Chapter 996: Awful

Ayan couldn't help but chuckle at his own words, a smile briefly gracing

his face. However, the smile carried a chilling undertone, sending

shivers down everyone's spine in the room.

No one dared to speak as this matter couldn't be simply brushed aside,

especially now that Ayan had heard it. He couldn't pretend he hadn't.

His icy gaze fell upon Camille as he softened his expression, speaking

in a low voice, "So, what did they just say to you? That they intend to

marry you off to someone else?"

Camille met Ayan's eyes with an expressionless face, her gaze equally

cold. She parted her lips to speak but was preempted by Page.

Page interjected, "Ayan, you misunderstood. It's nothing."

She reached out and pulled Camille aside, whispering, "Cami, why

don't you take Ayan upstairs for a tour around?"

Camille didn't budge. She had no intention of following Page's

suggestion. Instead, she asked dispassionately, "Why would I take him

upstairs this late? Are you planning to have both of us stay here? Aren't

you afraid Mr. Wesley and Mrs. Wesley might misunderstand?"

Camille cast a fleeting, cold glance at Page before turning her attention

back to Ayan, saying, "Exactly. They intend to introduce me to the

Wesley family from Chesen. Mr. Wesley and Mrs. Wesley even came

here, planning for me to pack up and leave with them in the next few

days!"

Camille had always been someone who preferred not to complain,

even if she had to bear injustices. Especially when dealing with the

Armstrong family, she had already done everything she was supposed

to. But the continued coldness and heartlessness she faced from them

in return were becoming unbearable and disgusting.

The thought that they were introducing her to someone else behind her

back, even though she was divorced from Ayan, and that they were

fully aware of the existence of Timmy, was something she couldn't

accept.

No, she didn't believe it.

Of course, they knew.

It was simple enough to find out if they wanted to, not some deep

secret that couldn't be uncovered.

Camille took a silent deep breath, growing increasingly infuriated by

Brody and Page's behavior. She cast an icy, unfamiliar look at Page

and said, "If you really think I'm profiting from carrying the Armstrong

family's name, I can change it. If that's not enough, you can cut ties

with me. But can't you stop demeaning me like this repeatedly?"

Camille finished speaking with an emotionless expression and turned to

Ayan, saying, "Let's go."

Ayan's eyebrows furrowed slightly, his expression cold. He didn't move

but instead reached back to clasp Camille's hand, addressing Brody in

a chilly tone, "So, is this the intention of the entire Armstrong family? To

marry my woman off to someone else? You dare to think this way. Who

gave you the right and the audacity?"

Ayan's questioning left Brody and Page stunned.

But now that Ayan and Camille were divorced, and with Mr. Wesley and

Mrs. Wesley present, Brody felt a bit more assertive, as if he had some

other support, and that he could disregard Ayan.

Brody replied, "Ayan, you and Cami are already divorced. Even if you

have a child between you, it's still necessary to maintain some

distance. Besides, how we arrange things is a matter for the Armstrong

family. It's better if you don't interfere.”

"Hmph! The Armstrong family's matter?" Ayan snorted coldly. He

continued in an indifferent tone, "Do you even treat her as part of the

Armstrong family?"

Brody's face grew stiffer, and Page jumped in, saying, "Ayan, what do

you mean by that? Did she tell you something? The Armstrong family

has done everything for her. If not for us, could she have married into

the Simpson family? Right now, we just want what's best for her."

Page then proceeded to scold Camille for lacking gratitude.

The Wesley family was still struggling to grasp the full context of the

conversation, but the one thing they understood was Ayan's identity as

Camille's ex-husband.

However, seeing Camille display such intimate behavior with her former

husband after their divorce was something Mrs. Wesley couldn't

accept. She interrupted the argument, saying, "Mr. Armstrong, Mrs.

Armstrong, we had an agreement. Her personal life must be clean.

Although Derrick Wesley is currently ill, the doctor said he could wake

up at any moment. We don't want to be taken advantage of!"

Brody quickly reassured, "Don't worry, we won't go back on our word."

Brody had completely dismissed the idea of Camille marrying into the

Wesley family, even with Ayan present.

Ayan, from the conversation, had gathered some hints about what was

happening. He raised an eyebrow, his voice icy as he said, "Camille is

my woman. Regardless of whether we're divorced, she's still my wife.

Anyone who dares to take an interest in her should be prepared to face

the consequences. If Mr. Armstrong insists on testing the waters, then

go ahead. We'll see who's bolder.”

Ayan finished speaking, his cold gaze fixed on Brody. As he led Camille

away, they passed by Mr. Wesley and Mrs. Wesley. Mrs. Wesley tried

to block their path, saying, "You've already divorced, you can't take her

away. She belongs to the Wesley family now."

Ayan's deep eyes turned to Mrs. Wesley. “If you don't want to lose

everything, leave Hance City now with your money. Otherwise, you can

try."

Ayan pushed Mrs. Wesley aside and left the Armstrong family estate,

hand in hand with Camille.

Mr. Wesley and Mrs. Wesley couldn't accept what had just transpired.

They would have to seek explanations and solutions from Brody and

Page.

Brody continued to reassure that they would make sure Camille

returned with them to Chesen City. Mr. Wesley and Mrs. Wesley finally

relented.

After sending Mr. Wesley and Mrs. Wesley away, Page looked at Brody,

somewhat bewildered, and asked, "What do we do now? Ayan won't let

her go!"

Brody remained silent, his expression calculating and cold. He spoke in

a low, hoarse voice, "Camille is under our control now, whether Ayan

likes it or not.”

"What do you mean?"

"We'll just make her marry. Ayan can't do anything about it. Who asked

the Simpson family to stand aloof and refuse to help the Armstrong

family?" Brody sneered, sinking deeper into his own thoughts.

Page, also growing more calculating, agreed. Their feelings toward

Camille weren't deep, so her wishes didn't matter much to them.

However, they were unaware that every word they spoke had been

heard, without missing a single one, by Grace.

Grace tightly pursed her lips, her face drained of color. She had never

expected Brody and Page to say such things.

She suddenly felt a chill down her spine, wondering if she would be

next.

The more she thought about it, the more her face darkened with worry.

She quietly returned to her room, but with her phone in Page's

possession, she had no way to contact anyone. All she could do was

wait for Brody and Page to leave the house.

Camille and Ayan returned to Franklin Bay in silence.

Neither of them said much on the way home, each wearing a complex

expression.

Back at Franklin Bay, they both went upstairs to their bedroom. Camille

finally looked at Ayan, her face a mix of grievances and emotions.

Camille whispered, "I never expected them to do this. How could they?

How could they?"

Camille's emotions were running high, her face showing a blend of

numbness and heavy feelings. Her eyes held a profound sadness.

Ayan walked over and sat beside her, raising his hand to gently rest on

her shoulder. His voice was gentle and soothing as he said, “It's okay.

This isn't your fault. It's their choice. We can't control other people's

decisions, but we can limit our interactions with such people, alright?"

Camille looked at Ayan, her eyes questioning, "So, because they don't

like me, it's okay for them to do anything to me, right?"
