"so you really kicked her leg in and broke it?" harley laughed.
"yes," i laughed. "and i should've done that shit a long time ago."
"well are you okay though?" she looked at me. "i know her sentence is unfair as fuck."
"very," i shook my head. "but all i can do is move on. when she gets out, hopefully she'll just go back to palm springs and forget about me."
"yeah," she nodded. "well how are you and billie?"
"good," i nodded. "she has so many award shows coming up for the barbie song."
"didn't you help her write that?" she asked.
"yeah," i nodded. "which is why she's bringing me to all of them."
"she'd bring your ass anyway," harley laughed. "you don't think people will be skeptical of you two?"
"i mean she takes her friends to these events with her all the time," i shrugged. "so no. but even if, i really wouldn't fucking care."
"good," she said. "and i wish you would've fucking told me you were trying to get on the LA figure skating team. i would've been helped out."
"wait what do you mean?" i furrowed my eyebrows.
"billie asked me to talk to coach for you," harley said.
"oh my god," i shook my head. "i told her not to bother with that."
"well she did," harley said. "and i talked to coach. and she's willing to let you try out."
"wait what?!" i exclaimed.
"yeah she wants you to contact her to set up a date for you to go have a private try out," she grinned.
"shut the fuck up!" i cheered in excitement. "oh my god harley thank you!" i hugged her.
"of course," she smiled.
-
"i won't have time b," i panicked. "i- i can't."
"yes you dooo," billie dragged in a laugh. "it'll be fine. just go audition in front of coach mickie and then come back to start getting ready for the grammys."
i just sighed.
"look," she started. "you can't miss try outs. you can't and you won't."
"im just so nervous," i shook my head. "i haven't skated in months."
"you're comparing not skating for like 2 months to your years of training," b rubbed my shoulders. "stop overthinking it."
"you're right," i took a deep breath.
"you'll do great," she smiled. "and when you're done, glam will be here waiting on you."
"okay," i smiled. "thanks baby."
"yeah," she kissed me.
so yeah it's been a week and today is the day of the grammys which billie is nominated for of course for the barbie song.
but unfortunately, coach mickie said her only available day for me was this day so im gonna try out for her really quickly and rush back to get ready for the show today.
i grabbed my stuff and headed to the rink. once i got there, i geared up and began practicing as i waited for the coach to get there.
i made sure to stretch and try to hit all tricks that i could think of. time was steady passing by and i just continued to skate and skate, hitting every trick.
i was going in for an axel jump, but i don't know what happened. i fell as i tried to land it. i slid on the ice and laid flat on my back in defeat.
"fuck," i breathed heavily.
"try again," a voice said calmly, scaring the shit out of me.
i quickly rose up to see a lady in the distance. it was coach mickie.
"oh my god," i quickly got up. "um hi. um im saylor monroe-"
"i know who you are," she nodded.
"oh," i looked down. "um how long have you been right there-"
"a long time," she said. "it's important to me to see how people perform when no one is watching, rather than when they're in front of someone, nervous as ever."
"right," i nervously chuckled.
"you're good," she started. "really good."
i smiled.
"and when harley recommended you, i looked up your highlights from the palm springs team," she continued. "very impressive."
"thank you," i nodded.
"but there's always room for improvement," she added.
"o- of course," i agreed.
"so id like to start on your training right now," she said.
"wait- now?" i rose my eyebrows.
"you wanna be on this team right?" she tilted her head. "i need to see more."
"u- um-"
"is there a problem?" she furrowed her eyebrows.
"um no," i shook my head. "not at all."
"okay good," she smiled. "let's get started."
"okay," i said lowly, immediately feeling stressed out.
i skated over to my duffle bag that i had on the side and kneeled down to it. i pulled out my phone and called billie.
"we made the team?" she eagerly asked as she answered the phone.
"um not sure yet," i started. "but she wants to train with me like right now."
"damn now?" she asked. "she can't wait til tomorrow?"
"unfortunately not," i said lowly. "im sorry baby."
i could hear billie let out a huge sigh over the phone. "it's okay," she said in a not so happy tone. "i'll just tell zoey to get ready really quick," she chuckled.
"okay im so so sorry," i said again.
