Chapter 992: Funny
Rex hesitated for a moment, wearing a troubled expression on his face.
Then, he quickly caught up and said in a gentle tone, "Ayan, can we
talk? If you need help, I'm here for you."
"Shut up!" Ayan snapped.
Rex didn't ask any further questions and assumed that Ayan had some
hidden issues. After all, even Sienna hadn't disclosed much, and she
had warned him not to mention it to anyone. Otherwise, he wouldn't be
allowed back into the master bedroom. This threat was undoubtedly
effective against Rex.
After their walk, it was already dark outside.
The five of them parted ways at the villa's entrance and went to their
respective homes.
Perhaps tired from their walk and playtime, Timmy felt a bit sleepy.
Camille entrusted him to the nanny to take him upstairs for a bath.
Camille and Ayan leaned against the sofa in the living room. The TV
was playing a recently launched singing variety show, where popular
young singers critiqued former stars whose styles had fallen out of
favor. These once-famous singers, while no longer as popular, had
created classics known far and wide. However, the current popular
music styles were different from those in the past, resulting in their
songs having little appeal today. In contrast, the singers with average
talent but a trendy image were thriving.
Camille watched quietly for a while and couldn't help but comment,
âThis is so frustrating.â
Ayan, understanding what she meant, casually picked up the remote
control and turned off the TV. He said, "That should make you less
frustrated. If it's still not enough, I can have Kian pull this show off the
air."
He wasn't just making empty promises. If she agreed, he would do it.
Camille wasn't that bored, though. After all, everyone had their choices
to make, and perhaps the contrast was necessary to highlight the
talents of these past stars. It might even be a good thing for them.
Camille quickly said, "No, I'm not that domineering.â
"Does that mean you won't get angry?" He looked at her and asked.
Camille just pursed her lips and said softly, "I'm not really angry.â
Ayan's gentle gaze remained fixed on her, and his expression was
always tender. His voice was equally soft as he asked, "Did you tell
Sienna about us?"
Camille was slightly surprised by this sudden question. Judging from
his expression, Sienna had probably mentioned it to Rex, and Rex had
just asked him about it.
Camille didn't evade or hesitate; she answered candidly, "Yes, I
mentioned it this afternoon at the office. She was bound to find out
sooner or later, so I didn't plan to keep it from her."
âYou're honest with her," Ayan said with a hint of bitterness, but Camille
didn't feel the need to explain further.
The conversation on this topic ended there.
The two of them didn't stay downstairs for long and soon went back to
their bedroom. Naturally, they lived together.
After taking a shower, Camille stood on the balcony to get some fresh
air. She could faintly hear the sound of water running from the
bathroom, and she couldn't help but find it amusing.
Perhaps their relationship was unique among them?
But they were adults, and there was no room for pride or grievances.
Tonight, however, Camille wanted to tease Ayan a little.
Camille returned to bed, and shortly after, Ayan emerged from the
bathroom. The atmosphere in the room was unusually quiet, as if they
could hear each other's heartbeat.
Wrapped in a towel, Ayan, his hair still wet, slowly approached the
bedside from a higher vantage point and looked down at Camille. He
asked, "Are you going to sleep?"
Camille replied, "Yes."
Ayan's deep gaze fixed on her. "Aren't you waiting for me?"
Camille smiled faintly and asked, âMr. Simpson, do I need to wait even
when I'm going to sleep?"
âI've suffered so much today. Aren't you going to make it up to me?" He
hinted at something more with his deep, alluring eyes.
Camille, however, pretended not to understand, and her expression
remained cold. She said, "What have you suffered, Mr. Simpson? You
can't bring your business demeanor into this with me. I'd feel quite
aggrieved if you treated me that way."
After saying this, Camille's lips curled into a slight smile, and her gaze
seemed to tell Ayan that she wouldn't fall for his trap.
Ayan looked helpless as he reached out and held her hand, gently
squeezing it in his palm. His lips curled up in a faint smile as he spoke
in a soft voice, âTell me, what should I do?"
She pursed her lips and replied calmly, âI'm tired. I spent the whole
afternoon at the university, and then we took a long walk. I can't open
my eyes right now. So, can I sleep?"
She feigned a pitiful look, leaving Ayan unable to say no.
Camille withdrew her hand from his palm and whispered, "So,
goodnight?"
Ayan sensed that something was amiss with her tone and casually
asked, "Goodnight?"
"Yes, goodnight."
"Are you suggesting I should leave tonight?"
"Are you planning to stay?" Camille looked genuinely surprised, as if
she hadn't expected this at all. She continued, "Ayan, your behavior
isn't great for my reputation. We are officially divorced, so it's better to
maintain some distance, right?"
"Maintain distance?" Ayan almost gritted his teeth and a cold smile
formed on his lips. He sneered, "Camille, are you trying to torment
me?"
Camille felt wronged and said, "How could you think that? Don't
misunderstand me."
Ayan couldn't be bothered to respond further. He got up and went to
blow-dry his hair, leaving Camille with an unhappy silhouette. Despite
this, Camille couldn't help but smile.
However, her smile didn't last long, as Ayan's relentless punishment left
her exhausted. One word to describe her: tired.
The sounds in the master bedroom continued until dawn began to
break. Camille had fallen asleep long ago and had no energy left to
tease Ayan. Ayan, wearing a smile on his face, gazed at her beside
him. His lips formed a noticeable curve as he leaned down and gently
kissed her forehead. His voice was tender as he said, "Go to sleep.â
Camille slept until almost the afternoon, so she had no way of going to
the office in the morning.
Before leaving in the morning, Ayan had told the nanny not to wake
Camille up and instructed Timmy not to disturb her upstairs. As a result,
Camille slept very well, and it was Sienna'âs phone call that finally woke
her up.
This was Sienna's tenth call. If she didn't answer this time, Sienna was
ready to come to her house.
Camille answered the call, and Sienna sounded concerned. "Why
haven't you been replying to messages or answering your phone?
What are you doing?"
Camille sounded tired as she replied, "What's up? I was asleep and
didn't hear anything."
âYou're still in bed?" Sienna asked in surprise, her voice tinged with
teasing. âIs someone with you, or are you alone?"
Camille naturally didn't want to answer, so she asked, "Why did you call
me?"
"Aren't you coming to the office?" Sienna asked. "That student is here,
so when are you coming?"
Camille suddenly remembered that she had work today. She had
arranged to meet with Zack for a meeting.
Camille sighed and said, âYou can talk to him about it, discuss the
compensation and the guidelines, and we need to sign a confidentiality
agreement. If there are any violations, there will be penalties.â
As the design assistant, she would naturally expose to him information
about the competition entries. In her line of work, one had to be
extremely careful, as a small mistake could lead to accusations of
plagiarism, and she had experienced such rumors and gossip before.
Therefore, Camille was cautious and did her best to avoid giving
anyone the opportunity to criticize her.
Sienna agreed with Camille's instructions. "Alright, I'll follow your
arrangement. Are you coming to the office later?"
"No."
Sienna teased, "Are you two celebrating your divorce? You seem so
happy.â
