Chapter 1 of 23

THE BEGINNING

THE BEGINNING...463 words~3 min read

When I opened my eyes, I was hit by a shimmering light from outside. My red curtains were projecting a dim red light throughout the room. I turn directly to my night stand where my phone is kept. It was 8:05, I grabbed a cup of water and walked to my balcony. I felt the wind blowing through my hair.

I look up to see the bright blue and white clouds covering the whole sky. The air smells like pancakes with berry sauce. I look across to the houses in front of me. I could see the bridge that leans against the river; the newspaper boy cycling around the neighbourhood handing out newspapers; and you can hear the low noise of people in their cars trying to get to work. I breathe, this is the last time enjoying the view. That's when my phone starts buzzing. I was so caught up in this view I totally forgot about Susan. I quickly answered the phone, I could hear her screaming on top of her lung into the phone "Nicole where are you, you were supposed to be at my house 25 minutes ago." I look at the time it's already 8:30" ahh the time went by too quickly. I ended the call and started to frantically get ready. I run into the shower while brushing my teeth. I put on my shorts while putting on my hoodie at the same time. I grab my suitcase while frantically running out the door. I started to think to myself how much I improved at multitasking. That's when a chill ran up my spine, I looked down to see me standing barefoot on the cold cement sidewalk. That's when I remember that I forgot my shoes and my phone. I ran back inside the house and ran upstairs to grab my socks. I'm jumping up and down trying to find my phone while putting on my socks. That's when I tripped over something and lost balance, causing me to fall on my face. I looked up to see what tripped me, it was the novel "Vampire Stalker" I was reading last night. I was too lazy to get up and put it on my nightstand so I threw it on to the floor. Now I'm clearly regretting my decision. That's when I spotted my phone under my bed. I probably threw it under there while running to take a bath. I quickly sat back up, dusted myself off and pulled my socks up. Then I turned my attention towards my phone. I grabbed my phone from under the bed and ran downstairs to slip on my shoes. I frantically grab my suitcase and bolt out of my house to Susan's house, (which is 2 houses away, thankfully).
