"saylor wake up," i heard as i slowly opened my eyes. "wake up baby."

i opened my eyes and all i could see were people hovering over me, including my parents.

"alright give the girl some space," coach told everyone.

"are you okay?" harley asked me. "you passed out right after your performance."

"which is why i ordered for you to not perform and you did it anyway," the doctor said.

"okay wait don't fuss at her right now," billie defended me.

"she could've caused more internal damage," the doctor stated.

"okay sorry sorry but i have no regrets," i shrugged as i sat up. "i gave it my all and that's that."

"well next time can you not scare us to death," coach lightly hit my shoulder. "again!"

"it's what i do best," i joked.

"well ms. monroe," the doctor started. "i have to run some more tests before i release you again."

"i figured," i sighed.

the doctor took me to another room and ran tests on me while my loved ones went back to the stands.

everything came out okay, i just have a severe concussion and need to take shit easy. oh, and my body is very very drained and exhausted.

and so am i.

-

it was finally time to announce scores and i couldn't be more terrified.

we were all out there, shaking in our boots as we waited for them to announce the winners of each category. and when it was time for my division, i felt like i was going to throw up.

"ladies and gentlemen," the announcer began. "we now have the final results for the women's division in figure skating."

i began tapping my foot quickly, my anxiety shooting through the roof.

"in third place, and the winner of the bronze medal, with a total score of 255.12, representing sweden, maria nilsonn! well done!"

the crowd cheered and she went and took her place up front, waiting for the rest of the scores.

"in second place, and the winner of the silver medal, with a total score of 271.89, representing france, colette aubert! well done!"

the girl went and stood on the podium as well, being awarded her medal

"oh my god, oh my god, oh my god," i mumbled to myself, my heart now pounding out of control.

"and in first place, the gold medalist and olympic champion, with a record breaking score of 310.76," he started.

"no fucking way," i mumbled.

everyone in the crowd gasped, and every team stood on the sidelines shocked as ever, waiting to see who could have possibly broken the world record.

"representing the usa, saylor monroe! congratulations on your incredible performance!"

my eyes shot wide. there was no way, i couldn't believe it. i was in such a state of shock that coach had to slightly push me to go up to the podium.

i went up there and was rewarded my gold medal. tears formed in my eyes immediately as i smiled from ear to ear.

"congratulations to all of our medalists! let's give them another round of applause for their outstanding performances in today's competition!"

the crowd cheered more and i hugged the other girls. we then had to get our pictures taken and each of us had to do a mini interview.

after all that was done, i ran immediately into harley's arms. "thank you thank you!"

"that medal had your name on it from the jump saylor," she teared up. "you earned it."

i smiled before also giving billie the biggest hug. "you now hold the highest fucking record in this shit saylor! im so fucking proud of you!"

i just cheesed big.

-

"this is so cool!" harley shook me in excitement as we were about to head back to the locker rooms. "i can't wait for the parade tomorrow during the closing ceremony."

"me toooo," i laughed. "should i do a pageant wave?" i joked.

"no way," harley giggled. "you should definitely do a-"

"excuse me!" someone called out as they ran up to us. it was a member of the staff. "i heard you talking about the closing ceremony. you are close with singer, billie eilish, right?"

"um yeah," i squinted before i looked behind me to billie who was talking to my parents. "b!" i yelled, getting her attention and having her come to me.

"hi ma'am," the man said to her. "i know this is really late notice and informal but our artist who was supposed to sing at tomorrow's event is sick and cannot do it," he continued. "is there a chance that you would be interested in performing?"

"tomorrow?" billie rose her eyebrows in shock. "like- live?"

"if it is too much then i completely understand," he nodded. "we just know the entire world loves you and-"

"not the entire world," she mumbled. "um hold on let me think really quick," she said before turning to me.

she looked at me with nervousness in her eyes.

"what's wrong?" i looked in concern.

"i can't do that," she shook her head.

"what? why?" i asked.

"its so last minute," she said. "i'd have to ask my team and finneas and-"

"so ask them," i shrugged. "unless you genuinely just don't want to."

"no i do but-" she paused and then sighed. "fuck it."

she pulled out her phone and began calling finneas who was actually in the audience with her parents. she stepped away to talk to them about the whole situation.

-

later that night..

"i can't believe im doing this," she shook her head as we sat in finneas' studio.

"are you nervous?" i chuckled.

"im not nervous but this is the olympics," she started. "whole world is watching for real for real."

"true," i nodded.

"and i still can't even figure out what songs to sing," she rolled her eyes. "like im tired of performing What Was I Made For."

"crown?" i asked.

billie just looked at me.

