Mr. CEO & I2,071 words~11 min read

Ava's pov

'Hey Susan, how are you today?' I greeted as I made my way through the hallway.

Susan was in her usual receptionist desk. Which I found surprising since I'm usually the first one to arrive at the office on this floor.

She must have had a great time with her new man. Thinking about yesterday I don't recall seeing her at the skating rank after I had spoken to her.

She looked up from her computer and smiled once she saw me 'Ava, you're here. Good morning'

'Good morning to you too, what made you come early today?' I asked curiously while I stood beside her desk.

'I woke up early and decided to come to work earlier than usual'

'Actually, I was able to go to the cafe today and I brought coffee for you. Just the way you like it' she reached behind her and brought a cup of coffee, placing it on the desk in front of me.

'Thank you, you're a life saver' I praised reaching out to grab it. I immediately took a sip from the hot beverage.

'Mmm, this tastes a little different than I am used to' I questioned, it tasted like regular latte with a hint of something else.

'It's from the new cafe that recently opened up close to where I live' she explained watching me while I took another sip from the drink.

Speaking about where she lives, I am still yet to find out what part of the city she resides in but that is a topic for another day.

'Thank you again' I waved the black cup that was in my hand a little in the air while smiling in appreciation 'I must start going, I need to be organized before Mr. Morgan arrives'

'You're having lunch with me today, right?' She asked before I could leave.

'Yes, I will be'

'Great' she exclaimed while I took my leave.

I made it into my office, immediately dropping my bag on the floor and placing the keys on my desk.

I looked at my phone, just as I looked at it a notification came through informing me that I had a new message from Damien.

I picked up my phone intending to reply but decided it would be best to reply once I had my morning organized especially Mr. Morgan's scheduled meeting.

A few hours have gone and nothing eventful has happened apart from Susan coming into my office on serval occasions. She would ask a few questions or would want to talk about what celebrity gossip that was in the tabloids this week.

She was acting rather strange and not her usual self. When I asked her if she had anything on her mind, she would quickly brush it off saying there was nothing bothering her.

Not wanting to infuriate her I decided it was best to not ponder of her sudden behavior but I would admit it is extremely frustrating when trying to get work done and your constantly being distracted not to mention I have had a head and stomach ache since this morning.

It has been progressing over time and I am not fond of leaving my duties early. So, going home at this time is certainly not an option.

As I was about leave my office and make my way to Mr. Morgan's office Susan once again walked through my doors wanting to gist about something she had seen.

'Susan, can we talk at our lunch break I need to inform Mr. Morgan about his meeting at twelve pm' I explained as I held my iPad in my hand and while making my way to the door where she stood.

'That's fine. I will talk to you then'

She left abruptly making her way back to her receptionist desk. In the hallway there were a few people who sat on the couches waiting to be attended to.

I honestly don't see how she thinks she has time to gossip or why she can't wait until lunchtime to spill all the tea and juicy gossip.

Especially when there are people to attend to, it does not look good at all nor those it look, good for the company's image.

I can already see the headlines

'Morgan limited unable to fulfil the needs of their consumers' or 'they claim they are for the people, yet they don't listen to the people'

It would be horrible and definitely not what Mr. Morgan needs. He has worked too hard to be set back in this way.

Speaking of Mr. Morgan, he was currently sitting on his desk when I walked in. Since our moments together these past two days our interactions with each other have been different.

We have moments when it's strictly just about business especially when we are under pressure such as right now. We also have moments when, we are more chilled and relate more as friends than employer and employee. The atmosphere between us has certainly changed, I see him less as a CEO and more as a person I would enjoy getting to know.

'Sir you have a meeting in five minutes'

He looked up at me while I stood in front of his desk with my work iPad in my hand.

'Please remind me what the meeting will be about?' he asked once I had his attention.

'Associates of 'Cloe limited' are coming to discuss the new marketing campaign you are thinking of launching'

'I have a few... pictures from the last meeting...' I stopped talking when I felt a sharp pain in lower abdomen region.

'Ava are you okay?' Mr. Morgan asked with concern writing all over his face and voice.

'I'm fine... as I was saying they are thinking of taking more pho...' I suddenly stopped immediately bending down to hold my stomach when the iPad I held fell, the screen suddenly cracking as It made contact with the marble floor.

'Ava' Mr. Morgan shouted as he made his way over to my side.

'I am sorry Sir' I pleaded referring to the now cracked iPad scattered on his floor.

I could feel myself breaking out in sweats. The headache I felt earlier increasingly got worse as sharp pains in my stomach continued to torment me.

