Chapter 884: The Unknown
Camille said calmly, "I'm not angry.â
"Still saying you're not?" Ayan smiled helplessly. âLook at your face,
have you given me a good look since last night till now? Even though
you say you're not angry, I know you are because I came home late."
Ayan reached out and pulled her back into his arms, comforting her
softly. Camille let him do as he pleased.
If he wanted to comfort her, then let him.
Ayan didn't go to the company in the morning. Instead, they had
something light to eat at home and then went to Sienna's restaurant at
around eleven.
It was still early, and there weren't many customers in the restaurant.
Sienna took Camille to the kitchen to watch the chefs cook while Ayan
stayed at a table and chatted with Rex.
After the two women disappeared, Rex looked at Ayan and asked,
"Where did you go last night? Why didn't you answer your phone? You
didn't do anything shady out there, did you? Ayan, don't drag me into
trouble. I just got married, and if you get a bad reputation, Sienna might
say we are birds of a feather. She might blacklist me."
Rex was extremely anxious. He and Ayan were in the same boat now,
and if Ayan messed up, he would be dragged into it as well.
Ayan lifted the teacup in front of him, gave Rex a cold glance, as if
looking at a fool. After taking a sip of tea, he casually said, "If Sienna
wants to blacklist you, that's your problem. Don't try to blame your
issues on me."
âI'm sure it won't be a problem. After all, we just got married, and it's not
as long as you've been married, so there will definitely be more
conflicts. So, you should be careful not to make Camille angry."
Rex wished he could tell everyone that he was married to Sienna. His
attitude was so smug that it bordered on arrogance.
However, Ayan didn't engage in a battle of words with him. He just
lightly asked, "Although you say you just got married, you've been
together for quite some time, right? It's different from me and Camille.
We got married about a year before she got pregnant. Our child is
already this big now. Time has passed quickly.â
Ayan snorted, his gaze coldly sweeping over Rex. He had a grudge to
settle, and Rex couldn't possibly match him in that regard.
Rex raised his hands in a gesture of surrender and said, "Ayan, you
really can't lose at all.â
Ayan didn't speak, and Rex continued, "So, you still haven't told me
where you went last night. Can't you even tell me?"
Ayan's smile faded, and a trace of indifference appeared in his deep
eyes. He glanced at the entrance not far away to make sure Camille
and Sienna hadn't come back before he calmly said, âCora is missing."
Rex immediately frowned, his eyes showing a slightly serious look. He
asked, "Missing from the hospital?"
"Yes."
"She's quite capable. You should keep a close eye on the Simpson's
mansion. And make sure you have someone looking out for Camille.
Cora's not to be trusted; after all, you kept her locked up in a mental
hospital for so long. That's probably more painful for her than if you had
killed her. So, you need to be careful. She's the kind of person whose
mind is twisted. What she'll do next is an unknown."
Rex's warning was something Ayan had already anticipated since the
moment he decided to send Cora in.
Cora definitely hated him to the core, but his only wish was that her
hatred wouldn't transfer to anyone else, except him.
However, that was just his wish. Whether Cora would do as he hoped
was an unknown.
After all, Cora had a history. She was capable of taking Timmy from the
Simpson's mansion, pushing down his grandpa. It was enough to show
how petty Cora was. Such malice could lead to unpredictable changes,
and what those changes would be was an unknown.
Ayan's face darkened slightly. His indifferent voice didn't continue to
guess what Cora might be thinking in this situation. Instead, he asked
coldly, "Austin isn't in Hance City. It shouldn't be easy for Cora to
contact him. But if she's not looking for Austin, then who would she
reach out to for help?"
This question had been lingering in his mind ever since he learned that
Cora was missing. Until now, he hadn't found an answer that satisfied
him.
Because he didn't believe that there was no one helping Cora. She
couldn't have left the unfamiliar suburbs by herself.
Rex fell into a momentary silence, but it didn't last long. Suddenly, he
said, "If I were Cora, I would contact the person who knows you best
and wants to know everything about you."
Ayan's eyes widened at Rex's words, and a slight stiffness appeared in
his gaze.
In his subconscious mind, a name popped up, but he didn't say it out
loud. However, Rex already guessed it, and they exchanged a knowing
look, both aware of each other's thoughts.
At this moment, Sienna and Camille returned with their food.
Seeing their somewhat indifferent expressions and the somber
atmosphere, Sienna casually asked, "What are you two talking about?"
Rex reached out and picked a piece of fruit from the plate Sienna had
placed on the table, feeding it to her. Sienna stared at him, as if asking
him why he wasn't answering the question.
Rex smiled and said, "I'm asking Ayan about his married life."
Sienna asked flatly, "Did you learn anything?" But in her heart she did
not believe the answer, but she did not ask anything else.
Rex chuckled, "I'm learning. I'll probably get better with more advice
from Ayan."
"Then let's look forward to the day of your transformation,â Sienna said,
patting his shoulder. She wore an expression that encouraged him to
keep going.
Soon the waiter arrived with the food, and Camille ordered the most
expensive dish in the store, in addition to a few new dishes. When the
food was all served, she looked at Sienna Rex and said, "This is on Mr.
Simpson. Everyone just enjoy yourself as much as possible."
Camille winked at Ayan. "Mr. Simpson, is that right?"
Ayan smiled helplessly. "Well, yes, order whatever you want."
Rex and Sienna responded, âThank you for your hospitality, Mr.
Simpson. Do you mind if I let someone get two bottles of wine?"
Ayan glances at Rex nonchalantly. "Well, bring it in. You're not getting
off this table today until you finish your drink."
Rex immediately looked at Camille: "Cami, you see, your Mr. Simpson
usually treats me like this, tut, I won't be petty with him because of you,
this if others I would have been sad and hurt."
Camille covered her mouth and smiled. Sienna raised her hand and
pushed Rex's head aside. "You really aregood at playing pitiful!" she
said.
This elicited laughter from all of them.
The atmosphere during the meal was naturally quite pleasant, and it
took nearly two hours to finish.
After the meal, there was still some time before their work hours, so
Rex took out a rare tea and had a drink with the three others.
They left one after another when it was time for work.
Oh, by the way, Sienna started working at Camille's company since she
returned. She liked designing, so she became the chief designer there.
Rex arranged several collaborations for the company because of her,
and now she was quite busy every day.
Her busyness was something she complained about as she dealt with
it.
On the other side, Ayan drove Camille to the museum.
When the car stopped, Ayan held Camille's hand and kissed it gently.
His eyes were full of tenderness, and his voice was soft and hoarse as
he said, âI'l come to pick you up after work and take you back to the
Simpson's mansion to see Timmy and Grandpa, alright?"
Camille nodded in agreement.
Other than that, she didn't say anything else. Their gazes locked onto
each other without blinking. Ayan finally spoke again, "Are you
unhappy?"
