Chapter 7: The Unexpected Encounter

The door creaked as it swung open, the sound echoing in the quiet, misty air outside. The team hesitated for a moment, their gear weighing heavily in their hands, before stepping inside. What greeted them was not the dilapidated ruin they had anticipated, but a home that seemed to defy time itself.

The house was a seamless blend of the old and new, a coexistence of eras that felt almost impossible. The polished hardwood floors gleamed like liquid amber under the soft, golden light of intricately designed lamps. Walls adorned with abstract modern art hung alongside antique Spanish colonial crosses and intricate wooden carvings, each detail exuding a sense of care and purpose. The faint scent of sandalwood lingered in the air, warm and inviting, yet carrying an undercurrent of something ancient and indefinable.

Shane set his bag down with a thud, breaking the silence. "Uh... what?" His eyes darted from the elegant furniture to the modern, minimalist decor. "Where are the cobwebs? The creepy dolls? The, I don't know, unsettling taxidermy?" He gestured broadly around the room, baffled.

Ryan chuckled nervously, stepping further inside. "Yeah, this is... not what I was expecting. It's almost too perfect."

Steven trailed behind, his own camera in hand, his gaze sharp and searching. "It's like someone lives here. But how could they? Out here, in the middle of nowhere?"

As their initial shock subsided, more details came into focus. Amid the elegant vintage decor were modern touches that seemed oddly out of place yet perfectly natural. A sleek Smart TV was mounted on one wall, its glossy black surface a stark contrast to the antique carvings beside it. Near the corner, a high-end speaker system rested on a minimalist stand, and just behind a wooden screen, the glow of a Wi-Fi router pulsed gently, the unmistakable sign of a strong connection.

"Okay, hold on," Shane said, pointing at the setup. "Is that a-wait, no way-that's a 5G router, isn't it?"

Ryan blinked, leaning closer. "It is," he said, his tone incredulous. "And that's a... is that a Dyson air purifier over there?"

"And look," Anna, member from the crew added, zooming her camera toward the kitchen. "A modern fridge, induction stove, and... a freaking espresso machine?"

Shane ran a hand through his hair, bewildered. "This place is like... HGTV meets ancient myth. Who is this person?"

Before anyone could answer, the soft clink of porcelain drew their attention. A figure entered from a side room, the faint sound of footsteps barely preceding her arrival. She carried a silver tray with a small tea set and a plate of biscuits.

The mystery woman stepped out from the kitchen, still wearing that soft, cream-colored knee-length dress with intricate floral embroidery, complemented by a light pastel cardigan.

She was striking, her presence commanding yet strangely calming, upon getting a closer look, they finally saw most of her appearance. Her face, a masterpiece of gentle elegance, with soft, rounded cheeks that frame her delicate heart-shaped visage. Her almond-shaped light brown eyes, deep and expressive, are framed by long, dark lashes, radiating warmth and quiet mystery. A small, delicate nose sits above full lips that curve naturally into a serene and inviting smile, carrying an air of both grace and subtle mischief. Her hair cascades in long, flowing waves, rich and dark like the night sky, with hints of chestnut gleaming in the light. Wisps of soft bangs frame her face, while intricate braids weave through her locks like a crown, adding a touch of ethereal sophistication to her timeless beauty.

"Tea and biscuits?" she asked, her voice light and melodic, as though the words themselves carried a hidden invitation. She set the tray down on a small mahogany table, her movements graceful, almost rehearsed in their perfection.

Shane's hand shot up instinctively. "Uh, yes, please. Don't mind if I do." He stepped forward, eager to help himself, but paused when he caught Ryan's warning glance.

The woman smiled, a knowing curve of her lips that seemed to deepen the mystery surrounding her. "Please," she said, gesturing to the chairs around the table. "Make yourselves comfortable. You've come a long way."

Ryan hesitated, his eyes studying her face. There was something hauntingly familiar about her, as if he'd seen her before-perhaps in a dream, or a fleeting thought. The curve of her jaw, the gentle arch of her brows, the way her dark lashes framed her eyes-it all felt like a memory just out of reach.

"Thank you," Ryan managed, his voice barely above a whisper. He sat down, his pulse quickening.

The team followed suit, their earlier nervousness replaced by a strange calm. Josh, from the camera crew positioned his camera discreetly, capturing the surreal tableau before her.. Producer Steven Lim sat rigidly, his fingers drumming against his knee as if bracing for the inevitable.

The woman poured the tea with practiced ease, the delicate clink of porcelain filling the silence. "So," she said, her eyes meeting Steven's. "What brings you here?"

Steven cleared his throat, his voice faltering at first. "We... uh, we've heard stories. About this place. About... someone who's lived here for a very long time."

The woman's smile widened, but her eyes held an edge of amusement. "Stories," she repeated softly. "They have a way of taking on a life of their own, don't they?" She handed him a teacup, her movements deliberate. "And what do these stories say?"

Ryan leaned forward, unable to suppress his curiosity. "They say there's a goddess here. Someone who's been here for centuries, watching over the land."

At this, her smile turned playful, almost mischievous. She picked up her own cup and took a sip, her gaze never leaving his. "A goddess?" she echoed, her voice tinged with mock surprise. "That's quite the tale."

Ryan swallowed hard, his instincts screaming that they were standing on the edge of something monumental. "Are you...?" He hesitated, searching for the right words. "Are you Luna?"

For a moment, the air seemed to still, the warmth of the room giving way to a subtle, electric tension. The woman set her cup down, her fingers brushing the rim as she regarded him.

"Luna," she said softly, as if testing the name on her tongue. Her eyes sparkled with something unspoken, an emotion too complex to name. "Yes. That's what they call me."

Shane let out a low whistle, breaking the spell. "Wait, you're serious? You're the Luna? Like, goddess of the moon, mythical protector, all that jazz?"

Luna tilted her head, her smile widening. "I suppose you could say that." Her tone was light, but there was a gravity to her words that made Shane fall silent.

Anna finally spoke, her voice tinged with disbelief. "But how? I mean, why here? Why now?"

Luna's gaze shifted to her, her expression softening. "Not everything is meant to be understood, Anna," she said gently. "Some things are simply meant to be."

The room fell silent again, the weight of her words settling over them like a heavy, velvet curtain.

Ryan, his mind racing, leaned forward. "So... the stories are true? You're real?"

Luna chuckled softly, the sound like the first notes of a lullaby. "The stories are as real as the people who tell them," she said cryptically. "But yes, I'm here. And now, so are you."

As the team sat there, their questions bubbling to the surface, Luna leaned back in her chair, her eyes alight with mischief. "But tell me," she said, her voice playful. "Now that you've found me, what will you do?"

The cameras continued to roll, capturing every moment of this surreal encounter. Ryan glanced at the lens, his expression a mix of awe and determination. "I think," he said slowly, "we're just beginning to understand what we've stumbled into."

Luna's smile widened, her eyes twinkling with a knowing light. "Good," she said simply. "Then let's see where it takes you."

And with that, the air in the room seemed to shift, the warmth returning, but the mystery deepening. The team exchanged glances, their earlier apprehension replaced by a shared, unspoken understanding: this was only the beginning.