"hush," she said. "it's not your fault, go ahead. do great. you'll still be able to make my after party."
"yeah of course. i love you," i smiled.
"i love you more," she rasped before hanging up.
i put my phone away and stood up, trying to prepare myself for what's to come.
-Â billie's pov -
"you okay?" zoe asked me.
"yeah," i nodded. "at least this way, people won't be suspicious with seeing multiple photos of her and i everywhere together."
"that's true," she nodded.
"honestly im just nervous for her," i sighed. "i really hope she gets in."
"im sure she will," zoe assured me. "she's built for that shit."
-
we made it to the grammys and i immediately went to the red carpet. i did what i do, taking pictures and what not and continued on.
as we continued walking through, i was speaking to numerous people who wanted pictures and everything like that.
"hi billie! hi billie!" is all i heard.
i finally made it around the corner, away from fans and press... but into someone else.
"oh hi," quinn started with a smile. "miss popular."
she was in this long red beautiful gown.
my eyes slightly got wide. "wh- what are you doing here?"
"working. im a production assistant," she grinned. "im usually behind the scenes and not roaming around like this but maybe i should more often," she elevator eyed me.
i just scoffed as i shook my head.
"anyway," she started. "it's nice to see you since you ghosted me."
i rolled my eyes. "look, im sorry but-"
"oh you don't have to explain anything to me," she put her finger up. "i know you did it for saylor."
i furrowed my eyebrows.
"i've seen the pictures of you too from paparazzi," quinn squinted. "it's so clear that you guys are dating."
"alright," i sighed. "fine, yeah."
"you could've just said that," she glared at me.
i tilted my head. "something tells me you wouldn't have cared."
"that may or may not be true," she chuckled.
i playfully squinted, she's funny.
then zoe thumped my arm.
"oh right," i looked down. "i need to go."
"good luck on winning tonight," quinn smirked.
"thanks," i awkwardly grinned.
zoe and i walked away and she looked at me and said "she's so pick me."
i just laughed.
the award show went on and i performed what was i made for. everyone loved it and it felt good to do. the song also won for "the best song written for visual media" and "song of the year."
finneas and i were over the moon, i just wish saylor could've been here to see since she helped write the song.
once the show was over, i was sitting on the floor in the hallway backstage and zoe took this picture of me.
i sent the picture to saylor with the message "guess whaaaaaaaaaat"
but she didn't reply to me within a couple minutes which let me know that she was still at the rink with the coach.
-
after awhile, we were leaving the show and i got in the suv that was out waiting for us and i called saylor.
"hi miss 9 time grammy winner," she answered the phone.
"oh my god babe im so happy!" i cheered as i put the phone on speaker. "this is means everything!"
"im so happy for you b, you literally deserve it," she told me. "you and finneas. i had no doubts."
"literally would not have this without you," i told her. "so thank you."
"aw you're sweet," she said.
"so??" i asked. "good news? bad news?"
"oh yeah," she started. "we made the team."
"ahhhhhh!" i cheered. "congrats baby! fuck, this night can't get any better. i can't wait to see you at the party."
"about that... baby," saylor hesitated.
"saylor don't piss me off," i tilted my head, take the phone off speaker and putting it to my ear.
"billie if you knew the type of shit coach made my body undergo tonight," she chuckled. "she pushed me so hard. im exhausted and i can barely fucking walk. im sorry, the party's just not looking too hot for me right now."
it was upsetting to hear but i understand. any sport takes lots of training but figure skating is not only footwork, but flexibility and technique. im sure it was a lot.
"i totally get it babe," i assured saylor.
"so you're not mad?" she asked.
"of course not," i said. "yeah i want you here but at least i get to come home to you and hold you all night."
she giggled. "yeah that sounds nice."
"so you made it home safely?" i asked.
"yup and im so tired so im probably gonna just pass out sleep," she told me. "you go have fun."
"okay my love," i said lowly. "i'll see you soon."
"okay baby," she said softly. "bye."
-
i made it to my party and the scene was perfect. it was so fucking cute as it had hints of barbie themes throughout.
people started to show up and drinks were quickly rolling out. the music was blaring, everyone was having a great time.
