.

She could sense it was her but having it confirmed to her was something else altogether.

Aiden nodded not knowing how Ava would handle her confirmed suspicion.

'She tried to kill me, that was attempted murder' Ava tried to scream out her frustration, but it came out as whisper instead.

Ava tried all she could to suppress the tears that were threatening to come out.

Sensing that Ava wasn't okay Aiden moved closer and wrapped his arms around her. As if out of instinct Ava also embraced Aiden and cried in his shoulders.

'What if I died, would they have laughed over my grave knowing they had finally succeeded in removing me permanently from this earth? Would they got away with the murder they committed? Why would she poison me to the point I had to go to the hospital?'

'Jealousy' Aiden replied simply. It all stemmed from jealousy. Wanting something that some else got so easily is a driving factor for many to commit such atrocities.

'She was jealous of your position, jealous because she has always wanted it and was promised by Miranda, she would get it but never did. When my other personal assistant, left Susan saw that as an opportunity but since you took the job 'away' from her you became her problem'

'Ava, I would do anything to ensure you are protected. No harm will come to you as long as I'm alive. Miranda, Susan and Maxwell will pay for what they had conspired against you'

As Aiden spoke those words, he realized that he could not hide that he had feels for Ava beyond being her boss or in their current case her former boss.

He knew it was deeper, he could feel it. He has tried to suppress the feeling for a long time, but he is ready to admit it to himself.

He wasn't sure how Ava felt about him. He wanted to believe she cared for him more than just someone who she had to work for.

He wanted her to see that he cared for her but feared the possibility of being rejected by her. He didn't want to add to her confusion and pain.

He didn't want to be the type of guy that saw her weakness as an opportunity. He stopped himself from kissing her.

Somethings are worth waiting longer for he thought as he continued to hold Ava in his arms as she remained silent in her own thoughts.
