Embry's POV.
"Hello, I'm Abigail," greets the human girl who was back at Cyrus penthouse. She is the one that he is almost scared to death. She extended out her hand for me to take and provided me with a charming smile.
"Nice to meet you, Abigail I'm Embry," I respond while returning her smile with a smile of my own and also extending out my hand for her to take. We shake.
So far I really like Abigail. Gutter has appointed her with the duty of showing me the ropes. Apparently, Abigail is the stand-up slave as Gutter made it his purpose to point out.
She follows orders. She doesn't speak unless spoken to, and she doesn't place her nose in places where it doesn't belong. These were his words, not mine. He basically, said that I should strive to be like Abigail.
It's official! Gutter is a prick and I don't like him at all. He delivered me to Abigail right after advising me that he would be watching, so I needed to watch what I said and did. I don't like him.
Now, Abigail is an entirely different story. She's adorable and such a pretty human girl. Her face is fresh and clean, natural beauty for sure with her big, bright, and ocean blue eyes. She also highlighted her golden blonde hair that glows with her naturally tanned skin.
Her frame is small and petite. She is a tiny little thing. She is fun-sized as my brother likes to say. Ruq would love him some Abigail into she opens up her mouth because once she starts there is no stopping.
Let's just say that Abigail is a tad bit too talkative. In fact, that's all she does is talk. She hasn't stopped talking since we introduced ourselves, which had to be around 10 minutes ago. How can such a tiny girl have such a big mouth? I mean humans sure do know how to gossip!
If Celine was here she would have been told Abigail to shut her trap, but I'm not Celine and I don't have the heart to tell her to be quiet, no matter how annoying Abigail chit chat can be.
She has been literally yapping her gums about any and everything. Thankfully, she hasn't spoken since our first encounter.
Well, at least she hasn't said a word about it to me.
Starting with something about her best friend Sam escaping with a male slave by the name of Alec. According to Abigail, the Alec guy is such a hunk but is also is a big player. Abigail said that she tried to convince Sam that it was a bad idea to follow after Alec, especially after he caused a scene in front of the vampire kings, who almost ended his life.
After that she has completely lost me, my attention is placed elsewhere.
My eyes have been exploring the haunting beautiful wonders inside this house. This place is filled with over centuries worth of memories. Everything inside here just screams vintage and antique, which is completely different from what I've seen so far when it comes to these vampire Kings' homes.
There is nothing modernize about this place. To begin with, the grand staircase is just simply grand. No marble, No expensive rugs, nothing but a simply bare hardwood floor. A creepily squeaky hardwood floor if I must add-in.
The walls are painted faded yellow and the portraits that hang on to them appear to have been created during another lifetime. We entered a small door that sit's directly underneath the staircase.
So I don't know how it looks upstairs but my eyes didn't miss the old run-down heater and classic love seat that sits right by the door. Plus, this place is filled with dust, and slipcovers are carefully placed on top of the furniture.
It's obvious that no one has resided within these walls for a very long time. Hopefully, it shall stay that way.
I don't want to run into the vampire King that owns this house. I never want to see him again. Why would Cyrus bring me here? Where is he anyway?
"Abigail," I suddenly speak up, interrupting her rambling. At this point, I don't even know what she was talking about.
Her big, bright, and ocean blue eyes light up, "She speaks," teases Abigail with another huge smile. Oh, Goddess! This girl's smile is so contagious.
"Of course I speak," I reply, making her smile harder.
"Yes, I see" she sighs releasing a deep breath," I was starting to think that you were really one of those vamp tramps,"
"Vamp Tramps," I repeat. What the hell is a vamp tramp?
My confusion must be evident because Abigail explains right away.
"Vamp tramps, slave wreckers, chosen whores, and the list go on and on. Typically, Sam comes up with the names I just agree," she shrugs, before opening up another door that leads to a small path outside in the forest.
The cool night wind blows around us and she shivers. I on the other hand released a deep sigh. A breath of fresh air is exactly what I need. The moon is now on full display, shining so brightly you will be able to see the fascinating glow beaming brightly down onto a piece of broken glass. The stars are shining brighter than diamonds in the pitch-black sky and the trees are hauntingly tall.
