Chapter 888: Beauty

Camille thought everything was pretty good, and the styles had a great

artistic concept.

She said, "They're all good. What do you think?"

“I'm just a supporting role. It's mainly up to you. If you think they're all

good, then let's go ahead with the all the shooting concepts.” Ayan

didn't understand these things at all, so he left it to Talia to handle. As

for the wedding dress designer he found, of course, it was the most

expensive, hardest to book, and with the best reputation.

His words made Camille and Talia roll their eyes. Talia didn't mince her

words and said, "If you want to do the shoot, I won't allow Cami to go

with you. Do you think taking wedding photos is just for fun? It's tiring

and requires going to quite a lot of different places. It's hard work. If you

take all these photos, won't Cami be the one suffering?"

Ayan looked at his own mother's protective stance towards Camille.

Although Talia had always been biased like this, she always stood on

Camille's side, even if it was something involving her son. He couldn't

help but ask, "You're only thinking about how it might tire her, but what

about showing some concern for me?"

Talia replied nonchalantly, “Isn't it because it was your idea in the first

place? Since you can come up with such a request, it means you're not

afraid of hard work. How about this, you go for the shoot alone, capture

all these beautiful sceneries, and later I'll have a professional team

insert Cami into the photos during post-production. This way, Cami

won't have to be so tired, and we can still capture those beautiful

moments.”

As Talia spoke, she felt that this idea was pretty good. She immediately

took out her phone to contact a professional team.

Ayan shook his head helplessly and turned to Camille, asking, "Are you

just going to stand by and watch your mother in law mistreating your

husband?"

Camille gave a faint smile and said in a emotionless voice, "I can't see

anything, and besides, how come Mom mistreated you? You shouldn't

talk nonsense. If you continue like this, I might sue you for defamation.

Obviously, Mom is just caring for you. How can you slander her like

this?"

“That's right, Cami knows how to care for her mother. Hey, even though

you are my biological son, it doesn't matter. It's still better to be a

beloved daughter-in-law. I hereby announce that from now on, the

daughter-in-law is the real family, while the son is just whatever." Talia

raised her eyebrows, not giving Ayan any "respect" at all.

The mother-in-law and daughter-in-law's teasing together made Ayan

feel helpless.

But they completely ignored his feelings and continued chatting about

the wedding photos as if they didn't see him at all.

Camille settled on a wedding photographer and team, but she hadn't

decided on the location yet. The finalization of the museum project was

coming up, and afterward, she would need to decide whether to

continue working with the architecture company. If she chose to

continue with them, she might be very busy.

Ayan was also busy with numerous projects at the Simpson Group. If

they had to go abroad or to another city for the wedding photo shoot, it

would take quite a bit of time-probably at least twenty days altogether.

So, Camille was hesitant.

As it was getting late, they left the Simpson's mansion and returned to

the Maple Leaves Mansion.

Before leaving, Fletcher and Talia brought up another matter.

Fletcher said, "You two can't keep living in the Maple Leaves Mansion.

Although it's cozy and comfortable, Timmy will eventually grow up and

live with you. At that time, there won't be even enough space for a

housekeeper. If you don't want to go back to the old Hanyama

Mansion, then let's look for a new residence. We'll buy it for you as a

gift."

Camille was surprised, but it was Ayan who refused the offer. He said,

“I'm already looking for a house. If you really want to give us a gift, help

us prepare for the wedding."

Fletcher and Talia didn't bother with Ayan's refusal and instead turned

to Camille. Camille felt the pressure.

While the Simpson family had more than enough money to buy a villa

in Hance City, she didn't want them to do that. They had already given

her too much, and she didn't want to keep asking for more. A villa here

is really something expensive.

After careful consideration, Camille spoke, "Mom, Dad, thank you for

being so good to us. Let us handle our residence by ourselves. You

and Mom don't need to worry about these things anymore. Just enjoy

your life."

Talia was moved by Camille's words. She said, "If you don't want us to

buy a house, we can pay part of a new house near good schools for

Timmy."

She immediately took out a bank card, clearly prepared in advance and

seemingly anticipating Camille's refusal to their offer. She handed the

card to Camille without waiting for her response and swiftly ushered her

into the car. As they left the Simpson's mansion and headed back to the

Maple Leaves Mansion, Camille still hadn't fully recovered from her

surprise, her face filled with disbelief as she looked at Ayan.

She asked, "Shouldn't we return this card to Mom?"

“It's for you. Don't feel pressured. I bought her a lot of jewelry that she

likes, and they're all valuable. So, take it. This is her way of repaying

me." Ayan reassured her, trying to make Camille feel more at ease as

he was already beginning to treat Talia as a business partner with

reciprocal gestures.

Although Camille felt that it was only right for Ayan to give Talia a gift, at

this moment, she couldn't fully grasp what was wrong. She just had a

vague feeling that something wasn't right, but she couldn't pinpoint

exactly what it was.

Ayan lowered his voice and asked, "Rex and I have picked out two

villas together. They're next to each other, which will make it convenient

for you to be together with Sienna. When the renovations are

completed, I'll take you to see them. How about that?"

Camille was surprised and asked, "When did this happen?"

“It's been a while. I didn't tell you because I wanted to surprise you. But

with my parents suddenly mentioning buying us a house, I was afraid

that if I refused without an explanation, you might overthink things."

Ayan reached out and gently held her hand, resting his chin on her

shoulder, his voice slightly hoarse as he explained.

Camille gave a soft hum, a bit coquettish, "You don't have to worry. I

won't overthink things."

"Alright, alright. You won't. It's just me overthinking things like a petty

person.” Ayan playfully admitted his mistake, and Camille generously

forgave him.

They continued chatting until they returned to the Maple Leaves

Mansion.

That night, after taking a shower and lying down, Camille remembered

what happened at the Simpson's mansion.

She asked him, "How did your conversation with Grandpa go? What's

the real reason behind his loss of appetite?"

Ayan shook his head, "He was tight-lipped. No matter how I tried to

ask, he refused to say anything. It seems that he's keeping something

from us.

From the initial probing to the final candid inquiry, the old Simpson

denied anything was wrong. Not a single word was mentioned about

the phone call from the anonymous number.

This was definitely not in line with the old Simpson's usual personality,

leaving Ayan certain that there was something he was hiding from

them.

But what exactly could it be?

Camille voiced the same concerns as Ayan. He shook his head again,

and he held her in his arms, resting his chin on her shoulder, and said

in a gentle voice, "Don't worry, I'll take care of it. He is getting older and

likes to keep things to himself. If he doesn't want to talk, no one can

make him spill the beans. I'll go back tomorrow morning and have a

proper chat with him."

Camille nodded in agreement.

A sleepless night passed, and there was still no news of Cora.

Preston's secretary, Quintus, was also missing, as if he had

disappeared from the face of the earth.

However, no one possessed such a skill, so it was impossible for

anyone to vanish without any warning.

Ayan had Kian's people keep searching for Quintus's whereabouts and

finally got a lead in the afternoon.

Quintus had returned to his apartment in his car this morning and

hadn't been seen outside since.

Kian immediately reported the news to Ayan, saying, "Mr. Simpson, if

we keep a close eye on Quintus, we might find out where Cora is.”

Ayan didn't share the same view, saying, "If Quintus returned so

openly, then he must have already arranged everything for Cora. Find

out where Quintus came from this morning.”
