𝐽𝑂𝐿𝐸𝑁𝐸 𝐻𝐴𝑆 𝐴𝐿𝑊𝐴𝑌𝑆 𝐵𝐸𝐸𝑁 athletic. She loves kickboxing and baseball, but it was lacrosse that took over Beacon Hills. Coach Finstock always appreciated Jolene's enthusiasm for the game. Even if she doesn't play, everyone knows she's there. Coach does, however, despise when she would criticise his coaching ability. She's far too competitive.

Allison, Lydia, and Jolene all sat down on the bleachers, ready to watch the tryouts as the players began to gather on the field. They recognized a few people -- Jackson and Danny mainly -- but one boy that really caught Jolene's eye was Stiles. He always sat on the bench during lacrosse, yet was somehow still on the team every year. Jolene wished she could see him play, showcase his talent, but she wished to experience many things with Stiles.

Jolene watched as the lacrosse players ran onto the field, beginning to pass back and forth, warming up before the tryouts began. She did notice that Scott and Stiles were still talking at the benches, which she thought was odd, but Stiles' off-beat personality was something she admired.

"So, which lacrosse boy am I going to try and set you up with this year?" Lydia asked her best friend as she linked their arms. Lydia had been trying desperately to get Jolene to see the value in other guys not named Stiles Stilinski. It was bad enough that Stiles clearly had a thing for Lydia, but Jolene too had never had a crush other than he. Lydia didn't think it was healthy.

"None of them." Jolene responded. She really didn't care if Lydia couldn't see everything she saw in Stiles. It hurt that he never looked at her in the same regard, but Jolene would admire him nonetheless. Jolene found his clumsiness adorable, his moles were the most perfect of imperfections, Stiles' fidgeting habits such as biting his highlighters or cracking his knuckles when he's thinking. Stiles Stilinski was the most beautiful person she had ever met. She didn't care if no one else could see it.

"You really have to get over him, Jolene." Lydia was referring to Stiles, but Jolene was quick to rebut, "And you have to get a new boyfriend that doesn't reek of pelican shit."

Allison let out a small laugh, who was on the other side of Jolene, but she slapped her hand over her mouth to hide it. Lydia rolled her eyes at both of them, but over the years, she had gotten used to Jolene's blunt honesty. Lydia wasn't sure if she didn't think before she spoke, didn't know any better, or simply didn't care -- she had concluded it was a mix of all three.

Seeing as how they had added a new girl to their small group, Lydia figured she should fill her in on the history between Jolene and Stiles; the history being that Jolene can't move on from anything. It wasn't as if Jolene hid her crush very well, Lydia caught Jolene staring at him longingly, sometimes she would bring him up out of nowhere, and Jolene would lose all of her natural confidence and ability to speak anytime he was within three feet of him.

"Allison, there is something very important that you need to know if you're going to be our friend. Jolene Dalton here may dress like a prepubescent boy from a really bad horror movie, her hair may be a permanent mess, she's literally the lamest person you will ever meet in your entire life -- like who like Star Trek anymore?"

"Star Wars." Jolene corrected quietly.

Lydia continued, "But she is my best friend and I love her like a sister, we all need to love her. Now, Jolene is very stupid and likes a guy way below her league."

"Which guy?" Allison wondered. Lydia looked out to the field, but didn't see the familiar and constantly talked about face of Stiles Stilinski. Instead, he was facing his friend that was sitting on the bench. Lydia pointed to him, to which Allison nodded her head...not really seeing what Jolene did, but what was new about that?

"He's the epitome of perfect, excuse you." Jolene defended Stiles, referring to the fact Lydia thought him to be below.

Lydia disagreed. "He's not. He's weird. We need to set her up with someone worth her while. So, not him."

Jolene scrunched her nose and looked back to the field. There, she saw everyone on the field, now including Stiles and his friend. Jolene was trying to look away from Stiles and focus on Danny, who she got along with well.