Yes. It's beautiful. Plus, the night is young and I feel absolutely radiant standing in the middle of it all. This is my true element. This is what I need.
"Aren't you cold," questions Abigail, suddenly regaining my attention. "It's less than 20 degrees out here, you better come along before we get sick. A sick slave is a useless slave,"
I almost burst out laughing. A cold, really? I haven't experienced a cold since when I was just a pup and that was over a century ago.
If she only knew? "Yeah, you right," I reply, suppressing my giggle. "We won't want anyone to get sick, now what were you saying about the vamp tramps," I question as she began to quickly walk down the path.
"Oh right," she says through chattered teeth. Her breath can be seen in the air as she speaks. "A vamp tramp is basically a privileged slave. They spend most of their time pleasing the Kings and are basically off-limits to any other vampire," she sneezes out her last words.
"So, how are they vamp tramps if they are not passed around," I ask her while following right behind her.
"Uh, well they basically are the Kings personally blood bag whores," she sneezes out again. "They are expected to dress the part and strut around as if they are so much better than us mere mortals. The vamp tramps are usually picked because they are the better-looking human, meaning they are typically beautiful, really beautiful,"
"That's exactly why when I first saw you back at the Kings' house I thought you were one of them," she tells me, as the light's from a row of little red cabins comes into view.
"To be honest, I really was under the impression that you were bought to replace Jasmine, into I seen you stand up to the king, once that happened I figured you must have been a foreign exchange slave or something, but then again you wouldn't be the first slave to stand up to one of the Kings, surprisingly enough,"
She shakes her head. "What is the world coming to," she adds in.
"Who's Jasmine," I question,
"Who's Jasmine," Abigail sneezes out again. Wow! Humans really do get sick quickly. We haven't been outside for more than two minutes. Poor thing! "Have you been living underneath a rock or something," she asks while sneezing into her hands.
"Jasmine is the head honcho or more like the head bitch in charge," she declares right before she opens up the door for me to enter the cabin.
I take a moment to view my new surroundings. It's really nothing special, just two small beds, bare walls, and a little closet filled with two pairs of the black and white uniforms that Abigail is wearing right now.
This place is great. It's plain and simple, just like I like it but I would be lying if I said that I didn't miss Cyrus and my little cabin retreat.
"Make yourself at home," says Abigail, while popping down onto one of the beds. "Dinner will be served late tonight so everyone can get settled in. We all are pretty exhausted from all the commotion," she advises.
"Commotion," I ask, taking a seat down onto the other bed.
"You really have been living underneath a rock," teases Abigail with a fit of giggles. I look at her like she has grown two heads and she just laughs harder.
"You don't know who Jasmine is? You don't know about the commotion back at the king's home," she continues to laugh. "You're my friend is lost or at least pretending to be,"
"Are you also going to expect me to believe that you don't know about the Golden-Haired Chosen that has started the riot in the first place," she asks, and suddenly I actually do feel lost.
The Golden Haired Chosen?
"What's a Golden-Haired Chosen," I answer her question with a question of my own.
Abigail's big, bright, and ocean blue eyes nearly pop out of their sockets. "It's not a what! It's who," over-excitedly explains Abigail. "The Golden Hair Chosen is the new it girl. Everybody and I mean every single body is currently talking about her," she dreamily sighs. "I've been told her name is Claire, and Claire my friend is probably one of the luckiest slave's in the world,"
"All the male slaves want to breed with her and all the girl's slaves want to be her, or hate her because they really do want to be her," Abigail continues to explain.
"She is braver than a bull, drop-dead gorgeous, and if that's not enough to make all of us mere mortals jealous this is," Abigail dramatically pauses before continuing on.
"She is The King of All Vampire Kings Chosen and apparently for good reason too. One slave told me that during the selection The Cold-hearted King was about to execute another vampire, just because he looked at her. The word around the slave quarters is that all at least two vampire Kings are head over hills for her,"
"Now I didn't believe it into I saw it with my own eyes," Abigail continues to tell it all. I swear this girl needs her own talk show.
"Remember that slave, Alec that I told you about," Abigail appears to be questioning herself more than she is questioning me.
