Ava's pov
I walked all the way over to my apartment. Once I got inside, I started evaluating everything that has ever happened that went unnoticed by me in the past.
I dropped my bag on the floor and walked towards my bedroom, I was feeling hungry as I was on a mission. I thought back to past events I had blindly missed.
If she truly did do this, then this couldn't have been the first sign that would give away her true intentions. She has been acting rather unusual lately.
The first thing that comes to mind is her excess about of phone use. She may be talking to her new man, but I sometimes feel her phone is her 'barrier' or 'shield' away from me.
It is as if she consumes herself with the phone to avoid me. I noticed her excessive use but never dwelled on it too much.
I flicked my pen and wrote down what I just thought off.
I also noticed her odd behavior at the skating rink. How she quickly turned around and looked the other way as if hoping I didn't see her.
She also said she was going on the skating rink and even went to the stall to purchase skates, yet I did not see her anywhere after.
She was not acting like herself at all yesterday when she kept on coming to my office to gossip about different things that really were not work related whatsoever.
She would come in as if trying to waste my time or was it perhaps...... she was trying to see if the thing she put in my coffee was working?
Which would explain her unusual behavior and concern or perhaps false concern when my body began reacting to whatever that was in the coffee.
She hasn't called since yesterday to check up on me or even sent a text asking if I'm okay.
The doctors did say I was fine on the general checkup, but they took some blood and urine samples to test in the lab. Which usually takes longer to get the results.
The results they gave me was only the general checkups.
Looking at the list in front of me these claims are utterly outrageous. What if I have this all wrong and I was scammed by the manager at the cafe who wasn't ready to take responsibility for what happened and was looking for someone or something to blame.
I might be reaching. I might be accusing a completely innocent person whose intentions is purely good or is it a case of the truth is more bazar than fiction.
Breathing out loud, I collapsed on my bed. I lay there for a while trying to collect my thoughts.
All these claims are wild, and I don't even know what to even think right now. Maybe it is the fear of possibly losing my life that has me rethinking everything and trying to put the blame on anything.
I need food! I screamed in my head out of frustration.
As I got up from my mattress the door rang. Who is that? I don't remember inviting anyone over.
I got up fully and walked over to the door. Too lazy and drained to check the pip hole I used the key to unlock and swung the door open.
As the door opened, I saw Aiden standing there.
'Hello. I didn't know you were coming?' I said but it came out as more of an statement.
'I wanted to check up on you to make sure you were alright. Are you going to let me in?' Aiden raised one eyebrow waiting for my response.
'Oh yes, come in' I ushered opening the door wider for him while I gave way for him.
'I brought food. I wasn't sure if you had eaten so I bought food on my way here'
He handed the bag over to me once I had shut the door and turned to face him.
'Aiden you shouldn't have; I was about to make something to eat' I exclaimed feeling it was wrong to take the food from him.
'No. It's not a bother. I got it on the way here, so it wasn't much of a hassle and besides you don't need to be cooking in your condition'
'How do you feel?' Mr. Morgan asked looking around my face searching for any possible answer.
'I feel much better. I am in a better condition than I was yesterday.... I even went out for a bit' I said while he continued to look at me.
'That's great, it's good that you're feeling better Ava'
I smiled and walked pasted him with the bag he brought in my hands. I walked over to the kitchen and placed the food on the counter.
'I didn't know you were this messy'
Aiden teased from the other room.
'I'm sick remember' I said matter-of-factly
I took out two plates and placed them beside the counter.
Aiden walked over to where I stood. 'Where do you keep the forks?' he asked as I dished fried rice on both plates and chicken tights.
Luckily it was still hot, so I didn't have to spend time warming it back up.
'It's over in the top drawer over there' I said pointing towards the direction of the drawer where the cutlery was.
I turned my attention back to the food. Once I was done, he placed the two forks on each plate and took both plates to the sitting room.
He placed both plates on the living room table. He took off his suit jacket and was left with just his white shirt.
I sat down on the couch while he made himself more comfortable.