'Ava you need to be taken to the hospital!' Mr. Morgan ordered as he tried assisting me.

'I will be fine; I just need a drink of water and I will be able to continue with the rest of the day' I argued not wanting him to worry him any further.

'No, you are going to the hospital right now!' he spoke with authority as he lifted me into his arms.

He rushed out of his office, shouting out for Susan.

'Mr. Morgan what do you ne-'Susan suddenly stopped talking when she saw the state, I was in.

'Call the ambulance!' Mr. Morgan instructed

'What happened to her?'

'I said call the ambulance!!' Mr. Morgan roared losing his patience.

Out of fear Susan picked the phone but it slipped through her fingers.

'Susan, we don't have much time!' exclaimed a frustrated Mr. Morgan who still had me in his arms.

Not wanting to waste more time he walked over to the couch where people sat baffled by what they were experiencing.

He laid me genteelly on the couch that wasn't occupied and proceeded to call the ambulance instead.

'Susan can you get a bottle of water?' Mr. Morgan demanded as he waited for someone to attend to him on the phone.

Once there was someone on the phone he spoke 'hello I need an ambulance in Morgan limited right now. This is Aiden Morgan speaking I need the ambulance to arrive this instant!'

'Alight sir, I have one on the way right now. Should be there in twenty minutes' the woman spoke with slight fear on her voice.

'Sir here is the water' Susan spoke as she came back from the kitchen with the bottle of water Mr. Morgan had asked her to bring.

He immediately grabbed the bottle, screwed the lid open and put it towards my mouth for me to drink. He used his other hand to reach behind my neck to help support my neck while I drink.

As the water passed my lips it was as if I had tasted heaven, I did not realize how thirsty I truly was until this very moment.

Once I had finished the bottle of water Mr. Morgan immediately handed it back to Susan who stood there with a look of concern and confusion on her face.

Once Susan took the empty bottle, Mr. Morgan immediately took me from the couch which I laid on and held me back in his arms.

'To get to the hospital quicker I am going to take you down elevator where the ambulance should be once we are down' he said while looking down at me while I was still in his arms with the same look of concern and stress in his face.

He made it to the elevator, pressing the button. Once it was open, he made his way quickly inside and pressed the bottom floor button without wasting anytime.

Once the elevator doors opened and he walked through them everyone's eyes were on us stunned by the sight in front of them. I hid my face on Mr. Morgan's chest wishing I could just disappear.

People from all walks of life stopped what they were doing and stood in the same position. With nothing but curiosity, I am sure their minds summed up a million and one reasons as to why I was being held by Mr. Morgan.

Mr. Morgan seemingly not being fazed by the sudden attention on him by every single soul on the ground floor continued to walk towards the direction of the exit.

The ambulance had already arrived. Two men pulled out a stretcher and quickly made their way towards Mr. Morgan and I. Mr. Morgan genteelly placed me on the stretcher and allowed the Men to do their job.

I was strapped on tight to the stretcher. The two men pushed the stretcher slowly towards the back of the open ambulance.

'I need to go with her' I heard Aiden demand from behind me.

'Sir, there is no need, you can visit her once she has been checked into the hospital' one of the ambulance men informed Mr. Morgan

The man stood in front of Mr. Morgan while trying to reassure him.

Compared to Mr. Morgan the middle-aged man who managed to reach Mr. Morgan's lower armpit. Mr. Morgan stood tall staring down at him as he repeated 'I am going in the ambulance with her'

Not wanting to offend the already angered CEO the ambulance man agreed.

Mr. Morgan was about to make his way towards me in the back of the ambulance when someone averted his attention.

'Sir, what about the meeting this afternoon?' A man who stood at the same height as Mr. Morgan asked clearly panicked by the obvious change in today's schedule.

'Derrick, I am sure you are capable of leading the meeting without me. You have the copy of the files which my assistant sent to yours. Inform them of what we are looking for' Mr. Morgan exclaimed as he left the man standing there.

The man walked away once he thought for a minute.

'Ava, how are you feeling now?' Mr. Morgan asked as he got close to me.

'I still have sharp pains through my stomach as well as headaches, but you shouldn't worry'

Before he could speak. The same ambulance man Mr. Morgan was talking to previously started asking me about myself and my medical records.

'I have all of her details on file. I can go to retrieve them'

'Mr. Morgan that will not be necessary. I will just ask her a few questions while my partner those a few check-ups before making our way to the hospital' The man spoke.

'So, Ava do you know of any allergies you may have?'