"Whelp! The slave scoring Alec attempted to make his move on her and the King of all vampire Kings damn near ripped out his throat for it. Now, typically a chosen whore would cower away in fear, but not this chosen. Nope! Not Claire the golden girl. Nope,"
"She defended him. Can you believe that" Abigail appears to be questioning herself once again? "The King of All Vampires, perfectly selected little human or should I say the Golden Hair Chosen defended a human against him. She defended us,"
"Jasmine is oh so jealous. She has been desperately trying to ruin Claire's reputation. Everyone believes it's going to be the battle of glamour zombies. I can't wait," over excitedly squeals, Abigail while jumping up from the bed. "Some slaves are even betting their rations on it."
"But it's pointless! I'm telling you that, that Claire girl is going to kick Jasmine's ass and I personally don't care about her being The King Of All Vampires little chosen whore, at least she has the balls to stand up for our kind,"
Wait...
(Chosen Whore) isn't that what Cyrus called me his chosen? Gutter said that too. Why would my mate classify me as his whore? We're destined to be together I'm not just some quick fuck or pretty little toy or am I?
"Too him you are," my wolf suddenly growls. "And I hate to be the one to say I told you so," she brags. "But I told you so, Cyrus doesn't care about us, and he never did. We are just some type of trophy to him. The Wilde Chosen Whore, how glorious,"
Almost instantly my eyes begin to water. She is right? My wolf is right. I've been so stupid, naive even and the worst part is that I can't even say that I've been blindsided. It's not like he has hidden anything from me. Cyrus has made it perfectly clear that I was nothing but his property...
His little secret.
Like my wolf said I'm his Wilde Chosen Whore, nothing more or nothing less.
Suddenly, my stomach starts to churn and my head starts to spin. My heart. Physically hurt. Reality quickly comes crashing down. Thankfully, Abigail is too busy carrying on about The Golden Hair Chosen that she doesn't notice my sudden mental breakdown and before she can pick up on anything I bolt out of the room.
I've got to get out of here and fast. I need to run... run as far away as my paws can take me.
"That a girl," encourages my wolf as I take off running through darken forest.
I can hear Abigail echo calling out my name followed by barely detected footsteps chasing behind me.
"It is Gutter butter, by the smell of things," growls out my wolf. "Allow me to take over, so we can lose him," demands my wolf.
'No, I can't trust you right now," I growl back. I'm sorry I can't.
"You can always trust me," she snaps back.
"That's your problem you don't trust me. You continue to suppress your true nature and that's exactly why you continue to get hurt. If you just accept who you are, better yet who we are then maybe our dick head of a mate would accept us for whom we are as well. Then, maybe just maybe he will stop treating us like we're some broken girl that he can manipulate, control, or fuck with our head when he sees fit," continues to scold my wolf as Gutter starts to pick upon us.
"You have the backbone to show him who the fuck we are. So show him, Embry! We're a Wilde wolf not some Wilde Chosen human whore. It's time to show him that. It's time for you to trust your instincts. The Goddess blessed you with me for a reason. Trust in me,"
She's right. I need to trust in my instincts and from now on I will.
I allow my wolf full control, shifting in mid-air just in time to prevent Gutter from pouncing on top of our human form.
She lands on four paws, gracefully and then turns to face him. Gutter Butter. I swear my wolf names for these vampires are epic.
"So, you are Wilde Wolf," hisses Gutter Butter, while sizing us up.
My wolf releases a vicious growl and rams directly into his frame quicker than one can blink. It's obvious that Gutter wasn't expecting us to attack without a word.
"That's these vampires' problems. They all talk too much," my wolf growls inside my head, and before the Gutter can retaliate. She leaps on top of him, wasting no time to sinks our claws deep into his skin.
I mentally flinch as Gutter's pain-filled growls fill the air. My wolf doesn't care. No! Not at all. She sinks are teeth in the side of his throat, ripping off Gutter's flesh in the process. He screams louder and I swear to Goddess I mentally puke and mentally place my hands over my eyes. I don't like him but I can't watch him die.
I just can't.
