Chapter 955: Letting Go

Ayan chuckled, holding her hand. "You're already asking me when I'll

be back? You can't bear to see me go?"

Camille remained silent; in moments like these, it was best not to say

anything.

If she admitted to missing him, Ayan would probably tease her next

time.

So, it was better to stay quiet.

Without a response from Camille, Ayan continued to press, "Are you

trying to tell me you won't miss me?"

Camille let out a light hum, still not giving any answers.

In the next moment, he reached out and gently lifted her chin. His deep

eyes fixed on her, a hint of a smile playing on his thin lips. His voice

turned tender as he asked, "Not going to speak?"

Forced to look up at him, Camille met his gaze head-on, wearing a

disgruntled expression. "I don't want to talk.”

"Good girl. Tell me, will you miss me?" He persisted, showing no signs

of giving up.

Camille furrowed her brows and replied impatiently, "You're so

annoying!"

These words held no anger; instead, they carried a hint of playfulness,

causing Ayan to instinctively narrow his eyes. His throat moved, and his

voice took on a husky tone. "Trying to seduce me, are you?"

Sensing something amiss, Camille tried to sit up straight, her

expression turning serious. However, Ayan didn't give her a chance to

move. He held her shoulders firmly, not allowing her to escape. Camille

immediately reached out to push him, her voice tinged with urgency,

"Stop... Let go of me. Let's talk.”

Observing her anxious expression, Ayan's smile deepened, and his

voice, now tinged with laughter, said, "Scared? If you're scared, don't

seduce me. Let's have a good conversation. Tell me, will you miss

me?"

"What does it matter if I miss you? Are you planning to carry me around

in your pocket?" She pursed her lips.

He seemed to consider it a good idea and instinctively asked, "How

about you come with me?"

Camille hesitated for a moment, then heard him say, "But it might be

tiring on the road. Forget it, stay at home."

The two of them shifted the conversation back to Mr. and Mrs. Bell's

matter. Ayan said, "Mr. and Mrs. Bell are completely under Mr.

Mikkola's control now. If they don't cut off this situation soon, the

consequences could be disastrous. If they don't take action now, they

might never be able to shake off Mr. Mikkola."

"What's the background of that Mikkola?"

"He developed his career abroad and started with publicity. He has a lot

of experience in this area and has cooperated with many foreign

companies.” Ayan had only done a brief check on Mr. Mikkola; as long

as his identity didn't pose any special threats to him and the Simpson

Group, he didn't want to dig too deep. He wasn't an all-powerful person,

and checking Mikkoka's history when he was abroad was a bit hard. Of

course, all of this was under the premise that Mr. Mikkola didn't

endanger his and the Simpson Group's interests.

Currently, Mr. Mikkola wasn't just exerting control over Mr. and Mrs.

Bell; there was a clear indication that he wanted to interfere even more,

and Ayan could sense it.

Ayan's face grew serious; this matter needed to be resolved quickly.

Otherwise, when Preston regained his strength, he didn't want to waste

his efforts on other matters.

Camille nodded in agreement. She asked, "With Mr. and Mrs. Bell's

status and position, are they really willing to be constantly threatened?"

Ayan just smiled; this wasn't something he needed to worry about, so

he didn't provide an answer.

At the same time, Mr. and Mrs. Bell, who had just returned to the hotel,

discussed the events of the night.

Mr. Bell's expression was somewhat cold as he looked at Mrs. Bell.

"Maybe tomorrow, you should talk to Camille. It might be easier to

persuade Ayan from her side than directly talking to him."

“I don't plan to talk to Camille," Mrs. Bell refused without hesitation. "I

felt sorry to Camille for last time, so I won't turn to her again.”

“If you don't talk to her, Ayan won't cooperate with us, and Mr. Mikkola

will keep tightening his grip on us."

"At this point, can't we just let things take their course between us?"

Mrs. Bell questioned, her expression challenging.

