Evangeline's POV
I yawned as I slowly stretched on the bed in my room .
Bed? I don't remember going to sleep in my room!
With a jolt, I jumped out of bed, awake and alarmed as the events of yesterday started to replay in my mind.
I had knocked the Phantom of the Opera out with a left hook!
I'm going to see Jesus sooner than planned.
Right then, I started pacing back and forth as I started to think of the many ways Erik could end me if I stepped outside of that room.
But wait a second, Angie. I heard the Voice say, If he wanted to kill you, then who was the one who brought you to your room?
I stopped my pacing as I then noticed an envelope on the nightstand that had a red wax skull on it. It was addressed to me.
I opened the letter and began to read:
Dear Mlle. Evangeline ,
I must offer my deepest, sincerest, and utmost apologies for the abominable way that I have acted and for the way that I had endangered your life. I was ungrateful to your valiant effort to save my life and to nurse me back to health. If it would help me to redeem myself, I request that you meet me in the dining room for breakfast. I wait anxiously for your response.
Your Obedient Servant,
O.G
I let out a huge sigh of relief as I put the letter back into the envelope and got myself dressed.
* A Few Minutes Later *
I wore a pink dress that had a black bow tie in the front (A/N: dress is shown above) that Erik had bought along with the rest of my outfits along with the black boots. As I wandered into the dining room, I stood in awe as I saw a table set with a delicious smelling breakfast and standing behind it, a fully-clothed phantom with a new, white mask that covered every inch of his face, except for his mouth and eyes.
"Bonjour, mademoiselle. I am pleased that you are able to join me for breakfast."
As I began to find a seat, Erik rushed towards my chair and pulled it from under the table.
"Allow me."
As I sat down, he gently pushed the chair in and sat at the other end. I then looked down at the table and saw different types of pastries, fruits, eggs, toast, oatmeal with cinnamon sugar and cream, and bacon along with tea, coffee, milk, butter, and jam.
"Wow. That's a lot of food." I told him, looking at the feast in front of me. He didn't answer. Instead, he watched as I said a small prayer and took a pastry from the table, which was not the slightest bit creepy (note the sarcasm).
As I took a bite, I had to hold back a moan of delight as I tasted delicious, gooey chocolate that was embedded in a warm, flaky croissant. I was tempted to grab another one when I remembered that I didn't thank Erik for making this or even asked him if he ate yet.
"Oh, I am so rude! Here I am about to stuff my face when I didn't even say thank you or offer you anything!" I exclaimed, scolding myself at the same time.
Erik's POV
I was taken aback at my guest's sudden outburst. I didn't eat much, so I felt fine, but I couldn't believe that her eating when I did not would bother her so much.
"Oh no, it's alright. You don't have to thank me. It's the least I could do after the way I acted. All of the food is yours, considering that you were the one that went to the world above to get it. Besides, I'm not hungry."
At that moment, my stomach decided to give an audible growl that seemed to shake the entire room. I saw her face grow into a smirk.
"By the way your stomach seemed to shake the dining room, you are starving."
Before I could even make an attempt to stop her, Evangeline had gone into a frenzy as she took my plate, filled it with one of everything that was on the table, and gave it back to me. Then, she took her own plate, put a few pieces of food on there, and sat back down.
Evangeline's POV
I ate a piece of crispy bacon as I watched Erik try to comprehend what I just did. His stoic expression didn't change, but I could see his eyes widen just a fraction in surprise.
"Now, I know that you said that you weren't hungry, but please eat. It's not healthy to keep denying yourself food, especially since you are still recuperating from what happened last night."
I watched as my host gave me a wary look and took a tiny nibble of a piece of toast and then began to look at his plate.
* Time Skip because, why not?*
After breakfast, I took both my plate and Erik's plate (which was still fairly full.) I put Erik's plate in the fridge along with the rest of the food and took my own, washed it along with the utensils, and put then away.
Erik's POV
It would be difficult to train a voice without my organ. I thought in frustration. In my excitement of finding a new voice to train and in the rush to find a way to express my apologies to my new pupil, I had forgotten that all of my musical instruments were destroyed less than two days ago.
Hmm, I would either have to repair my old one piece by piece, or have to risk going above to get a new one.
Just then, Evangeline found me lost in my thoughts.
"Oh, there you are! I put your leftovers in the fridge for when you want it."
This was the first moment that I was able to see her properly since I was so worried about the breakfast. Her black hair was up in bun, exposing her dark, round face. She was, in a word, beautiful. And her beauty made me more self-conscious of my ugliness.
"Hey, you okay there?"
I snapped back into attention as she looked at me with concern.
"Please forgive me, mademoiselle." I suddenly blurt out.
Evangeline's POV
"For what?" I asked him, " You spacing out? If that's the case, then you have nothing to-"
He cut me off.
"No, not just that. I also mean about the monstrous way that I had treated you. For the two days that I have known you, you have been nothing but kind and helpful, and yet I have been so very inconsiderate and have threatened your life twice! Plus, I had promised to give you voice lessons, which was an unworthy attempt to earn your forgiveness from last time and I just remembered that my instruments had been destroyed."
At this, he dropped to his knees and began to cry and speak in third person.
"Erik is such an atrocious, horrible monster! He has harmed an innocent woman twice and then has the nerve to ask forgiveness! Erik knows that he doesn't deserve it, but he humbly asks for it-"
Before he said any more, I stooped down at his level and helped him off the floor.
"No, don't do that. You're already forgiven. You have to understand that not everyone is out to hurt you. And besides, I have to apologize to you too."
"For what?" He asked, sniffling.
"I punched you square in the jaw and knocked you out. You were sick and instead of handling it properly, I punched you instead. I'm sorry about that."
"No, mademoiselle, it is alright. I deserved that punch. After all, I was going to attack you and you had to defend yourself." He gave a small chuckle.
Erik's POV
"By the way," Evangeline said, "Thank you for the dresses and shoes. And for fixing breakfast. You're a good cook."
"Y-You're welcome." I stuttered, giving her a ghost of a smile.
As she left for her room, I couldn't help but stare at her.
She has forgiven me.
I couldn't believe it.
Now, Erik. I thought to myself, You better not mess this up. Or else she will never forgive you again. God and the rest of the world will not forgive you for all of your crimes, but she had been gracious to give you forgiveness. Don't screw this up like you always do.
I won't mess up this time.
A/N: I'M BACK!!!!! Sorry for not updating as frequently, but what do you guys think?
Did Evangeline forgive him too quickly?
Did Erik really learn from his ways?