"okay my bad," i laughed.

"ughhhh," she groaned loudly.

"what abouttttt that one you wrote about me?" i suggested.

"which one?" she chuckled.

"birds of a feather," i answered.

billie squinted. "that's not even out yet."

"so this would be a great time to do a preview of new music," finneas chimed in. "that's not a bad idea."

"it's really not," b looked up in thought.

"we have to get permission from the label but i think that's a fire idea saylor," finneas high fived me.

"wow i had a good idea for once," i smiled.

"okay so what about the second song?" billie asked. "they want me to sing two."

"should we just pull out another unreleased song?" finneas asked.

"i don't mind," billie shrugged. "but which? lunch?"

"nahhh not for the olympics," he shook his head.

"wildflower?" she asked.

"too sad," we shook our heads no.

"hmm," she leaned back in thought. "saylor, what if i sung The Greatest?"

"The Greatest?" i furrowed my eyebrows. "um-"

"i know it's personal but i think it'd be a great representation of how far you've come."

so billie wrote a couple songs about me while we've been together. one of them being Birds of a Feather, and one of them also being The Greatest.

however, she wrote The Greatest on behalf of paige and i's relationship. but it wasn't written until after paige's death.

billie and i wrote it from my perspective as i sat down with her and expressed my feelings and everything. it was very hard but we felt like it needed to be done.

if you really pay attention to the lyrics, it's easy to see.

-

the next day..

"wait so both songs she's performing are about you?" harley asked me as we were at the closing ceremony.

"yup," i smiled. "she said she wanted her performance to be dedicated to me."

"oh my god," harley squealed. "you two are the cutest fucking ever, i cannot."

"i know i know," i cheesed. "i love her ass so much. i just want her to fucking marry me already."

"oh i can 1000% picture the wedding," she chuckled. "like it needs to happen soon."

"im sure it will but we have to get through tour first," i laughed.

-

it was time for billie to hit the stage and i had the biggest smile on my face, being happier than ever to see my girl up there.

during Birds of a Feather, she'd look at me in the crowd every once in awhile and wink while she sang, making me blush.

when it came time for The Greatest, it kind of made me emotional being that it was the first time i heard her sing it live with an audience. especially since no one knew the depth behind it.

after her performances, the crowd cheered and billie took a bow, along with finneas. she looked at me in the audience and gestured for me to come up there.

harley slightly pushed me to go, and i ran up on the dock, giving billie the biggest hug. she squeezed me tight and the crowd cheered ever more.

"i love you," i said in during our hug.

"i love you more."

- - -

so yes, i won the olympic gold medal in my division and i could not be happier. despite everything that happened that day, it ended up being one of the happiest days of my life.

i've been getting so much praise and recognition on the internet and from just everyone everywhere.

setting a world record feels pretty good.

oh.. and if you think i didn't send quinn's ass to jail, then you're crazy.

but i've also been spending a lot of time with my family to make up for all those years lost.

anyway, billie and i are doing great. the second leg of her tour got postponed after her car accident with paige, so it's going to be resuming soon and guess who's going with her? :)

yeah, life is good.

- months later -

"what do you think? like right here?" i held up my medal on a wall in our house.

"how about we get you a glass case?" she chuckled. "to put all your awards in there?"

"and put it where?"

"next to mine," i shrugged. "we can have our own displays of our achievements showcased in our living room," she smiled.

"aw that'd be so cuteeee," i dragged. "okay yeah let's do that."

"okay great cause i know you have many more medals to come," she added, making me blush.

"why are you literally the most perfect person alive?" i asked her as i wrapped my arms around her shoulders.

"far far far from that," she chuckled as she wrapped hers around my waist.

i pecked her lips a couple of times. "well you're perfect for me."

"am i?" she rose her eyebrows.

"you really questioning?" i playfully squinted.

billie just blushed. "nope," she said before picking me up, having my legs wrap around her waist.

she walked us out to the patio and sat me down in a chair before sitting down next to me.

"ya know," i looked at her. "i deadass don't know what life would be like if i hadn't met you."

"really?" she looked at me.

i titled my head. "billie, i'd probably be dead."

"hey don't say that," she shook her head. "you'd just be married to a complete asshole, that's it."

we both laughed and sighed.

"im really grateful for you though," i looked at her. "you make life worth living."

"you think so?" she asked me. "even when it's sooo shitty?"

i just shrugged. "i don't care how shitty it gets."

"no?" she rose her eyebrows.

i shook my head. "whenever my world falls apart, i still have you."

she grabbed my hand and held it.

"and you will always have me," she smiled. "it's just me and you."

"til the end."

- the end -