"Watch, Embry," growls my wolf, as our teeth sink deep. The metallic, salty taste of Gutter blood fills our mouths. "Do you see how easy this is," she growls louder? "How easily we can turn the highly trained into our prey," she growls louder and then rips another high chuck of his flesh.
I don't respond. I have nothing to say. My wolf has full control it's her choice.
"Wrong! It's our choice," she roars before shifts back into human form, giving me back full control.
I'm now lying on top of an unconscious Gutter naked and drenched in blood. Oh, snap! Oh, snap. Fuck.
Gutter groins underneath me and every single instinct inside my body are telling me to end him before he ends me. Not even a second later, his bright red eyes flip open and a viscous roar escapes his mouth.
"Now Embry," growls my wolf. So I do the logical thing. I snap his neck, putting him to sleep.
"Problem solved," I tell my wolf, as I make my way to my feet.
"Problem solved," she howls in agreement and then shift's back into her form to take off running.
I swear we haven't had this much fun in a long while. She has been diving in and out of the snow like how I pup would do on the first day of winter and has been chasing down any prey whenever she sees feels like it.
Our first encounter was with a deer. She stalked it down and then allowed me to shift in mid-air to ride it like a pony. Now, I know that sounds strange and almost unbelievable but it's true. Most wolves hunt's for food or sport but I and my wolf only hunt to play. I never could stomach the fact of killing an animal myself and my wolf never had to hunt for survival. So, she's okay with it.
This is why we used to get along so well. We use to understanding one another into he came into our life. Our mate.
Speaking of which, surprisingly enough he hasn't hunted us down yet. So, I believe it's safe to say that he doesn't know that we have left.
Well, technically we haven't. We are only a couple of miles or so away from the estate but everyone knows how dramatic my mate can be. He would lose his mind if he knew that we were in the forest roaming free. Cyrus is content with placing us in chains.
I told my wolf that I would be okay with her taking off. We had more than enough time to make our sweet escape, but she downright refused.
My wolf simply responded with a growl and said, "We're not going anywhere into us even the score," whatever the hell that's supposed to mean.
To be honest, I don't even care. I'm just glad that we are back on good turns I miss her.
Anyway, we haven't run into any other vampires so far and Gutter Butter is still knocked out cold, thanks to teamwork from my wolf and me. She pulled his unconscious body out of the forest pathway with our teeth, licked his body clean, and then I tied him to the tree with some ropes that we found in an abandoned cabin not too far from here. We check up on him every 30 minutes or so and if he makes a single sound I simply just snap his neck with no remorse.
It's better than killing him and it also serves him right for being a jerk. Tonight has really been eventful.
This is exactly what I need.
The cotton candy pink and orchard light of dawn slowly rises on the horizon.
The captivating shades blend together perfectly in the early morning sky, leaving its own paint stain along the middle of the water. I have never seen the clouds reflect this beautifully among a lake.
I have a perfect view of the mountain from right here. I don't know exactly where which state or city but this place really does have many different scenarios with breathtaking views. It's very refreshing. The calming sound of the wind moving the water of the lake around sounds soothing to me. IÂ release a blissful sigh as the chilling wind picks up and blows throughout my hair. My wolf must have shifted back into our human form throughout the middle of the night.
She just loves being nude... "Our asshole of a mate is trying to contact you again," sleepy growls my wolf inside my head.
"Again," I don't remember him trying to contact me in the first place. Hold up! He can contact me.
"Of course he can, silly human," my wolf answers my unspoken questions. "You and his monster have accepted our bond. So, of course, the two of you can communicate,"
"But we're not mated," so technically we shouldn't be able to.
"We don't have to be mated or claimed, Embry. Our supposed to be mate and ourselves are extremely powerful. So a lot of those weaklings' rules don't apply to us," she explains as if it's that obvious.
"It is that obvious," she growls. "You have no idea how powerful we really are because you refuse to accept our true nature,"
"I've accepted our true nature," I argue, picking myself up from the riverbank floor.
"No you haven't," she argues back. "Trust me, darling, once you realize who we are and what we can do. I'll be the one praying to the Goddess to spare anyone who tries to hurt you,"
"What is that supposed to mean,"
"He is coming," she warns me when the wind blows in the delicious smell of mulberry spice.
He's here.
