Chapter 33

Ava's pov

'Working at the car wash (oh oh yeah yeah)

At the car wash yeah' I singed to the top of my voice as Aiden drove the car.

We were making our way to the cliffs where we will be going hiking.

I turned on the radio as the song came on which brought me back to my childhood.

At first Aiden looked at me funny but later joined in singing to the chorus as he didn't know the full song.

This continued as we made our way closer to our destination.

Jokingly I exclaimed 'are we there yet?'

We still have half an hour to go.

As he said this, I let out a huff. Wanting to annoy him I waited awhile before asking again 'are we there yet?'

'Ava' Aiden spoke almost in a stern voice, but I could tell he did not mean it in that way he was trying to 'scare' me.

Ha, nice try.

'Let's play a game...I spy with my little eye something beginning with c'

'Ava you and I know the car is a bad place to play that game as we could drive past the thing'

'That makes it even more fun' I exclaimed in a childish manner 'now let's play. You have to answer'

'Let me guess, clouds?' He replied sarcastically.

'Yes, you got it' I said as if he had just cracked a huge case.

'Okay your turn'

'I spy with my little eye something beginning with s' he said while keeping his focus on the road.

'S.... what begins with s. Sea?'

'Ava there is literally no sea around here. Guess again' he laughed

'Mmmm, sweets?'

'Nope. Do you give up?'

'No... snail?'

'Have you seen a snail recently?'

'No, I haven't but maybe you have'

'It's not that Ava. Do you give up?'

'Yes, tell me'

'Stable. We went by one about 5 minutes ago'

'That's unfair'

'In your words that's what makes it more fun' he mimicked my voice.

'I don't sound like that, Aiden' I exclaimed somewhat horrified by his impression of me.

'Yes, you do. I do a pretty good job'

'I'm Aiden and I think I'm some big shot CEO that is just so irresistible. I think I'm so misunderstood' I mimicked his voice also. Wanting to give him a taste of his own medicine.

'Now Ava I do not sound like that' he was caught off guard by my impression.

'I do not sound like that' I mimicked him again copying the sentence he just uttered.

I laughed witnessing the look on his face. He looked seriously over it and he certainly did not have a comeback.

'We are here' he shortly announced.

He parked his car and went straight to the boot of the car. I got out and followed suit.

He took out all our hiking equipment but left the picnic basket for when we are finished hiking.

Luckily, we already had our outfits worn.

'Let's go' he announced with excitement while handing me a bottle filled with water.

I followed as he started moving away from where we stood. I looked around my surrounds observing the beauty of nature.

Everything was so peaceful. Nature as usual was doing its own thing.

The birds chirped while flying to their destinations, I looked around and saw many cliffs and mountains in the area.

I had never been here before, nor have I heard of this place. It was absolutely beautiful, I breathed in as the fresh air filled my lungs.

I turned my head to Aiden and saw he was also taking in his surrounds.

'My father and I use to come here all the time' he suddenly spoke as if having a moment of deja vu.

'He would bring me here when he felt like I needed to be around nature more. We would something's go hiking or fishing. You see over there' he pointed towards the forest to our left 'is a stream. You have to go through the forest first. Once you go through it there is a stream on the other side'

'Maybe one day we would try fishing. I've never gone fishing before so I wouldn't know what to do but I've always had a desire to do so' I confessed.

I've always wanted to experience fishing but never had the time and when I did no one I knew had an interest in fishing so that had always discouraged me.

At least now with Aiden I could do that.

'Next time we will certainly be back here for fishing' Aiden exclaimed which was followed by silence.

'I can't believe you've never watched bring it on before. What did you think of it last night'

'It was better than I imagined but like I presumed it was basically a replica of every high school movie in the early two thousand' he explained

'Mmmm' was my only response

'It wasn't the worst I've seen but I would not be leaping at the chance to watch another franchise'

'Since you are such an expert what movie or show would you recommend?' I asked jokingly but curious to know his response.

'I don't have a specific one, but I have favorites from different genres. Comedy I would probably say... white chicks or little man. Action or supernatural probably the marvel movies. I love every single one ever produced. For horror I really can't pick'

'I've never really watched a marvel movie. I've seen bits here and there but never a fully movie'

'It's settled then, we are having a movie night. Not sure when but it is happening' he announced not bothering to ask me if I agree to it or not.

'I don't think I have a choice at this point'

'Honey, you don't'

Honey, he's never called me that before. It's probably no big deal, it most have slipped out or he calls his female friends that when he's close to them. Does that mean he sees me as one of his friends? Does he think I'm close to him?

I shook my head, wanting to clear my mind of the ridiculous questions that were consuming it.

'Are you okay, Ava?' Aiden asked with an obvious look of concern on his face.

'I'm fine, I just needed to clear my head that's all' was my response as we continued to walk.

I mistakenly stepped on a rock which almost caused me to fall but luckily Aiden was able to stop me before I landed straight to the ground.

'Okay I think we have done enough walking for today. I think your legs are getting tired' Aiden exclaimed speaking my mind

'Yes, I'm hungry'

'Race you back!' Aiden quickly said and ran off before I could comprehend what was happening.

'Come back here, that is so not fair. Aiden you are a cheater' I ran after him, but I swear this man could run.

It's not entirely surprising since he has long legs; but I did not know he was that fast. Especially for someone who sits in his office doing paperwork for majority of the day.

It was a struggle for me to catch up to him. To no surprise he got to the car before I did.

'You're slow' He said in a joking manner.

'I was at a disadvantage. You clearly cheated plus your legs are abnormally long. I also almost fell, remember'

'All I hear is excuses'

'Next time we will have a proper race and watch me beat you at it' I warned

'Whatever help me spread this blanket' he playfully rolled his eyes while giving me one side of the blanket to hold.

We spread the blanket on top of the glassy area. I quickly walked towards the boot of the car grabbing the basket in the boot of the car.

I walked and place the basket in the middle of the blanket.

Aiden went back to the boot of the car and when he came back, I saw that he had speakers in his hands.

'Will you do the honors of picking the first song' he exclaimed in a playful but polite manner while [;acing the speakers on top of the blanket.

'Yes sir'

He gave me a playful death stare.

'Alexia play girls in the hood by Megan thee stallion'

'This is good' was the response I got when the song played for a couple seconds.

'I'm glad you think so. Now let's eat'
