Brandon lay on Sarra's bed feeling her and smelling her, sliding into dreams where she cried in desperation and screamed in pain. pleading for him to stop yet knowing he wouldn't not until he milked every whimper and gasp and shriek from her body. He woke up and try to go back to sleep, but sunlight steamed through the blinds. He couldn't make it work.
Morning. and where was Sarra? Gone, he thought. Probably at a friends or at a motel. Maybe under lock and key. It all depended on how quickly she decided to spill her guts to the cops, and how much of the truth she decided to tell. He rolled off the bed and slipped to the window. parting the blinds a mere fracture of an inch. Yep half way down the block a gray sedan now a cop car.
So they were waiting for him. He grinned a little remembering the conversation of the two cops he had over heard last night. they speculated a setup, a decoy to lure Brandon to Sarra.
Brandon didn't know how likely that was, But Sarra hasn't come back to her house. Maybe they were planning on setting him up.
He liked that idea, It made him feel important. But he had to be ready. A little altercation in his plan.
He smoothed the bed covers making sure everything looked as it had when he had arrived. He stayed low and went downstairs.helped himself to a bagel., then he began looking at Sarra's paper work. The logical drawers were filled with opened mail and bills. He dug around came up with a phone bill..Com cast. Dug some more to see who provided her Internet service com cast.
okay.
Down to the basement Brandon had spent the night here to be safe. Sarra's computer was surrounded by books and magazines and Internet print outs that all appeared to be about the dolls. the dolls themselves Brandon found packed in two boxes, they had arrived in. but Sarra had tied a little tag around each one's wrist, like a coroner might on a toe.
He enjoyed that thought,
He settled down in front of Sarra's computer and logged on. Even if the police were tapping her phone line and Brandon doubted they got that far yet they wouldn't detect Internet use.The only worry he had was a unexpected visitor.
Her server came up, and he spent a few Min's. reading headlines. The woman out west were picking up some press. But Brandon wasn't the star yet, By noon if Sarra had talked he would be the headline.
He got into Sarra's web history skimming through several sites she had visited. A strange thrill tightened in his skin at the thought of tracing her Internet footsteps.Of course he couldn't read her emails thought a password, but then again, he didn't want to he was just interested what she had learned about him.
Three quarters of the way through her history a hit..Brandon James.
A wave of pleasure ran through him.Brandon smiled as the criminal websites came up, all referring to him.Prison release dates, court documents sheriffs reports and news paper articles.Three dozen stories about the overturned court cases out of Seattle DA's office.
He chuckled. thought about reading them but forced himself to move on, If the cops were planning to set up some sort of sting at Sarra's house he shouldn't be found here sitting at her computer. He got up and looked through the blinds. The cop car hadn't moved.
He went back to the computer he typed in Kerry waters. The web site came up linking to information about his store his private collection and the Internet sales. In the left hand corner Brandon clicked on Toys and Dolls. then when to pictures of dolls similar to the ones on Sarra's desk. He spent fifteen Min's, sifting through them until he was certain he found the one he wanted.
Brandon checked the price 6000 shipping to have it delivered on Monday afternoon. added forty dollars and twenty two cents.
Brandon leaned back thinking it through, he had plenty of money these days but not the kind you can just send over the Internet for a doll. He needed a credit card ID.
He needed Debbie Chad worth..
No problem their him and Debbie was tight. she would do anyth--
He stopped. a sound. He darted to the window The cop on duty was out of his car and walking toward the house. Brandon's heart stammered.then the cop veered over to the car that had just pulled up a black maxima, The driver got out and closed the distance between them..A tall man in a suit with big shoulders. He seemed like he recognized him but he didn't know why and he couldn't get a clear look. They spoke for a few Min's. then the cop went to his car and came back with a box. Brandon recognized that for sure.He held his breath as the man put it in the trunk of the Maxima. But instead of driving away he walked toward Sarra's driveway, the big guy tossed a key into his hand.
Brandon freaked. shit shit shit. He started to hide then remembered the computer then went over and clicked on the shut down four maybe five times.. stop it, he said to himself. The last thing you need to do is freeze the stupid screen. wait he sneaked a peak from the window. they were in the driveway.
Click.. The screen went black.
Fight or flight Brandon thought
He chose flight..