'What would you like to watch' I asked him turning my attention to the television that was currently turned off. I picked up the remote that was in front of me and held it towards the tv.
I looked at him as if to answer the question.
'I don't really mind what we watch' he said looking more interested in eating the food in front of him.
I looked at the television, and just put on YouTube. I clicked on funny clips because there was nothing better on the home page.
Aiden had already dug his way into his food.
'You must be really hungry' I stated watching as he ate the rice.
'This is my first meal of today. I was extremely busy with work' he explained.
'How was the office today?'
'It is always hectic, but today it was a lot worse. There was just so my much work to be done. The Secretary I hired for the rest of the week just isn't you'
'You know how I like everything done, and you always have everything just the way I expect it. I did give her the email you had organized for this week schedules, but it just didn't feel right'
'I didn't know you missed me that much sir. It's only been one day' I said feeling the heat rise up to my cheeks, yet I couldn't help the smile creeping its way to my face.
'You are good, no scratch that you are the best at what you do' he confesses wholeheartedly.
'Thank you, sir, that means a lot' I sincerely replies.
'What did I say about calling me sir?'
'It makes you feel old even though you are not old as we can see' I mimicking his voice remembering the time he said those same words when we had dinner.
'Are you trying to mock my voice. Are we voice shaming now?'
'Ahaha voice shaming Aiden, don't even start there is no such thing' I exclaimed through laughs
'That is a lie, there is and you're doing it right now' he joked trying not to laugh as he said those words.
'You and I know you totally made it up' he shook his head indicating no. 'Yes, you did'
'Voice shaming is a thing. I'll give you examples such as... Patrick Stewart! There you go'
'Who is he and he has probably not been voice shamed' I counter claimed his argument.
'He is. He is an actor. Okay let me pick someone you might know....Beyoncé'
'Okay now you are talking utter bull. I will agree she has a district voice but no one would dare shame her. Not in their right minds they won't' I spoke out knowing I had won our little playful argument.
'I cannot win. Can I'
I laughed while I turned my head towards the tv and saw that there was just nothing but random clips that were supposed to be funny but aren't.
I turned my attention to the food I had not touched much. I picked up my fork and continued eating.
'Since you are basically off this week. I think we need to do more to get you out of the house. I know you are resting but the times you feel better should be used to do activities' Aiden randomly suggested.
'I am fine, I have things I could do to kill time. Don't worry about it'
'I don't think it's healthy to be cooped up in your apartment all day and bedsides you will have company' he replied back. I thought about it and evaluated my options.
'Okay, what do you have in mind?' I asked after a while.
'The cinema, hiking, camping. Stuff like that' he shrugged.
'Camping and hiking sounds good. I've never done either of those before' I exclaimed truly excited about doing does activities.
'Hiking would be the first then since it does not take much preparation' Aiden said as he continued to eat his food.
I thought about it for a second and asked 'when would you prefer to do it?
'Let's do it on..... Thursday. I will have most plans moved to tomorrow then whatever I didn't have time for I will do it over the weekend'
'Sounds like a plan'
'Yes, it's settled. Now eat! You have barely touched your food'
I jumped a bit by his sudden tone.
'You really don't know how to not be in the office do you' I exclaimed laughing out loud a bit after I had regained myself from the shook.
I looked at him and he had a look of guilt in his face.
At that moment he had finished eating and was perhaps waiting for me to finish my own food.
'I don't' he simply replied turning his attention to the screen.
I too turned my head to the direction of the tv and the random funny clips were still playing but this time it was funny interviews.
In the interview we were currently watching there were a couple of people who were gathered outside of their neighborhood in search of a leprechaun.
I let out a laugh and so did Aiden. I continued to laugh wondering how a whole neighborhood could be convinced that there was a leprechaun on the loose.
Another woman who was driving by was interviewed and she said ' it must be a crackhead wandering around'
These people are somethings else.
Once I had calmed down a bit, I took a fork full of rice and placed it into my mouth.