"billie cmon let's go to the photo booth!" one of my friends exclaimed.
i was taking photos with literally everyone as i was now more on the tipsy side.
"oh my god!" i laughed as i bumped into someone. "oh fuck, my bad."
"it's okay," a blonde girl giggled.
that blonde girl being the one i can't seem to escape.
my eyes got slightly wide. "wha- quinn? what're you- who-" i sighed. "never mind."
i gave up. parties like this aren't that hard to get into if you come with the right crowd, and clearly this girl has her connects.
"missed me?" she cheesed.
i couldn't help but but to chuckle. "what is your deal, huh?"
"what do you mean?" she playfully put her hand over her chest like she was offended.
"why do i keep running into you?" i rose my eyebrows.
"don't ask me," quinn started. "it must be a sign from the universe."
"nah it's just a sign that you heard about my party," i chuckled.
"of course i heard about it," she shrugged. "but someone asked if i wanted to come with them. don't think im out here chasing you down."
"that's what it seems like," i mumbled.
"what was that?" she rose her eyebrows.
"nothing," i quickly shook my head and started to walk off. "but hey, it's whatever. just have a good time-"
"uh where's saylor?" she put her hand on my shoulder to stop me.
"um," i started. "she had something important to do."
"more important than her girlfriend's grammy night?" quinn rose her eyebrows. "that's weird."
"this conversation is weird," i said to her. "trust me, she's working on her own career. if not, she'd be here."
"mmm okay eilish," she smirked.
i just furrowed my eyebrows.
"fix your face," she pushed my shoulder. "cmon, let's take a shot."
she then pulled me by my arm over to the bar and ordered us the strongest shots on the menu.
we took about 3 tbh.
don't kill me...
but i was definitely drunk now and having even more of a blast.
there were some points when i noticed that quinn was kinda all over me but i'd slightly move whenever i realized. my friends were all over me too so she didn't stand out.
- saylor's pov -
i was woken by the sound of a loud thud. i rose up in fright and tapped my phone to see that the time was 3:37am.
"billie?" i said aloud.
"im coming!" she yelled in laughter. "i just forgot to turn the lights on when i walked in so i fell," she said as she entered the bedroom. "stupid gravity."
"you're drunk?" i asked as i tried holding in my laugh.
"how'd you know?" she tilted her head.
i laughed as i shook my head. "come here baby," i opened my arms for her.
she immediately came and laid in them. "sorry for waking you."
"it's fine," i ran my fingers through her hair. "im assuming the party was a success?" i asked as i pulled the cash out that she had stuffed in her boobs.
"very," she nodded with her eyes closed.
"good," i kissed her forehead. "i can't wait to hear about it tomorrow morning when you're not giggling every 10 seconds."
she giggled again. "don't you wanna fuck?"
i laughed. "ask me again in 24 hours," i kissed her.
-
it's the next morning and i woke up to billie drooling on my chest, where her head was laying. i smiled as i ran my fingers through her messy ass hair.
i then got on my phone and started scrolling through instagram, seeing everyone post pictures last night from her party.
meanwhile, her phone started ringing.
"is that mom?" she asked me, her eyes still closed.
"yeah," i told her. "want me to answer?"
"yeah, tell her im alive."
i chuckled as i answered the phone and talked to maggie for a couple of minutes. once we were done, i hung up the call but billie's phone continued to buzz with messages from people telling her how good of a party she threw and congratulations.
then one popped up from quinn.
"had so much fun with you last night, xo."
i furrowed my eyebrows. "hey b," i said.
"hmm?" she hummed.
"who all was at your party?" i asked.
"everybody and they mama," she said.
"quinn too?"
her eyes opened. "why do you ask?"
"cause she posted that you guys made out," i lied.
"what?!" she quickly rose up and snatched her phone to look at it. "oh," she looked at me as she realized i was lying.
"you let her come to your party?" i rose my eyebrows.
"look," she breathed. "she came with some people but she wasn't really around me."
"mhm," i squinted. "but she had fun with you?"
"of course she's gonna say that baby," billie told me. "she's just trying really hard."
"billie," i sighed. "she's no good, im telling you."
"and i don't want her anyway so it doesn't matter," she assured me. "now cmon, im starving."