"Who is that?" Allison suddenly asked, nudging Jolene's arm and pointing at the guy in net. Jolene looked in the direction of the clearly reluctant player, to which she shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know, but he's friends with Stiles."

Allison let out a small laugh. "Is he all you think about?"

"No. Sometimes I think about Madonna, or pie, or why zoos always post about penguins and pandas, but never the armadillos. Or the fact that the lines on the road should totally be purple. Or what sick fuck came up with the idea for a platypus. Or Chris Evans with a beard-"

"So, you don't know who he is?" Allison interrupted, not needing to hear every single thought Jolene has ever had in her lifetime.

Jolene didn't quite answer, instead, she had her own curiosity, "Why do you care?"

"He's just in our English class." Allison brushed off and Jolene didn't catch onto the fact that there was a clear connection. Although, Jolene has never been the most observant.

They watched as Jackson took the first shot on net and hit Scott -- Stiles' good friend -- right in the forehead, knocking him backwards onto the ground. The team members, including Coach Finstock, started laughing at him.

Scott quickly got back to his feet and shook himself off, trying to prepare for the next shot, which apparently worked since he caught it with ease. Everyone was a little surprised he was able to do so, even Stiles. He cheered for his friend, which brought a small smile to Jolene's lips, but she quickly tried to contain herself. It wasn't her fault everything Stiles did made her happy.

After the second, third, fourth, fifth, and so-on shots that went were caught by Scott just as easily as the first one. The three girls were quite impressed with what they were seeing.

"He seems like he's pretty good." Allison pointed out, to which Lydia agreed, "Yeah, very good."

"He's definitely on steroids, right?" Jolene wondered with her arm still linked with Lydia's, the ginger nodding in response. "He has to be."

Allison let out a small breath, seeing as how she had full confidence Scott was simply this good, but there was something a little more to this. The way that Scott moved was so fluid, effortless, and slightly familiar, but only to Jolene.

Jolene was thrown into the supernatural deep end and she had to teach herself everything about sirens. During the process, she learned information on all kinds of supernatural creatures and even had some experience. She got to learn first hand that werewolves and sirens generationally do not get along.

Hundreds of years ago, when sirens could only live in water, an alpha werewolf and the queen of sirens fell in love. It was difficult for them to be together, to actually coexist when one was on land and the other in the sea, but they tried their best. It got to the point where the werewolf couldn't take this difficult relationship, so he left the siren in the most inhuman way possible.

This werewolf had fashioned a special kind of whistle that hit a part of the siren's mind and turned her mad. He hoped that she would try to harm him and he could use that as an excuse to leave her. Instead, this siren murdered every other living siren in the oceans, wiping out the species almost entirely.

Derek Hale, a local werewolf, had learned about Jolene and tried to attack her, wanting a siren out of his town. What he hadn't realized was that Jolene learned to harness her powers a lot sooner than most sirens. Not to mention that she was the only living siren around...unless her mother was still alive. Jolene had no clue.

Scott was suddenly put to the ultimate test when Jackson stepped forward, spinning his lacrosse stick in his hand. Everyone on the team knew that Jackson wanted to be captain, everyone knew he very well could succeed. So, it was terrifying when he scooped up the lacrosse ball and eyed down Scott like a predator preparing to take his prey.

Jackson was quick to run right towards the goal. He tossed the ball with all the force he had in his body, but for Scott and his anxiousness, everything seemed to be moving in slow-motion. But still, Scott was able to catch the ball.

Jolene's jaw dropped a little seeing as how she knew Jackson was talented, even if she would never admit to that. Lydia had got to her feet and cheered for the new goalie. Jackson glanced over to his girlfriend, slightly angered that she was cheering for someone other than him, but she only responded with a cocky twitch of her eyebrow and a smirk.

It was shocking enough to everyone that one of Beacon Hills' it girls were cheering for who people considered to be a nobody. Jolene clearly wasn't entertained by anything happening, no matter how shocking or brilliant this all was. She was far too distracted by that small flicker of a theory in her mind.

Only the supernatural can move that quickly.
