Chapter 930: Disruption

Molly lightly bit her lip, and tears instantly welled up in her eyes. She

raised her hand to cover her face, unwilling to meet Preston's gaze.

Her voice, hoarse and choked, was full of sobbing, "I didn't know what

to say. I had nothing to say. Could you give me some time to be alone?

I didn't want to see you. When I saw you, I couldn't help but think of that

video, you and that woman... both of you..."

The more Molly spoke, the more distressed she became, to the point

where she couldn't even produce words anymore.

Her heartache also affected Preston, who furrowed his brows tightly.

He reached out to comfort her, but his hand was immediately pushed

away.

In a soft voice, Preston said, "Molly, even criminals are given a chance

to defend themselves in court. Do you want to condemn me based

solely on a video?"

Molly remained silent, her lips tightly pursed, her expression a bit stiff.

She stared at Preston, her voice devoid of emotion, "How should you

explain? The evidence is clear. Are you still not admitting it? Are you

going to keep lying to me?"

Facing Molly's questioning, Preston's expression turned equally grave.

In a low, measured voice, he said, "I didn't do what you're accusing me

of. Molly, don't you know me? If I really had someone else, why would I

agree to marry you?"

Molly's gaze fixed on the man in front of her, her eyes unwavering. To

be honest, if she didn't know what kind of person he truly was, if things

were like they used to be, she might have been sold off by him and still

be counting the money for him.

Molly sneered in her heart. Her expression remained frosty, and she

truly felt that she had never understood this man. But after his repeated

aloofness, she had become the person she was now. Molly wanted to

thank him for that.

If he had concealed everything deeper, she might still be kept in the

dark. In that case, she would really have been manipulated by him.

Molly didn't rush to speak. She seemed to be genuinely contemplating

his words. Preston noticed this and prompted, "Molly, can you trust

me?"

“I want to trust you too, but I really don't know how. I'm carrying our

child, yet you haven't shown any intention of getting married.

Sometimes, I truly doubt whether you genuinely want to be with me."

The mention of getting married made Preston's expression turn

serious. He gazed at Molly, his tone still calm and composed, not

betraying any emotions. He said, "Molly, I was planning to propose to

you and then get married. Even though we have a child now, you'll

have everything a new bride has. I don't want to make you feel you are

mistreated, nor do I want you to lack anything. If you think it's better to

get married sooner, why don't we just go ahead and do it?"

So, at this moment, Preston's heart was filled with unease. He gazed at

Molly, waiting for her response.

Molly pressed her lips together and softly asked, “Are you truly willing

to marry me?"

Preston replied, "Of course. We were going to get married in the first

place, why wouldn't I be willing?"

He said it as if it were the most obvious thing, as though he was

providing a very typical response.

But Molly shook her head lightly. She said, "Since you have your own

life plans, let's follow your plans. I don't want to disrupt your

arrangements because of me or any other reasons.”

"Molly, you're the person I want to spend my life with. How could you be

a disruption?" Preston helped Molly up from the couch. He handed her

the bouquet of roses and said, "All these things online, they're

intentionally trying to target me."

"Somebody is targeting you? So, is it really not true?"

"Of course it's not true. Do you still not believe me at this point?

Originally, I didn't plan to tell you all this, but now, if I don't say anything,

you'll truly be hurt." Preston's voice was gentle, but his tone was flat.

He continued, "Ayan has misunderstood me. Even up to now, he's still

targeting me over my friendship with Camille. Whether it's projects or

anything else, he's been pressuring me."

Preston explained many things, detailing what had happened since he

returned to Flento from Hance. All these incidents were orchestrated by

Ayan to undermine him.

He said, "If my guess is correct, Ayan is probably behind this as well.

He wants to disrupt everything for me, to drive a wedge between us, to

create problems."

As he talked, his emotions started to get more intense.

His face was full of an icy detachment. He said, "Besides Ayan, no one

else would go to such lengths. So, Molly, you must believe me, okay?

We are the ones who will spend our lives together. Everything I'm doing

now is for our future. My heart only belongs to you, because when I

was at my lowest, it was you who helped me. So, you're the only

person I love."

He continued to reassure, to pour out his feelings, all to make Molly

believe in him.

Underneath his repeated affirmations, Molly slowly suppressed the

sadness from earlier. She looked at Preston, saying, "Alright, I can

believe you. But how do you plan to handle this?"

“The woman in the video with me is Zoie. She's a dancer. I've recently

invested in a dance studio, so we're in a business partnership. This is

also for the sake of our future child. I talked to her about this before I

came back, and she's willing to help us clear things up. So, I plan to

contact media outlets with a good relationship with the Walker family for

a live interview. You'll need to be present too, okay?"

Preston's face remained composed, neither nervous nor guilty. Molly

contemplated for a while before nodding in agreement.

Since she had agreed, Preston became attentive to her every need. He

even uttered flowery words, each word telling Molly that she was the

only one in his heart. He was so devoted that he even fed her water.

He even painted a rosy picture of the future, making it clear to Molly

that his heart was only for her.

However, Molly was no longer the same as she was half a year ago.

She wouldn't be swayed by such sweet words anymore, but she

couldn't help but remember how his smile used to make her happy for a

long time.

Thinking about it now, she felt foolish.

Molly couldn't help but smile, a bitter smile that prompted Preston to be

stunned. He asked, "Molly, what's the matter?"

"Brother, have you ever lied to me?"

"Of course not."

"Good, I believe you."

Molly smiled faintly, gazing at Preston.

Their eyes met for a few seconds before Molly looked away. Her

expression made Preston uncomfortable, yet he felt something he

couldn't quite express.

With just over an hour left until the live broadcast, news about the

situation in Flento City spread to other cities as well

Especially after Preston's video was released, everyone recognized

him, whether from the museum project or Mr. and Mrs. Bell's project.

People discussed Preston's character and speculated about how he

would handle the situation.
