Hotel? Brandon thought. Of course. That is where Sarra was. They had her holed up in a hotel, probably with a dozen guard dogs surrounding her.
And one of those dogs was a lot closer than the others. Fuller. Brandon could hardly believe it. Brian Fuller. Brandon had seen him interviewed years ago after Gloria michael's was found. Deep voice, heavy shoulders, long screw you strides. Brandon laughed at him when Anthony Russel confessed to Gloria's murder, laughed even harder when Russel escaped and Fuller chased him down a second time.
He wasn't laughing now. Brian Fuller was back and staying at the hotel with Sarra. The rage was so intense he trembled through it, the thought of Sarra receiving comfort nearly driven him mad. She should be suffering, not cuddling with some cocky bastard like Fuller.
A door opened a few feet away. Brandon listened, the air around him closing in. She was there the impostor. He could feel her, almost see her, as she stood in Sarra's workshop. He had held his breath, waiting, and she finally went back upstairs.
Brandon blew out a breath. He had to get out of there, Tonight, when things are quiet again. He would have his chance. Catch the impostor sleeping, then move. Once out he could get things going again, but he had to be careful. Chadborne couldn't help him anymore.
But there was someone else who could, Another old woman. A woman named Paisley Floyd who drove a Lexus and lived all alone on a quiet street called Seminole Ave. He had chosen her on his first night in Panama city, before he holed up in Sarra's. Paisly is just waiting to help him out.
She didn't know it yet.
So hold on until tonight, get Lexi , then get the hell out of there. Paisley would give him a cover until he made his next move.