Mr. Bell's face immediately showed signs of excitement, and he was

determined. "No, we need this project to establish a firm footing in

Hance. Our reputation can't be ruined because of this incident. We've

worked for so many years. Do we have to let it all go to waste because

of this small matter?"

Mr. Bell approached Mrs. Bell, his brow furrowed. His voice was low

and deep as he spoke, "Although we're no longer husband and wife,

our relationship is deeper than that. We're family, friends, and

confidants. We're going to walk a long road together. I don't want any

accidents at this point.”

Mrs. Bell remained silent, her expression unreadable. Mr. Bell couldn't

discern her thoughts; they were hidden behind an indifferent facade.

Mr. Bell spoke at length, sighing heavily, and tentatively asked, "Are

you still blaming me?"

Finally, Mrs. Bell reacted, her gaze turning icy. She replied, "Blame

you? How could I blame you?"

Mr. Bell sensed her change in attitude and her cold, distant gaze. "I..."

"Once this project is over, I'll withdraw from the charity foundation. At

that time, I'll hand over the entire foundation to you. I won't ask for

anything. I'm tired, and I don't want to continue exhausting myself."

"You want to withdraw?" Mr. Bell was excited. "I don't agree.”

“It's not up to you. It's my own decision. We can't deceive each other

forever. If... do you think we can keep it a secret?”

Mrs. Bell's tone carried accusation, frustration, and irritation. She gazed

at Mr. Bell with a cold and distant look, devoid of any love or emotion,

only coldness.

Mr. Bell didn't speak. It was getting late, and Mrs. Bell walked toward

the bedroom. She said, "I'll talk to Camille about it. I'm not sure if it will

work, but since you've chosen Mr. Mikkola, be prepared.”

Mrs. Bell returned to her room. She had always portrayed herself as a

gentle, dignified, and magnanimous woman in front of everyone, but

she didn't want others to see her this way. She didn't want to be seen

as someone like this because the pretense was too exhausting.

She gazed out of the dark window, letting out a self-deprecating laugh.

She murmured softly to herself, "Am I a failure?"

This night, she hardly slept. She pondered many things and eventually

had to reconcile with herself.

The process was undoubtedly tough.

But she had to continue alone in the end, as only she would be her own

companion.

Early the next morning, Ayan and Camille were ready to leave around

5:30 a.m.

Kian was waiting outside in the car. Camille accompanied him outside,

and Kian took his luggage and placed it in the trunk. Camille whispered,

"Safety first. Don't put yourself in danger.”

"Alright, I know." He gently stroked her hair and gave her a kiss on the

forehead before getting into the car.

Camille watched as Kian drove away from Franklin Bay, her gaze

lingering.

Ayan's trip with Kian to Fola was a secret known only to the three of

them, so Rex came over at around 7:30 a. m.

He said, "I'm planning to play basketball with Ayan, Derek, and Tomas.

We haven't hung out together for a while. It's a good time for everyone.

Can you ask Ayan to come down?"

Camille replied, "He can't make it."

"Why can't he make it?"

"He's gone to the office,” Camille said in a hushed tone.

Rex raised an eyebrow, preparing to make a call, but Camille

instinctively stopped him. She then typed a message on her phone and

handed it to Rex, saying, "The company has a project to handle, so he

left early. He probably won't be back until late at night."

Rex nodded and cooperated, saying, "Alright, I'll call him later.”

"Okay."

Although there were no outsiders at home, it was necessary to play

along and avoid accidentally revealing anything.

Rex didn't stay long, and after their conversation, he left.

Camille took a deep breath, ready to send Timmy to daycare and then

head to the office.

However, just as she was about to leave, her phone rang.

It was Mrs. Bell calling.

Camille was briefly taken aback before answering the call, saying,

"Hello?"

Mrs. Bell's soft voice came through the phone, "Cami, are you at home

or at the office? Can I come see you?"
